I was 13 when the makeup came off. I was so bummed. I was already bummed that Ace and Peter were out of the band. I gave it some time, bought the new album and thought to myself, this isnt KISS. This is a new band called Kiss and I love them. Vinnie Vincent was a little obscure and funny looking, but he added something. Not just his guitar skills.
Didn't he write 'I Love To Lick It Up Out Loud All Night Long' or something? Lol...I love Kiss, but man they make themselves easy targets to ridicule. Paul and Gene sure have pissed on and off alot of lifelong fans. They're most recent boner obviously is notoriously ragging on bands for using backing tracks, while using them themselves...lol. Shit like that turns people off....its been a helluva run...let's hope they actually call it a day
I've loved all the KISS videos you've done, but these last two for Lick It Up have been my favorite. This was the album that first put them on my radar. I remember seeing the world premier video of LIU on a show called Friday Night Videos. I freaking loved it, and bought the 7" single that weekend. After a week or two of mowing lawns I made enough to go buy the full album. So anytime I see or hear anything from this record I get such a trip down memory lane. They've been my favorite band ever since. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks!!!
I was in 8th-grade and had kinda moved-on from my kiss-crazy childhood, but remember “Lick It Up” coming-out and standing-up to a lot of the rock I’d moved-on to. It really was a rebirth for the band.
7th grade's about the time I got turned on to VH...don't get me wrong, was still into KISS just not on a fanatical level anymore lol. I agree with you about Lick It Up being a pivotal moment for them
@@OGxCSH Yep … I was nuts about Van Halen, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden & Ozzy at that time. My brother was still a big Kiss-fan & bought Lick it Up. That’s how I heard it.
@hailmaryrecordings8255 around 81-82 I started getting into heavier stuff like Motörhead,Venom,Slayer etc etc. I was finding my own way at that point. Classic Rock was my older brother n his crowd's thing lol
Get over it. And Vinnie is weird looking. Eric’s legs do look silly a drumstick 🍗 like in the elf boots. Not to mention all of them look and act like complete tools in the Lick it Up video. Except for Paul, he’s a natural. Meant to be the focal point. Everyone else looked so unnatural. Gene gets better over time.
I've always enjoyed your videos. excellent work. All Hell's Breaking Loose was my favorite off of Lick it Up. The tone on that song was great. Vinnie's guitar work was great as well on that song. Exciter was a close second. Thanks for all the work and effort you put in these videos.
Easy, ego & $$ after bruce left they had nothing, so what do you do when you have nothing? Do what you know... So by putting the make up back on, they brought themselves some of that ego light and were able to make a living as a miming cover band, I mean, without having to create new content :)
@kissdiaries Appreciate ALL your content!!! KISS was my very first band I got into when I was 7 yrs old....I'm 56 now. They were the beginning of music and everything that involved it for me
Lick It Up is a great album. Fits Like a Glove, Exciter, Gimme More, All Hells Breakin Loose. I went to the concert at the Sam Houston Colosseum and I loved it. I was 12 years old when Alive came out. In fact, I bought it at Stop and Go for $7.99 and The Originals just a month or so later for $12.99. So I was there from the beginning and like most, was very disappointed in the direction KISS went. So to hear Vinnie ripping out Van Halen-like solos was a good thing. Too bad it didn't last.
Gene said that teenage girls starting showing up at the concerts on the LIU tour. 😂 So, none of those 70's show's had women and teenage girls ? That's kind of how he said it. 😂😂😂
As a die hard Peter Criss fan and Ace, I have to admit I liked Lick it Up!!! But, don't get me wrong or it twisted, no comparison to anything Peter and Ace and the original lineup Kiss did!!!!!!!
Thank you, but I will present a new Project end of October. Unmasked KISS Animations are not as funny, as the masked Era, so their History. Time to move on ;)
At or about the 7:00 mark I love how Paul is so bent that everyone from "Ohio" or wherever figured out KISS' look, style, corporate formula and stage show and used it for themselves lol Paul and Gene are so incredibly not self -aware sometimes and it is hilarious. Gene so much more than Paul. I think Paul is sincere at least. Everything Paul said about bands in the 1980s could have been said about KISS by bands like Alice Cooper and the New York Dolls....from whom KISS 'stole' or was inspired by A LOT.
Stanley talks about Creatures like it was KISS's opus, but Destroyer, Rock 'n Roll Over, Revenge, and Lick It Up were every bit its equal. IMO, Revenge is KISS's best.
SPEAKING of no soul & no roots ........... animalzie & aSYlum & ccrazy Nights fit that despription imo. Sure few good songs on each of those albums, atleast
Lick it up, imo has surpassed Creatures. Theres Danger yeh that kciks ass but then Exciter is just as good if not better. To my ears L.I.U HAS A BETTER "SOUND" & PUNCHES THRU HEAVIER IMO
The 1980's were a terrible decade for gene's style.. He looked absolutely like a burly rabbi in drag. I can't help but think he drove away tons of fans. Paul was always kinda effeminate in a cool way, he got away with whatever cause he's the front man and songwriter.. Gene tho.. tf?? lol.

