A few mystery items in here where I have no clue as to their origin/use- any idea? Let me know...

Fun dig! Make sure you dig all the way to the bottom, that's often where you find the oldest bottles (and there tends to be more at the bottom too). Start at the riverbank and work your way up!

It’s such an addicting hobby. Anytime I’m not digging I’m thinking about digging lol. Those little tiny bottles are Liver Pills. I have one with a paper label. Looks like you are digging a lot of the same bottles I find here in Vermont. Good stuff 👍

I used to bottle hunt in northern Westchester, Putnam and in the Catskills. The coolest find ever was when I was turtle hunting in Southampton, NY. I stuck my hand down into the muck at the edge of Old Town Pond and what I thought was a turtle... was an old ceramic Dundee Marmalade jar.

Thats pretty cool! I'm a big fan of turtles too- my brother and I used to obsessively catch em/look for them (catch and release).

@@streetsshallprovide2029 I used to catch them - painted turtles mostly - de-leech them and throw them back in.

Great video! Excellent treasure. Cool snakes! Know what they are?🌺

Yes- the smaller one is a "Dekay's Brown Snake" and the larger one a common Garter Snake. I found a few "Ring Necked Snakes" too- which will be in another video.

Yeah, I, too, think that those embossed bottles are cool but my wife isn't impressed. My last house (eastern MA) was built in 1874. I found the place out back at the edge of the woods where they dumped their trash. I found a couple beer cans that were not in the identification books. The biggest find (literally) was the frame of a very old car, with a tree growing through it. It was too embedded in the wetlands to remove.

1874- nice! Probably all sorts of goodies hidden in and around it. House next to mine is from 1780s or so- I'd love to excavate where an old outbuilding once stood, but the owners have been using the spot to dump leaves and lawn clippings forever, so it would take quite some time to uncover....

Always keep old beer cans. They can be cleaned up with oxalic acid. Some beer cans are worth good money even if they are in poor shape. Some very rare beer cans have been found in Massachusetts.
