  • While exploring some woods a few towns from my home I came across this built-up stone wall area and thought nothing of it. Later I returned after having looked at a map from 1895 and realized that what I had discovered was an old foundation- which led to yet another nearby cellar hole. Both of them matched up exactly to a homestead that stood there long ago. As I looked closer I saw a few bottles and other items in this pit and decided to take a closer look. It's certainly a place I'll be headed back to at some point to dig and sift. #bottledigging #metaldetecting #relics #antiques #abandonedplaces

Great video! Cool finds. I’ll mull over ideas of how to use your finds.🌺

Back prior to the 1970s, rural folks typically had a low area on their property where they threw all of their bottles, and tin cans and other such usually went into a different pile or hole... More crowded areas or neighborhood like areas would have a local dumping spot, usually a deep hole or largeish depression in the ground on a spot of land useless for anything else, and they often became the first city or county dump for those areas..
The fact he's finding so many unbroken bottles leads me to believe that this was a private garbage pile for a local family,or several families...

Yes- I found a surface dump like that (early 1900s) which is in one of my other videos. I found some great stuff in there- some keepers, and a few things I even sold.

Definitely mosaic art, like tabletops or trays inlaid with broken crockery bits and such, is a sure bet.
Bottlenecks I have seen made into mobiles/windchimes/suncatchers, strung with fishing line and beads and other shiny things.
Or guitar slides, maybe, if cut down and smoothed? Taper candle holders, if mounted into a base?
    My brain gears are turning...
    Love when you discover treasure!

Mosaics aren't always just tile pieces. A small found art glass and other small bits tabletop could be interesting...

Yes you probably could collect enough medal bits in there to make a house/car payment... lol...

Probably would be beneficial to grab a metal detector.
