    "Risk vs benefit" is repeated on multiple platforms, but it's no risk to the dentist office, no choice to the patient; and whether or not it injures you the bill gets paid.

    I refused dental X-rays and my dentist went ballistic! I never get cavities because I brush and floss after every meal…. I go somewhere else now to get my teeth cleaned where they don’t forced them . The last X-rays I got were from 2018 and that is all they are getting. I get my teeth cleaned at the Periodontist now instead of the dentist…. My dentist is the biggest crook. He tries to intimidate me.

      I had a dentist refuse me services today because I would not consent to the x-ray. They can make 4-6x the money on the x-rays than on the cleaning.

      My sister was never the same after she had an x-ray from one of her sessions she's had numerous ulcers not to bad but keep popping up . Yes to keep them at bay but doesn't trust the dentist no more as the actual bit where she had to bite down on for x-ray made her sore afterwards

      X ray should only be used in patient who had real dental problem
      If your teeth looks good and health. No need to do the x ray thats a bit excessive

    I tell them whats going on. And dont let them tell me. Never have any complaints. They may not like it. But I'm living my life for me. And I'm not letting anyone control me.

    But here is the manipulation :
    While the amount of X Rays we get a day is diffused through all off the body, The same amount of Dentel X-Ray are focused in a very small area, which makes it VERY Intense and dangerous.
    Surprisingly , Doctors who should be objective to their patients, forget to mention this important fact.

    The ADA recommends dentists to only take x-rays when there is an indication that the patient may have issues. Not as a routine.

    they always tell you "it's less than a microwave" or "there is more radiation in the environment" or "we are more advanced now, so we don't use as much radiation as before." People who depend on radiation scans for their business are always bias.

    One only has to check.. There are strong correlations between dental x ray and cancer.
    I had a lot of x ray done because of a botched root canal... And it left me with some brown spots on that side of the cheek. Exactly where the x-ray machine was taking its images. I bet many of the cancers in that area... Neck mouth throat voice box and even brain tumors are triggered by numerous x-rays from dentist... Yet they don't even mention the dangers to you.

      What he say is logical
      X ray have benefit but also do damage 100%
      Its an advantage against some damage
      The x ray would be justified if patient really has visible dental problem
      But if all looks fine. X ray is very excessive

      I've been to the dentist and had multiple x rays done... I now have more often toothaches and I feel a pressure in my head getting worse slowly. . . Anyone who is exposed to x rays will most likely suffer in some way or shape...
      X ray machines don't grow on trees they aren't natural

      The risks are very clear! X- Rays spare no cells. They pass through every cell at the point of exposure. Mutations happen without a doubt. Question is, will those mutations turn n to cancer sooner or later? Do you really want to keep increasing your odds so these pricks can make money?
      Sure if you have pain and terrible mouth issues go ahead and get the X-rays. If you’re healthy with no issues… please think of your future. They quote 2-4 millirems per xray! A bilateral requires 4 X-rays once a year. That’s 8 to 16 mRem just like that high dose concentrated in one area of your body and next to vital organs such as your brain, lymph nodes, eyes, ears and throat. Ask them to put in writing that it is harmless and see how they won’t because it’s not fucking harmless. They are liars!

    Everytime I go to the dentist, I get xrays, I get the bill, I get zero explanation for the result. In fact if dentist were less omnipotent and more interactive with the explanation, one might could justify receiving the xray. BTW, if they are so incredibly safe, why does the technician leave the room.

    This guy says nothing about the rate of induced cancers due to dental x-rays, I wonder why? And this radiation dose business is very misleading because it does not take into account the effects of x-ray intensity. Our daily 7m-s of background radiation is delivered in 24hrs, whereas a 2m-s dental x-ray is delivered in one half second... this means a dental x-ray is around 50,000 times more intense than background radiation. My dentist and I have an understanding... absolutely no routine x-rays, not ever!

    • @Ryan-my5lz
      @Ryan-my5lz 3 года назад +2

      Absolutely! You can’t compare a small concentrated area being pounded with radiation on an extremely short timeframe compared to an entire 24 hour period of radiation sprinkled on your entire body. Obviously the laserbeam concentrated one is way more likely to cause cancer.

    • @mslt3353

      That is EXACTLY how it does not work. No space in RUclips comment for lecture but please do basic research and apply concept of validity of the source, you will find that for chance cancer it absolutely does not matter weather dosage is spread on time or concentrated, makes ZERO difference. Don't use common sense, common sense has very little to do with facts.

    Once again, comparing natural radiation to man made beams that enter every nucleus, as though ultraviolet and x rays are the SAME THING, which they are not. UV rays stop at the skin. Nowhere, not anywhere is there anything in nature comparable to a man made x ray beam.

    We all need to consider that we are now bombarded with wifi and cell phone radiation beyond the testing that was done in the past for the dentist x-rays. I can pickup > 10 wifi signals around me all the time. Everyday the signals increase. When was the last time all of this was tested in combination with the dentist x-rays?

    @Nav0555 Год назад +2

    Great video but 1 major mistake. You said millisievert but you meant microsievert. 1000microsievert = 1millisievert. E.g. background radiation is 2.7 milliesievert = 2700 microsievert. Please edit the video incase it confuses students who would lose marks in exams

  • @seattledutch

    Regarding dosage, compared with background radiation is not correct as the radiation is concentrated in a small area as opposed your entire body. Especially your brain. So you would need to multiply that by several times. Possible up to 10-20 times.
