  • The bulletproof Cybertruck is perhaps Tesla's biggest gamble to date. At $100,000 it's not clear if Elon Musk will be able to sell enough to break even, or even if he'll be able to sell them at all outside the United States. Love it or hate it, the electric truck is turning heads and grabbing headlines.

      For that kinda money, you are better off buying something less flashy with proper armor. You can get a Merc S600 Guard for that kinda money, used. And thats proper VPAM 7 or 8. And if it needs to be an SUV, you go one price class up and buy an Invicto by Brabus.

    Holy cow! 6:25 are we still in 2010 with these talking points.
    #1 The Barques Brownlee video was a pre-production model (The front left and right corners of the truck are sharp I'll give you that.)
    #2 the cost of Cybertruck is so high because there is so much demand. Look at the model S Plaid for example when it came out it was $140,000 now it's $70,000 because the amount of people willing to spend that much has gone down.
    #3 The weight of the vehicle in the American market I feel is irrelevant when other vehicle like the F-250, Rivian, HUMMER EV, GMC Denali weigh just as much if not more than the Cybertruck.
    #4 Most people don't drive more than 300 miles at a time so not having 500 miles of range shouldn't be a big deal for 99.9% of people. If you want to tow, just buy something else.
    This video is good don't get me wrong. They talk about the very proprietary technology that goes into Cybertruck like air bending, but all of these things are being done in house were their is no middle man to add to the cost. And Cyber Truck isn't the only vehicle that is being produced at GIGA Texas. There's the Model Y and Tesla's upcoming $25,000 vehicle is rumored to be made here as well.

Sure you can take it off road but the range limitations mean you can't exactly take it too far into the Mojave, or Moab, or Mexico (despite their heavily-edited promo). So while I'd be fun to drive for a week or so, owning one comes down to trading all these practical concerns for showing off.

    This vehicle meets none of its initially outlined performance goals, from bullet proofing to range to efficiency to weight. Lots of market research shows we're a dumb species. People would have bought this for its looks if it had performed like a Kia Niro EV. It would still be less practical than the Kia, but it would also have more mass market appeal.

    It's a truck with a range of 90-100 miles when close to max towing capacity, and most charging stations are situated so a trailer can't be attached during charging. That means parking and disconnecting the trailer, charging, then hooking back up. This is just a dumb toy for the rich, like so many trucks being used as commuter vehicles. Elon made it for himself.

    • @mandelm2001
      @mandelm2001 2 месяца назад +1

      The towing range is similar to the other electric trucks currently available like the Ford F-150 lightning. Many Tesla charging stations DO have towing stalls. Demand is off the charts. Almost all pickups are not used for towing or off road, or even carrying loads. What exactly is your point?

    • @troyclayton
      @troyclayton 2 месяца назад

      @@mandelm2001 My point is it's a POS truck. Trucks are work vehicles, not oversized race cars for commuters or driving around town. Watch some videos about people setting this thing up for off road use, the suspension parts break over and over. Tesla doesn't even know how to build a truck, having thick stainless steel was more important than a beefy suspension that could support it. And, here in Maine- there are 435 public Tesla chargers. Better hope they're all pull through. edit: And they perform much worse in our long winters. #2 This is just pretending an oversized race car is a vehicle that could actually replace a real truck- for what a truck is meant to do. It will happen, and the priority will be on work performance.

    Buying a $100,000 truck without driving it first is alittle crazy. I went to the Tesla dealer and they had a Cyber truck there in the show room. You could not touch it, doors and windows were closed. Makes me wonder who would buy a truck without driving it first? Not sure I even want one. But without even sitting in it and for sure I would have to drive it before buying it, that is kind of a no brainer.

    What a stupid hit piece! Mostly ok history but the later stuff is so biased and is purposely misleading. Any truck in snow without snow tires or chains will not do well, the standard tires are rated for 2.5 seconds 0-60 and are not off road tires. Demand has increased since release with Cybertruck being flipped for $250K. The delay was caused by gee, a pandemic? Next year the base model will be sold at around $62K. With inflation that’s not a lot more than the original $50K price. Build quality has improved quickly and those sharp edges now have rubber covers. Drive by wire and 48 v electrical system are industry changing. These are the facts, Google them.

    Ah, the Tesla truck, the pinnacle of vehicular innovation, where you pay a premium to embark on a futuristic journey akin to buying a high-end smartphone but with the features of a flip phone. It's like acquiring a deluxe, overpriced electric paperweight on wheels. You get the unique opportunity to experience all the drawbacks of electric vehicle ownership, combined with the quality you'd expect from a budget ride at best. Basic features? Oh, those are for the weak. Who needs functionality when you can bask in the glow of trendy inadequacy, right?
    It's not about the love for trucks or a passion for electric vehicles; it's about being seen in what's perceived as the vehicle of the avant-garde. It's about signaling to the world that you're not just any consumer, but a trendsetting shepherd leading the flock of sheeple, regardless of practicality or functionality.
    In essence, buying a Tesla truck is making a declaration. A declaration that you value the image of innovation over actual utility, that you're willing to ignore the glaring deficiencies for the sake of being part of a "movement", one that's less about automotive excellence, and more about flaunting a badge of modernity.
    Ultimately, the Tesla Truck is a monument to our era's peculiar brand of consumerism, where the promise of tomorrow is sold today at the expense of common sense. It’s a badge of honor among those who measure progress not by strides in technology, but by how effectively they can be separated from their money in the pursuit of fashion. Welcome to the future, where looking part of the trend is evidently worth every inexplicably spent penny.
