Two years ago the folks over at Bitrex sent the L.A. BEAST a small little jar of what looked like water. What the BEAST did not know was that this liquid was actually Denatonium Benzoate aka THE MOST BITTER SUBSTANCE IN EXISTENCE according to The Guinness Book of World Records. Bitrex which has many purposes can be used to prevent biting your finger nails, you can put it on trash bins to deter animals from rummaging through them, but the main use for this bitter substance is to keep children safe if they accidentally get into the cleaning products underneath the sink and swallow any of the chemicals. Bitrex is SO BITTER that just one drop on your tongue will make you feel nauseous and if you put 1 table spoon of the stuff in an Olympic sized swimming pool, it will ruin the water.
A few years back, the L.A. BEAST dumped the entire jar of BITREX onto some WarHEad Candies and then tried to eat all 10 of them. After placing the first War head candy on his tongue, the L.A. BEAST had realized that he had made the worst mistake of his life, and by the 6th war head candy, it was over and out for the BEAST. So today, in an effort to redeem himself, the L.A. BEAST has mastered the ART of SPEED EATING Bananas and after injecting 8 of them with some Bitrex, he not only plans to overcome the bitterness but in the process set an unofficial Guinness World Records Title.

Yeah, that bothered me too, but those bottled lemon juices like that almost always have a certain amount of lemon oil squeezed from the peel in them, and that (like the pith) is bitter (although not among the _most_ bitter foodstuffs).