I was in 3rd grade, I turned the cable box off in horror
Great video!
I remember MTV Europe playing "A World Without Heroes" and "I love it loud" quite often.

Me too 😂
Just wish he didn't look so Jewish.

Génial, super boulot 👍💪🙀💥🔝
Radio 1990 played I love it loud
I'm so glad that Gene and Paul and ONLY Gene and Paul think they look better without make-up.
First song I heard on radio was exciter.. I was thinking if the rest of the album is as good as this song it's gonna be killer
It was it's a top 5 kiss album
... and you were right
Exciter was the best song on the album
This is so amazing! As a die hard KISS fan… this is beyond incredible! Thank you so much for doing this! Hope there’s more soon!!! Come on!! Haha
Not enough Ace
WELCOME BACK!
5:39 There was no Poison in 1983
Yes you are right, but as Gene is talking about them, I had to followed the Leader ;)
Actually they started in 1983, to be precise
I Guess the REAL Question is Why did they Decide to Put the Makeup back on ?!? 🤣
Easy, ego & $$ after bruce left they had nothing, so what do you do when you have nothing? Do what you know... So by putting the make up back on, they brought themselves some of that ego light and were able to make a living as a miming cover band, I mean, without having to create new content :)

Big ups for the KISS KONTENT....very interesting
Glad to hear ;)

Same over here. Started listening to KISS when I was 6 years old and had a major influence to my Life. @@OGxCSH
@@kissdiaries birds of a feather bro🤘🤘🤘
I`m sure Gene was checking ID`s of the groupies back in the 80`s to make sure that they weren`t under age.🤣
Of course 😂
Another killer installment 🤘🏻

Ok Paul 🙄
I love these videos.. Always thought All Hell's Breaking Loose video set looked identical to Motley Crue's Too Young to Fall in Love set..
Yes, I had the same thought !
@kissdiaries same time too. Lol
Both videos were directed by Martin Kahan
@heavymetal26 WOW that's interesting!
All Hells was first. Both bands shared the same video director
Gene said that teenage girls starting showing up at the concerts on the LIU tour. 😂 So, none of those 70's show's had women and teenage girls ? That's kind of how he said it. 😂😂😂
The way Stanley's mouth is moving is very disturbing
One more Episode and his Mouth won't move anymore at all ;)
Lick It Up is one of their best records.
As a die hard Peter Criss fan and Ace, I have to admit I liked Lick it Up!!! But, don't get me wrong or it twisted, no comparison to anything Peter and Ace and the original lineup Kiss did!!!!!!!
ACE & PETER ROCK! Paul is more recognizable 😂 Paul & Gene don’t have egos😂
Paul, people didn't want KISS to lose the make up - they just wanted you to start making good music again...!
Who else remembers seeing this when it originally came out and being shocked how ugly Stanley and Gene were?
Yyyeeeaaahhh!!!
Kiss should hire you!!!! It’ll happen just keep up the content!
Thank you, but I will present a new Project end of October.

The 'All Hells Breaking Loose' video is like a 3 Stooges film. Great song, stupid video.
