- 1987 Ford Mustang GT build video by The Straight Pipes. The 1987 Ford Mustang GT is putting down 350 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque from a 5L V8. At $57,500 CAD, would you take it over a used Maserati, a REALLY used Ferrari, a Pontiac Fiero Lamborghini Kit Car?

Congrats I’ve been waiting for this video
Honestly this is one of the best looking, sounding, and burnout rolling fox body’s I’ve ever seen and I usually go for the new edge and s197 mustangs but yours is beautiful and that sound is like drugs you always need more of it 😂 congratulations on it coming together better than ever!!!
Really cool! Consider some subframe connectors, a torque box reinforcement kit and some drag shocks.
Damn man, Year One of this style too! Love the trick flow intake and the holley guy tuning it had to be thinking we can't make a better intake so I guess we'll concentrate on tuning
The cam sounds soooooooooo good! Nice work dude!
Classic E cam ❤️
I fan
😀😀👍👍👍👍
Top youtuber 👌
wassup chris
Some 4.10 gears, and a stiff wall ET drag will get you down into the low 12s! Just make sure you tow it there so you don’t end up stranded if the stock 28 spline axles give up on you. Beautiful car brother!
I learned how to drive Manuel in that car, It one of my favorite cars ever. Good job bringing it back to its prime
She's choppin hard! Love it man. Reminds me of the red foxbody my neighbor had when I was growing up.
Yess finally. Love the build and you guys vids. Car is so sick
I,m glad to see your Ford Mustang GT Foxbody
I think the very clear next step is skip the Nitrous and go straight for the supercharger, Kenne Bell makes a great 2.1L Flowzilla supercharger that slaps on and will add an extra 150hp for a relatively reasonable price of about $4000. Good luck finding one though, all the old foxbody guys bought those things out in bulk back in the early 2000's.
Slicks and NOS for the high 10 second run.
Should put a drag wing on it, some billet specialties, a two step and a bunch of Motion Raceworks goodies.
Congrats! She’s a beauty!
Incredible job saving this former show car. It is improved in every way.
Can we take a moment and appreciate his 3 cad garage?!? That thing looks sweet! And love the car too it’s so nice now
Thanks I had to move out to the country to get it
Excellent work!!!
it's the middle finger for me HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Nice job with the car Jakub!
You only need to polish the interior, tight build, super fun to drive.
Ben is the man!
That thing was really cool to see at cayuga test and tune night.
👍👍
12.8 not even slicks is very nice! Great work!
THE WAIT IS OVER! 🙏🙏
I owned one of these brand new in 88 and I would not spend 50K on one to make it this nice . I Realize it's Canadian $ but that's a lot of money for this platform IMO . people make drag car's but if you weren't alive when they were new I don't know why you would want one . I miss some of my cars from my youth but my 1988 5.0 MT GT is NOT one of them .
Interesting cars as they signalled that the HP wars were back on and that the 70s awful car period was over and muscle and fast cars were coming back . The Buick GN really proved that and then the 98 SS Camaro and Terminator Mustang made it clear the war was on , but beyond that I have little love for the 3 fox bodies I owned beyond thinking they were OK at the time for a NEW CAR after the malaise . My Mom had an 87 Vert that I took over 130 which was its max speed I believe ( took forever to reach ) and then when I slowed down I destroyed the brakes in one high speed stop , they are / were pretty rudimentary cars with DRUMS in the rear .
I DID like the seats and the interior was actually nicer then Mustangs that came after it it that were gross .
There was NOTHING wrong with that paint job before!
Except all the rust
Looks so good now, even b4 I would of killed for the before condition 😫
Good on ya Sir she’s a beauty!!
Fox body is the goated mustang
You should put some nice LX tail lights !
Cheese graters for life
RIP 2yurious 😞
For better 1/4 mile times, slicks and rear gears....
Nice foxbody
Did you mean Joe DaSilva? He's the Mustang master
Letter cams are best cams but if you want better cams I personally would not have gone with the E cause it’s not the greatest for stick cars more of an x,b 303 cam I would have gone with
ouch, 45k us. Inflation and labor is a mother.... I miss buying those cars for dirt cheap, hard to even find a basket case these days for decent price before some one buys them to part out
Jakub can we get a short of ur watch collection
I show my watches on my insta
No way 15 grand for bodywork was better than getting a cleaner shell
For a moment I thought this was western champlin
I'm not that cool
Damn we got ourselves a ford guy over here
I am jealous. I want one
It came out so clean! Also thank you for not breaking this into a multi part video lol, these straight shot videos are so much satisfying. Congrats man!
Great job jakub! Too bad 2Yurious couldn’t experience the same transformation 😢

Can someone confirm whether or not Jakub's garage is always this clean?
Yes
@@TheStraightPipes good answer 😂
I envy anyone who has a big 3 garage, especially one this clean and done up!! 👌👌🔥🔥
@@hypnotoad2999 what's that got to do with anything? I see plenty of people who don't work on theirs with a dirty garage
UPDATE: APPARENTLY my head liner is going to ship this week 🤣
UPDATE: the headliner arrived and it's the wrong grey and the company won't refund it 🙃

@@TheStraightPipes I’m sure it’ll look just fine.
