The most fun I've had in Elden Ring has been with holy damage weapons. Marika's Hammer is my favorite weapon in the game, both Crucible Knight weapons are absolutely goated, and Gargoyle's Black Blade is one of the best weapons to use against Deathbirds
Sure holy damage is terrible against the main bosses but it serves a very specific purpose for killing undead so I think it’s important to always carry around a source of it. The golden epitaph and a weapon with sacred blade and holy buffs and you will one shot every death bird and skeleton in the game which makes the overall experience much easier

Try Stormhawk Deenh with Ordovis' Greatsword or Envoy's Long Horn. He actually increases stance damage dealt by 20% so you can get 100 stance damage in a single AoW
Honestly, the top holy weapons defy their holy damage downside and go absolutely hard. Envoy Longhorn, Marika’s Hammer, Siluria’s Tree, Ordovis’s Sword, and the Sacred Relic Sword are absolutely cracked even compared to some of the best magic and fire scaling weapons for PvE. The massive stance damage and AoE damage they can deal I think is a huge part of what makes them so nutty, alongside their surprisingly high damage.
what kills me about the eclipse shotels is; they don’t suck that bad in pvp. Ran a dual holy damage focused build with them and had decent success. The problem was; their gimmick sucks; and it was just nut fun trying to use the ash of war at all. I really just think making the equivalent to dks curse mechanic something we could use was a mistake. If it’s too good it’s broken, and if it’s too weak it’s useless.
Finally someone gets me. Envoys longhorn is my favorite weapon in the entire game. Casually not even building around it and it still 4 shots placidusax
Thank you for showing the Halo Scythe the love that it deserves. I feel like everybody just assumes that it's trash, but it's AoW is sooooo good. I never realized how much of a problem that Death Rite Birds were on my first play through because I would always nuke them from across the arena with two or three presses of L2 haha.

And by the Way, I totally agree with you on your Number 1 Pick. That Longhorn is totally broken but also a ridiculous amount of Fun.
finished my very first playthrough with envoy's longhorn. It blows my mind that so many people sleeping on this weapon. it shreds bosses like no other and completely trivializes the game more so than using a pre patch mimic tear summon.
You said the golden order greatsword is just a holy moonlight greatsword but I like to think this is by design since it’s theorized it was Radagon’s moonlight greatsword from when he married Rennala
Every great weapon that does holy damage is great in spite of it doing holy damage. They either get insane stance pressure or damage over time both of which would completely break the game on any other damage type
@aesir748 Yeah but it's disappointing that holy damage itself is terrible in itself except for niche bosses like tibia mariners and deathbirds. But that's very situational, I don't think they should have nerfed these really good weapons by making them split holy damage, make holy damage actually good and make terrible holy damage weapons actually viable against late game bosses. Fite damage is probably the best damage type in the game and also scales with faith, so why use weapons that are directly outclassed in some cases when you could just switch to something better. I would choose blasphemous blade over sacred relic sword any day. I would chose godslayer's greatsword over maliketh's black blade any day. And the only reason maliketh's sword is good is because it's a good strength weapon that has a percentage based aow and just so happens to do holy damage. This is even worse in spells, holy damage incantations are probably the worst in the game. Again, if you're going to level faith for incantations, there is absolutely no reason you should ever use the rings of light, because against bosses like radagon, you will be doing 20% of the mid damage you would have already been doing.
Holy damage is bad. However with the golden epitaph plus blade of calling I can two shot the Death Rite Bird in the Consecrated Snowfields. Holy damage is also effective vs the hordes of undead that roam Farum Azula, various cemeteries and in some of the catacombs. However whoever was responsible for assigning resistance to bosses and mini bosses went a little overboard. It's stupid, they make all these cool looking holy weapons and incantation and yet they make them do less damage to pretty much every boss in the game. Lore wise holy damage should be one of the strongest types of damage in the game.
Awesome video dude, really nice work. There are certainly a handful of holy weapons that are absolutely bangers, but yeah, mostly it's lame. From Soft seriously needs to make a giant patch some day, where they totally rework a bunch of stuff, mainly all the trash holy weapons. First of all the stupid AF D-scalings for weapon's whose skill scales with faith... Who came up with that?? And like that Miquella Straight sword with triple D scalings, Omg... Then change all the repetitious weapons skills, like Sacred Blade being on like q0 weapons, change the Eclipse Shotel, etc. If they managed to alter the Great Club, they can do it to all of these other ones.
Blade of calling's weapon skill has higher base damage than the black knife's, so that combined with the knockback and cheaper fp cost might make it better against smaller enemies. Also Golden Halberd does't have the generic halberd moveset, it shares the overhead slam r2 with night rider glaive
miquellan knight sword is really good for a guard counter shield build, its a pretty long straight sword which helps to hit the guard counter for more stance damage (while having the quicker animation of a straight sword. Envoy's Greathorn is also a complete and total nightmare to get unlike the Longhorn which can be easily farmed in leyndell at the first grace. Also good luck getting it to drop lmao.
You did my boy the erdtree avatar staff dirty. I give that the only reason to use the weapon art is as a get off me move, and even then there are better choices. But as a colossal hammer, it has very good strength scaling and extreme stance damage, and is one of the longest in its class, making it a counter attack machine. Its split strike holy damage makes sure that every undead enemy will be a joke, and when focusing on strength its damage is serviceable for the endgame bosses, which is more than can be said for most holy weapons.
I encourage you to use more weapons as you will realise that there’s plenty of weapons that can do the same thing but better. Great Club is a better strike/holy colossal as it does more stance damage, have better moveset, can get higher AR because it can get buffed and you get a more useful weapon skill. Even then literally any other colossal weapon infused with golden slam can perform just as good or even better than the erdtree avatar. Obviously it can still be a viable option and perform really well but there’s much better stuff out there
If you could get 100% of the bubbles on a target with the envoy longhorn while having drank the stone barb cracked tear that is 92*1.3=119.6 stance damage 120 is the average boss poise health.
