Love your video, practical upgrades suited for you. Been watching for years, you've been my inspiration for ever.Put to use many of your suggestions in my own off grid life of 5 years in the Sonoran Desert.Keep up the great service to our community.
Been watching your videos for ages mate. Really loving how your cabin is starting to now get to the stage of extensions and upgrading. You were literally the inspiration for me about off grid cabins and projects. Really awesome to see your doing well and the black suits didn't come get you :D All the best, Robert
Your remodel is looking sweet with the new paneling on the walls! I replaced my CCFL's in my place two years ago with LED's ranging from 3 watts to 9 watts, depending on what the light was being used for. I've managed to get my electric bill down to an average of $42.00/month due to swapping out my stuff for more energy efficient equipment. Once I save enough for my own Monolithic Dome Cabin, I plan on adding an extensive battery / generator / solar / wind setup to make it as redundant as possible. I'll still be hooked up to the grid for convenience, but will be all set if the grid goes down for any reason. I also plan on doing the same with my water supply for redundancy, and will have municipal water, well, and a rain catchment system with on site storage. I've learned a ton of information from your channel, as well as many other people's channels here on RUclips. I have been planning on getting my own place for some time now. When I finally make it a reality, I will be one happy person!
Good job LaMar! I really like the stove makeover, too cute. Thank you for sharing painting from your mom and couch where your son gets to sleep when he visits. I also like the brackets under the shelves, nice touch. Take care!
JUST STUMBLED ONTO YOUR VIDEOS, I SAW YOUR FIRST INTERIOR OF YOUR CABIN, NOW I HAVE SEEN THE REMODEL, WOW, WHAT A GREAT JOB YOU ARE DOING!!! THANKS FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!
I've learned a lot by watching your videos over the years. Great remodel I'm loving it. Love everything you've done so far. The painting you mom did for you is absolutely gorgeous.
I really like your cabin and you did divide the space nicely. It is cosy and cool! Nice Indeed! right now i am reparing a small flat i bought, it is just 30 square meters and although it is not a cabin it is giving me the opportunity to see how a small space can became a real Home! and who knows maybe one day i will build my own cabin :-) Thanks for sharing!
Right on Brother! You get your add on put in, look into a wood fed, steel 50 gallon drum rocket stove. You get the right pipe setup, you got a way for hot water, heat, with almost no smoke.
Wow !Hey Stranger !So great to see another video from you !dont knock it ....your place has lots of rustic charm and you should be very proud of your self brother !I love your channel and I am so happy your back! I would like to add the cedar wall is awesome and gives the place lots of charm and visual interest !Love the fire place and your Mama's painting! You have a very cool cabin !
I’m a new subscriber.loving your home.and all the new additions.lights.kitchen cabinets.fridge etc.so looking forward to seeing new videos too.have a good day from England 🇬🇧.
The pine paneling is NICE! Also, the wood should add another layer of insulation from the weather outside. Looking forward to seeing the solar power system revamp!! Thanks for all the videos!!
I love how down to earth, honest and genuine you are. Thank you for sharing your personal space with us. I have always loved tiny spaces like tree houses or club houses as a child and now after being married and since divorced twice and having lived in very large and beautiful homes working full time, raising children one being an adult child developmentally now she is 25 and I still care for her full time, I haven't slept in 27 years lol !!! I can't wait to be free of the house I currently rent once my youngest son is a grown up !! That was way more info than anyone cared to know I'm sure haha but anyway thank you for showing me I won't have to have a gazillion dollars for this to be a reality for my future.
Your cabin is really looking nice Lamar. You really dressed things up a lot. I like your stove its really cool looking. Really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming. take care.
Great video on the remodel! I had watched your video on the original build along time ago and keep coming back here dreaming of doing this. Thanks for sharing, Lee
Thanks for the update Lamar. I also wanted to thank you for the help you are sharing with the recreation vehicle groups on face book. You are so full of information for all of us to learn from.
Wow I think u did a really good job...looks way more homy. ..love ur mom's painting...it's a very good memory to keep...nicely done...congrats...peace to u
"Don't expect it to be all fancy and frilly like those houses you see in the magazines!" LOL! made me chuckle. Those houses look like 5 star hotels where a clean freak robot lives in them instead of real people. Of course, some people act like robots :) Ty for sharing your personal space. You're the real thing!!
Hi Lamar, You da man! Been watching your channel since the beginning. You are very inspiring. Keep up the great work, I look forward to your future videos.
I love your videos! I'm glad you are enjoying the summer. My husband and I are avid hikers and campers, and both love to see your small cabin plans! You are living a dream life! Enjoy! Vicki

Hey LaMar, it is GREAT to see ya back AND the "new" place! At 3:35 I notice that you have a "Mother Road" sign....well, that was the name of one of the Original Rock Bands I was the drummer in! You can take a peek at a Live Track recorded years ago is ya want to at the following link.... Don't Take My Love Away @ the Cleveland Odeon Again, good to see ya back around, and the place looks great!
Know i`m late...backtracing your stream. Love your cabin!! Puts things in perspective. I'm not completely in your situation, but it inspires far into my heart to see the smile and enthusiasm that you have in life. Getting me in a really good mood. Thank you very much. Greeatings from Norway.