Ordered my 1988 5.0 notchback Mustang LX on Dec 23, 1987. Picked it up in February, 1988. Had exactly one option on it: 5.0. no A/C, no cruise, and the radio delete. $10,500 USD . Put a set of Flowmasters and tires on it and off to the races.. Thanks for this blast from the past. You got me thinking now of a fun project 'Stang. Your car is sick!
EDIT: Also just found the paperwork for the 1982 5.0 notchback that started it all: Ordered this one in March, 5,1982: 5,0 option was $452, A/C $676, also ordered T-tops (all the rage back then!) for $521. Even power steering ($190) and power brakes ($93) were extra (!). Loaded it with cruise control ($155) and AM/FM cassette, w/premium sound ($289). Ended up at $9,200 for the car. BTW, that is equal to $27,866 in USD today.
Damn that's wild
Hey that's actually a really good price
Wrong. I had one. AC was not a standard option to have to order without it, or cruise for that matter. Lots were full of LX 5.0 manual mustangs with no ac or cruise, just pick a color. They had cheap crappy radios to yank out. Change the gears, pulleys and a few other cheap simple. That price you listed is close to what the dealer paid.
That’s such a great feeling getting a personal best on the first run. I’ve managed that a few times in my life and it’s euphoria!
honestly I couldnt tell you why but the Fox body is still my favorite style. dont get me wrong I think the new ones are absolute gorgeous but there is just something about the fox. it helps too that the Notch back was so unbelievable ugly in comparison I suppose. Also on a side note you should try the Flowmaster 20 series for mufflers , hands downs the best muffler sounds ever for mustangs.
Definitely the perfect car. The Sound, the color, and the gauges. You can truly make a fox body into a incredible machine 🦊🏎
Good build, thank you for saving the car. Fox bodies were once in abundance but have really disappeared over the last decade. Mega props on the phone dialers. I also think I had (maybe still do) the issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords this car was in.
Haha thanks
Congrats, Jakub. This video took me back 54 years, my good old days. One thing, in a couple of the straight-on side shots it appears that the driver’s door reflects differently than the front and rear panels, to the extent it looks close, but not quite right.
Guess it's just the way the sun hits the door angle with the flake. Everything was painted at the same time
@@TheStraightPipes Nonetheless, sweet machine.👍
Good catch, I noticed that too.
Personally think the car is perfect as it is, but being your car, you make it how you want it to be.
Can I just appreciate how much of a smile this car puts on my face every time you burn the tires. I have a 87 GT in the backyard it's been sitting for over a decade or 2, it belonged to my great granddad and he passed it down to my granddad. I've been trying to get it from under him so I could at least fix it up and get her back on the road, but he ain't going for it and I can't blame him 😂. I go back there and keep it clean and pop the hood and just stare at the 5.0 just thinking. "Damn I want this so bad"😂😂, but hey can't go against granddad's word if he said No then you better not🤷🏾♂️.
Still makes me happy seeing one back in action.
You'll get it eventually
@@TheStraightPipes thanks man I'll keep my hopes up
Is it at least running or sitting going down??
Man this is awesome 👏 and yessss you two should do more cheap car, suv, truck challenges 👏
You have changed my mind, on fox-body Mustangs. I love this. I think it would look even better if it was a little lower, but I get the drag strip vibe, too.
Magnificent build Jakub, I've always loved the Fox bodys and I now think this is my favorite one ahah. Loved this style of video, can't wait to see more builds!!
Congrats on the build! You guys have definitely put in the time and effort to build the channel and you should enjoy the fruits of your labor.
I love how stoked Yuri was for you when you broke into the 12s!
Sadly soon all combustion cars and trucks including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-(
In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025
on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Car washs will be forbidden too because they are climate killers, now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!! (BABVVEN & TEBBVEN & BEFVO laws)
Cool car and build guys, but holy sheeet can i think of ALOT better cars to buy or smarter things to do with that $50k, but then again you really didnt spend your own money soooo yea. I get it you had alot of sponsors and "help" (my question is what did any of these companies that "helped" gain/benefit from doing this? Did you offer like free bjs from the wife? lol jk). Idk it seems like alot of work/time/money and they didnt get paid a dime for it? I know (atleast a sane man) wouldnt be dumping this much into a rusted old 5.0 out of their very own pocket. So imho this kinda makes the whole build like not really plausible in the "real world" and a low key flex...
This gives me big nostalgia back to the mid 90s, congrats on the great build!
Ah, flipping thru all that Canadian Monopoly money looked satisfying! Lol.
Love how this was produced, felt very different. Trying new things 👌🏻
I love well built Fox Body build. Yours is so clean, and a great sleeper comparison to the restomod that Farah had years back. Great build!
