Very interesting process that they use for prestressed concrete. In Florida I watched a similar operation, but it was entirely outside . Concrete is a wonderful building product.
About 20 years ago, I had friends that would buy old Villas, do them up and sell them. She did the finishing, and planning, buying, he did all the drafting, building, plumbing work himself. He would do the opposite, pour concrete into styrofoam walls, then clad w wood, to match the existing Villa. Very cheap, back then, and warm.
The precision in this concrete slab-making process is incredible! The way they use steam treatment to harden the slab and make it more durable is mind-blowing.
Thank you for that information. When they added the large foam inserts , I was trying to understand the use of the product. The video header should be “ Making insulated concrete barrier”.
Great work. Thanks for the video. You gave me an idea for a construction project I have coming up. This has been helpful and enjoyable to watch. And your English worked just fine for the video. Stay happy.
are those prestressed slabs? is it why they are upward bent since there is a force within the slab. First, strands pulled by hydraulic jacks, when released, transfer the force to concrete through friction when it already matured. after this process the slab can carry extra load!

I know about insulating concrete from the ground, but not about using a very weak material within the structure. This seems counterintuitive. We reinforce / prestress concrete with steel and than add STYROFOAM??

@ yes, I agree. The foam is an insulation material, not structural element but in my experience this foam can deteriorate over time and become damp and then mouldy
Love the ignorant comments on this. The only thing I saw wrong is how the vibrators are being used to consolidate. Mix design looks to have a HRWR to allow for flow, so “not too much water”. Using polystyrene is a common material used with concrete these days. Prestressed beams, all good.
The sides of those slabs should be about an inch thicker , as that reinforcing metal inside that concrete is now too close to the edge of the concrete and with break the concrete Prematurely because of that :(

What a meticulously precise technique to produce such large, heavy structural panels!
A fascinating video with witty narration, thank you!
Cool... I'd heard of pre-tensioned slabs before, but had never seen one made (let alone, with a styrofoam center!) Thanks!!!
Same here! And now we know!

Yea, at first I thought these were going to be load bearing. Styrofoam should never be used in load bearing structures.

It makes the overall structure lighter, so the actual load bearing cores are holding a LOT less weight.
It evens itself out