Well welcome home and nice job so far on the redo of the solar cabin. One thing on the bathroom door,if you put one in, natural wood with a cresent moon near the top. Just to give it that rustic look. Well it would give visitors something to talk about.
your liven large now!! I just built a 12x16 dutch style storage building. my old lady told everybody I would try to live in it!! I told her if I had stayed with plan A i'd be living in a 20x20 just like what I built on 100 acres of woods!! the up stairs is my smoking lounge. I have a window up there and a wood stove down stairs!! I have just barely under 10kw of solar and wind turbines. I have a new freedom II turbine and a 400 watt skymax. I run everything 120 on the house and the entire building off my battery bank(it's freaking huge and 12 volts to boot!!). keep up the good work and remember the boat has a hole in it!!!
So sorry to hear of the loss of your dear mother, may she rest in peace. I can hear the love you have for her in your voice. She raised a very special son and your extremely resourceful. She gave of herself to you through her talent, my son was the same way. Sorry to say my son passed in 2008 from a car crash, I miss him terribly. He was resourceful like you, always coming up with great ideas. Your cabin looks awesome! Are you going to have an on demand water heater, it's propane too? It's not bad to do things on the cheap. I up cycle all the time. My kids call me the fixer, whatever problem they have I find a way to fix it.
Saludos! From Puerto Rico island.I do paintin and i can say your mom painting is so beautifull ,the colors ,the content i love it. Great cabin and ideas i'm going to keep watching your channel.
Was wondering when you plan on building the addition? Because of restrictions with square footage are you going to skirt around the building codes like you did on your porch? I noticed it's not attached to your house. So I'm guessing you would build a separate structure and somehow have a common entrance? If you do I think that's really cool and could you do a video and talk about that? Or would the black helicopters come back? Haha good luck love your place.
solarcabin It sucks that you cant just build whatever you want on your own property,I was fortunate to find land with no building codes.the only permits I need are electric and septic.
Your channel rocks. I remember my grandparents planning their retirement to Florida back in the 70's. My grandpa drew plans, had a house built in a retirement subdivision, etc. I have purchased your books and plans and am planning my retirement 'Lemar style' in 2020.
LaMar, I love you buddy. I've been following your videos for a few years now, and it's just been a pleasure seeing how much you have progressed through time. I don't know your situation, but I hope you are living well. It seems as though you are living within your means (even well BELOW your means) and you prove to all of us that you don't need fancy materialism to keep us happy. (well, the window a/c unit is NICE!!!) I have a house, 'cause my wife wouldn't want it any other way, but I definitely want to build a cabin like yours, and I'm hoping to share this experience with my father. Thank you for all of your advice and just your great outlook on life. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of your renovation completed!!! God Bless
I wish I could have convinced my husband to give up the huge house, land, boat, yacht club memberships, fancy cars all the things we didn't need at all that kept him away from home anyway and away from the children and I which ultimately brought our marriage to an end ( I'm not saying it was that or him 100%) but countless times I asked him why we couldn't just give all that up for more time together and time as a family? I told him repeatedly I would live in a trailer, very small home or whatever it would take and give up whatever material possessions we had if it meant we could be a family and his reply was always "oh you wouldn't be happy" his way of saying he wouldn't be happy I guess 😔
@@solarcabin I love your yard and all your improvements. One thing though. Please leave the cedar on the walls. I love it. Love the rustic look it has. Or even white wash just some of the boards. People use alot of pallets on their walls and do that. Check it out and see if you like the look. But even if you don't do any paint on them, just the cedar boards look great. Keep us up to date. Be Safe 💚
wow...cozy and bright...the choices of colors make it so welcoming and bigger.lots of special touches and additions to meet the needs...very nice. Maybe you could get a solar powered generator in addition to regular generator.
LaMar, I LOVED your Mom's painting on 2 levels. First & foremost, the emotional meaning & secondly, her style- she was a very talented artist! Would you consider making copies/lithographs & selling them? It would be a nice way to commemorate your Mother & I'm sure she would be happy if she knew you made some $ off of it too. I was captivated by her use of color & the somewhat primitive style, it really drew me into the scene. If you ever did this please sell the first copy to me!
Great Great grandpa had cabin over the lake. Little white house with a porch over the lake. You could drive your boat under the porch and open the trap door and come in up through the porch. I cant count how many times i've sit on the porch and fished. The son had to sell the property because the relatives were fighting because they wanted their part out of it.. So instead of using the property for family gatherings and creating memories with the next generations, but they took the money. That was one of the worst days of my life when it was sold it.. I was about 16 at that time and i just started cry when they told me they had put it up for sale. I just have so many good memories at that place. If i ever come into some money, i swear to god i will buy that place back quadruple the marketvalue.. I'll offer his so much damn money for it, he would be a freakin' idiot to turn it down!
Awesome job! The painting by your Mother really touched my heart.

Looks great. Looking forward to more.
The addition will be built like the porch as a detached stand alone shed. It will be flush with the cabin back wall but not tied to it.
solarcabin It sucks that you cant just build whatever you want on your own property,I was fortunate to find land with no building codes.the only permits I need are electric and septic.
solarcabin Hey Lamar I enjoy your videos and cabin. When you do the addition can you take a few videos of the process? Thanks Mike PA