Build or swap the trans. That is the last step to no brainer reliability, you can beat on it all day and not worry about that old gearbox. Otherwise perfect car!
amazing build, sweet spot for power in a rwd muscle car1
The car is 8/10, i think the wheels could be a bit better.
Congrats dude this thing is beautiful 😍
That Mustang was period-correct example of a 1990s Performance Improvements wankermobile. The rescue was worth the time and money.
Dixie Bloor Service lol
I grew up at the building beside Grants Food Market, back in the day some crazy cars would come out of that garage!!
I wouldn't mess with the performance much more other than maybe brakes and rigidity, and focus more attention on getting that interior minty and some creature comforts like a radio and A/C.
Jacob this car sounds amazing and looks amazing, great job saving this beautiful pony!
Thanks
This thing sounds incredible. I really want a Fox Body mustang and Nissan 240/280 one day
Ah, a Foxbody 5.0 was my first "fast" car. Still miss it and would love another someday.
aint no way this is $50K this is dumb lol, maybe worth $12K at MOST but it was better left original. what a fail.
This is one of my dream resto-mod builds even though they are not that old. Would love to make one a drag car.
Ben kinda reminds me of Obi Wan Kenobi
Tuscan raiders are so scared of him
Perfect. Learned so much.
Buy a new mustang for less money and a warranty. Got it.
Foxbody and SN95 mustang is best mustang because they look the least mustang out of all the mustangs but still sound bitchin af.
Looking great and like a whole lot of fun. Congrats Jakub :-)
If you want to improve your Quartermile time and save your transmission, just get a Old School Turbonique Turbo-Axle :-D
When I saw the thumbnail, my heart skipped a beat. It's a dead ringer for an 89 I had back in the mid-90's. Wheels, color (close enough, mine was regular red) and stance.
I love everything except you should have kept the 90s billet 3 spoke wheels, and take it to radwood
That guage cluster screen is dope! Not sure why I never even thought a digital display like that wouldn't be doable, but why not eh, if its not an all-original build, why the heck not.
The ChrisFix of drag racing.
Home here in Automation Alley... You know this would be the first thing most of us would go for down here 😁
Don't ever sell this car because it won't get you your money back and you would miss it.
I really like the dash panel. I have a 89 fox body. I've had it for over 20 yrs. It's won a few car shows. I keep it all original. Keep Mustang Alive.
In 10 years somebody will put flames back on it. Full circle
Where's Yuuri? On another note -- the car looks and sounds brilliant!!! Because of you, this is my dream car -- how much ;)
You should also see if Petrolicious would be interested in doing a documentary on your car...
He did his 350z video
looked better before(besides damage) now it looks same as all the others you see everywhere
I like cars but I don't understand burnouts. Someone please enlighten me.
The digital instrument cluster is the only thing I truly hate about this build. Everything else is chef’s kiss. Love it.
You're so right. That thing is awful.
Saving a Ford Mustang from the Junkyard in two easy steps: 1. Eliminate live rear axel. 2. Eliminate Mustang Drivers.
Live rear axles are the best for drag racing.
@@angelgjr1999 Yes, dragging that heap of twisted metal off the road. 😜🚑🚓🚗

This video made me smile so much. This is what car culture is all about. You seem absolutely giddy.
Yo I'm glad I found this video simply due to the exhaust having a valve
Yuri said: "NOOOOO!!!!! MONICA!!!!!!" - if you know, you know
Great video. I built one a little better than yours for less than $5,000. I just started the channel. Fox Daddy RUclips Channel. You are absolutely right , a person better know what they are doing. This car belongs to my son. He got it when he was 13 three years ago. We paid $700 Zero rust. The car is show quality restoration. I love these things. I love that we are all building them again. Anyways love your car and channel. Take care.
I remember when he first gm found this car I honestly liked it more before
Why stop there? Upgrade the transmission and differential.
That thing came out nice!
But can we take a second to take in the fact that a Ford outlasted a Honda
I hope you did all the sub from connectors and bracing. The fox chassis are like cooked spaghetti stock. Impressive you were able to find unbroken stock seats from that era the driver inboard seat backs always break off. Looks cool.
Making me miss my white 88 GT with the vortech supercharger and maroon interior.
Most Fox bodies have too many stress cracks all over....especially the 5.0 cars. Your best bet is to buy a 4 cylinder and engine swap it. You can still find a few out there. IMO the hot ticket right now is the New Edge. Essentially the same car, a little better built and still super cheap. I am doing a 2001 6 cylinder right now to an LS Turbo. Shooting for around 600-700hp. A project you can do easily under $10k if you have the skills. I bought the car in good shape for $1000 running, and I sold the cats for $600. Ready to go project for $400. :D
That's awesome. Where do you live you can find a new edge running for 1k?
@@julianbryant1115 I'm in NC and bought right before the car craziness. I am sure it will die down and they will be there again. Nice thing is they show up at our local Pull A Part all the time. Parts are still plentiful and cheap.
I'm sorry but there's not one $ 50,000 fox body on the face of the planet......lol
As long as you're sorry for being wrong then everything is okay!
