Wade and Ember being able to touch is actually based in real-life science. It's called the Leidenfrost effect which is when water like Wade touches a hot surface like Ember which creates a layer of steam like the one you see when they first touch, which acts as an insulator for Wade, preventing him from vaporizing and by extension, Ember from getting extinguished.

The only reason Wade was able to survive at the end was because he condensed onto the rocks in the chimney. Had the chimney not been blocked, he would have been gone for good. In other words, Wade was saved by the very thing that prevented them from escaping.

Exactly. Water people are water in liquid state. Should they evaporate without being able to condensate, they are gonners. However... I do wonder how did Wade's father died. Did he evaporate or, just like with Ember's grandmother who just burned out, did he like... lost his form?

One thing I see people misunderstanding is Ember's father's whole role. He raised her with the belief she wanted to take over the shop. Not once did she say other wise or show any other interests, so he threw all his eggs into one basket. Ember only learns she doesn't want to run the shop when she meets Wade. Yet, even then she doesn't tell her father so people are getting upset that he won't stop pushing her to run the shop, but in his eyes he's not doing that. He believes he's supporting her dreams. It's only after the flood when Ember tells him that she doesn't want to run the shop that you can see it all click in his head.

It's true that he's not the bad guy or a bad guy in general, but it's also true that if you're gonna raise your kid oriented to do your same job, as a parent you have to be aware that they can maybe just be into it bc that's all they have known as that's what you have given them and that eventually they can get to know and get interested in other things, so it is important to let clear for them that if they ever decide to do something different then that's fine, from the begging, just in case. The dad never did that and that's why Ember felt forced to do it and like it was the only thing she could ever do, what she needed and what he wanted, that's why she hides she doesn't want to do it, making him eventually unaware of what she wants truly, it's a cycle.
Ofc that doesn't mean he's a bad dad but parenting is a hard job and there's like a million of things you have to be sure get to your kid, so not noticing you may be showing to your kid there's only one path, making them feel bad and wanting to hide that that's not what they want, creating the whole problem, is a mistake in parenting (one that if it kept going would have ended in the same way that the whole thing with the grandpa did), but it's that, a mistake, so definitely doesn't make him a bad dad, more like a flawed one which is just realistic, bc no one is perfect.
His intentions were good and he didn't do anything huge, and he understood her and prioritized her happiness pretty quickly when he found out, which lets us see what a good father he is actually.

@@jrlombardi5251 I didn't read more than a few lines, that was way too long. There are actually things that nobody mentions about this movie that I really like:
    1 - it reminds me of some works of modern comics-artists but if it was made with a huge budget. It is what I really wanted for last 10-15 years. There are so many talented stories made by not so rich people that deserves to be invested in instead of another remake movie from Disney. And this story felt like one of them;
2 - the second thing I like is actually almost the same as previous but about the art of the movie. I really like the animation and I mean how they made every character simplistic and cartoonish with amazing use of what this type of animation can give us. I actually not a fan of trend to make cartoons look "realistic" as much as possible. What then the meaning of it to be cartoon? Of course sometimes the tone of the movie needs more realistic style of art but it seems that it was overused now. And as I said before - many artists now have a great "cartoonish and simplistic" style of drawings and big studios really should take them for work

Chemist here! When Ember is jumping on the crystals, she's not actually changing her color. It represents the minerals reacting to the presence of fire.
In one of my chem class, we used to light different ionized metals on fire with a Bunsen burner to figure out the metal based on the resulting color.
I always loved that copper compounds changed color depending on if it's in liquid form vs exposed to fire.

If you are wondering about Wade and Ember's respective ages... Ember is on her early 20s... maybe 22. But with Wade we have a precise age. He was 16 when his dad died and the events of the movie happen a decade later, meaning that he is 26. Also... the end credits were supposed to show Ember and Wade returning home with a child that was made of steam, but they decided to not include that because they didn't want to take way the attention from the real message of the movie. However... there is a storyboard where we see their steam baby.

I think that Bernie just thought that inheriting the shop was Ember's dream as well. You can see how she, as a young girl, was always excited in helping her dad at the shop and at the idea of inheriting it. But children grow up and find new dreams or grow out of the ones they already had. It's what happened with Ember. She got dissatisfied with working at the shop, being why her temper was always getting the best of her. Once she found a dream that truly satisfied her, she was able to fully understand the reason behind her temper.

Unlike Azula who created blue flames the same way everyone else made red flames, minerals burn with different colors with the same heat. depending on what mineral is burning, the color is different. The melting pot story put simple. It should not be looked at too logically. The clouds are "air" element, but you are right that is a different form of the water element (water vapor). But the could can also be a thunder cloud, lightning/electricity has potential to start/become fire, etc. And water being an natural element (the flooding and pipes), just as fire, or rain from the (rain)clouds.... similar to Minnie Mouse having a pet cat. Goofy being a dog, and Pluto a pet dog. It's suspended logic to go with the flow for the moral of the story.
Also with the ball of air holding Ember, there was a lot of convenience writing in it. At multiple occasions.
Still, all this said, was a nice movie.
A lot of Zootopia elements in it, and I can see how it can be seen as Romeo & Juliet, or just a generic love story.
Also the non-western elements in it. Wood instead of earth.
Western/European elements; Earth, Air, Fire, Water (& Aether)
Eastern/Asian elements [Wuxing]: Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, Metal
Avatar & the bending of the elements also has some twists on what element is or isn't together. Earth benders -> Metal benders.
Even if they can love, not sure how they would reproduce? Not that this is needed, but with the blue flame heritage narrations, just a thought.

I was like, "See, disney? Pixar is picking up your slack!" Because they havent done a love story in AAAAGEEEEES!!!
But there are somethongs that was either uneeded or doesnt help the story. For example, Clod wasnt funny. I know he was SUPPOSED to be a comic relief character, but he didnt make me laugh, and he also was uneeded.
I really wanted to have a flash back of wades dad. His dad was only mentioned and not shown. I felt like the fear of 🧽 could have been a flah back of wades father.
The romance was top notch! ( i am a disney love expert, after all) so was the comedy! I loved the drip drip goes the baby boy. I was laughing so hard!
The fact that i could relate to wade was awesome! But was expected. I usually have funny characters being my favorite.
Most of my favorite boy characters have love interests. Most of my favorite girl characters dont have love interests.
