My comment is that it is correct that all the main rebars are continuous and no splicing are involed. But why there are just 4 main rebars and the rebar hoops are so few and spaced apart? There should be at least 16 main rebars and no splicing and all must be continous. The rebar hoops are to connect the main rebars together and at the same time to contain the poured concrete once it has hardened and cured in 45 days. The rebar hoops are also to be used internally in a crisscrossing pattern to help further secure the main rebars together internally.

For me, those support bars as you've mentioned are actually also called "temperature bars" (longitudinal) and can be spliced anywhere with minimum splice length per specs. The only main concerns for temperature bars (aside from its minimum splice length) are the 1). minimum size of rebar, and 2). its maximum spacing. And, "Inviting disaster" for that support bars or temp. bars? No. Sorry to disagree. The main bars (tranversal or along shorter span) are the ones that take care of that critical stresses as designed... Btw, i have a question, is there no provision for TOP MAIN tension bars (at supports) on this particular slab per plan drawings and specs.? Thx.

But in Russia we are now gradually using mechanical bolt clamps on a universal basis and are made out of tungsten-vanadium-chromium steel against geological seismic waves and against geological shockwaves of detonating thermo-nuclear warheads. We tack weld them to be assured of a secured hold as a rule of thumb. In your country which is full of earthquakes, you should be using these mechanical bolt clamps.

Yes, because steel decking is only applicable to 1 way slab. It is not advisable to 2 way slab.
