I think Schlage should be paying you. This is my 4th install, first 3 were easy, but this one was left locking and I needed right. I spoke to someone at Allegion, they were clueless and told me to return the unit (which I did). I bought another one, same issue, so hunted the internet and found your video. While your intro is a bit long winded the solution you provided was excellent. Thank You.
spent lots of time reviewing the manual and combing thru the Schlage website. There is no mention in the manual on how to switch from left to right hand rotation. Your video is great, thank you for posting.
Thank you!!! You should have your Venmo here for that info lol. Can’t tell you how hard it was to find that on a Sunday. Idk why the heck it’s not in the manual. Thanks again!
Life saver. I didn't realize they meant pressing the schlage button on the outside of the unit. Thanks for ending an hour of frustration and helping to get my lock working
Ok so I got it... And in case anyone else is confused too... This is only really relevant if you are reinstalling on a new door. The factory setting isn't right or left handed... it figures that out during the initial set up when you type the built-in user code. There's no way to change it afterwards without factory reset so you have to start fresh if you need to switch it. Btw I have an Encode model, and the reset is just a button under the cover that you hold down for like 10sec
I've tried this, but every time it finishes the Schlage button unlocks the door. it used to be fine, but i recently changed the batteries and it's no longer working
Are you trying to suggest that one PIN code = left handed and the other PIN code = right handed? If so, that bit of information would have been extremely necessary and the most important part of your video. You neglected to explain this.
@@kian.smarthome yes. The lock needs to be properly set to either left handed locking/unlocking or right handed. For example, I recently moved and my lock had the deadbolt locking to the right. However, my new residence needed to be installed so that the lock now locks and unlocks to the left (when viewed from outside the front door). This means that operability was once right handed, but now needs to be left handed. What you neglected to mention is that there are TWO reset codes AND depending on which code you select, this will default the lock so that it’s new operability is the option which you will need or prefer - one code sets to right-handed while the other sets to left-handed operability. This bit of information is crucial/vital and should have been one of the most important points. Yet, you omitted this bit of knowledge. I cannot explain more clearly.
My husband messed with our lock for over an hour. I told him that I was sure I could find a youtube video that would easily explain the problem and how to fix it.......nope, he was going to figure it out. Finally he agreed to watch this video by Kian.........BOOM, lock fixed in under 3 minutes. LMAO!!! Thanks kian.smarthome.

You are a saviour...Even schlage does not have a descent documentation on this. Worked for me although it was reverse when i opened the box
Thanks for the instructions! Can't believe these companies can't put that kind of information in their installation literature.
I was ready to return the lock until I reviewed your video. Thank you so much for posting this!!!

But you don’t explain how to do it. You just show it when it’s done. Mine is a right hand and the door lock comes for a left hand.
