this is one of those things where the functional practicality and convenience of a thing is so high that people will just ignore the very real danger associated with using it
EXACTLY!! My Dentist is the biggest CROOK! He is a horrible thief. NO RADIATION IS SAFE! Gee why does the fake hygienist run out of the room? When X-rays are taken.. DENTISTS go way way overboard with X-rays!
The x ray machine is the most expensive thing in the dental office, they have to pay for it somehow. Finding every little excuse to x ray you and your kids is how they make the most money, as though $300 per hour fixing teeth isn't enough $$
Background radiation occurs 24 hours a day, throughout the entire body. So you’re saying you’re going to fire all that radiation focussed into a fraction of a second, to a very small part of my head?
Yea they're not "dangerous" but that doesn't mean you should feel free to get at many as you want. It all seems trivial till you have thyroid cancer in your 20's. Typical dentist who is claiming to be an expert in radiology, yet completely omits the ADA and FDA's own recommendations. I recommend searching for: American Thyroid Association (ATA) Issues Policy Statement on Minimizing Radiation Exposure from Medical, Dental Diagnostics
Exposure to radiation is cumulative. While a small number of doses may not cause an issue, the number of doses that an individual receives over their lifetime has an unknown impact since the number of xrays a person receives in their lifetime is not required to be kept track of. I believe that Japan has the lowest use of xrays for dentistry.
What are the effects on dentists who are getting exposed to dozens of x rays daily ? I have a sensor and my x ray machine does images in 0.12 exposure time
they tend to penetrate soft tissue like skin, muscle, etc; and they don't penetrate hard substances like bone. That's why what you see on an xray is just a "shadow" of what is left after you beam all the xrays through the body - the areas on the film where xrays penetrated completely to the other side (from the xray source to the film behind your body) turn the film black, and the areas that were obstructed by bone and didn't make it to the film remain white. Many hard non-biological substances are not penetrated by xrays, like lead. That's why protective gear for xrays are typically made of lead.
What did you expect a dentist to say?😅 A dentist talking about the safety if dental xray creates a conflict of interest between his/her commercial motives - espwdially since there are few other options tonimage your teeth- and your health.

Asking dentists if X rays are safe is like asking tobacco companies if cigarettes are harmful

Exactly!
Children don't need alot of x rays every year
So when they have to retake the xray 12 times its fine?
Hypothetically, could a crazy, evil dentist who hates a patient crank up the X ray machine to 11 and give someone a cancer inducing dose of radiation?

Hello, how are you? I have a question, please, what are the materials that x-rays cannot penetrate
