Wow! That underwater footage is awesome. Just really interesting and educational to see what's actually happening down there. Thanks for another great video.
Happy to hear you enjoyed it and thanks for leaving a comment to let me know, always like to hear when people like the content. I love the underwater footage too, so cool to see the lingcod 100' down. Thanks for watching
Learning what my bait sees. Live sanddab is so much fun and the fish are not picky here. Many times we don't even hit the bottom and hook up. Thanks for the video.
Very cool enjoyed the video, seeing what's "really" going on down there! LOL Use to love fishing for links & rock fish at Maverick's reef , (El Granada, Ca.) on my kayak. (when calm of course, ha)
Great video. Really interesting to se what is going on at the bottom. Nice work. I wonder if using a carolina style trap rig would have been a better presentation.
I'm a believer that the California Dawn is the best charter boat in the bay area. On more than a couple of occasions when fishing for Lingcod and Rockfish. They would spend 30 minutes catching live bait such as Sand Dabs or Mackeral, instead of picking up live bait at the bait barge. In post cases the live bait we caught was larger. Larger bait = Bigger fish.
Great video allot of great under water footage. Nice to see what under the ocean life is all about in our area this is one of my favorite videos that you made so Far good job i like what you doing 🔥🎣💯👍 Catch You Next Time
Chris, it's a year later and I'm watching this again. I didn't get to go out this season but will be going out on the party boat for the 2023 year. The party boat has a big live well and the dabs are a lot more lively. I learn so much from watching the underwater footage you shoot and edit. The Lings seem to have their own way of hitting and I try to adjust for it.
That was some dope footage man! Like to see what the fish react to and that Sand Dab was definitely the bait. Seeing all those rock fish swarm that bait was awesome. Keep up the dope content! I just subscribed. Was put on by the vid w/ Jun (Morethanfishing). 🤘🙌🙌🙌🙌
Nice under water footage. I usually don’t care for that footage but yeah, this time you nailed it. Fish On Chris hope to see you at the dock again. Cool Cat
So the wife and I watched a few of your videos and we found them very informative, we have actually learned a lot, added you to my subscription, hopefully when we take our boat out to San Francisco bay one day will run into you and say hello, stay safe and great fishing days :)
Thanks for the nice note Charlie. Happy to hear you and the wife and enjoy watching my videos together. I try to make them informative because I understand as a fisherman we want to keep learning and improving on our craft. So many fisherman want to hide what they do and it takes away from the videos a little. Thanks for watching
been thinking about it. I will try and do it this year. Waiting for the perfect conditions and right timing. Thanks for watching. I put my email in the video descriptions. Hit me up and maybe we can tandem out there. I for sure want to have a boat buddy when I go. Thanks for watching
I love the underwater footage, thanks for that. On their own the Dabs are fantastic eating if you find a good spot to catch them. As for Ling bait, it's like cotton candy to them!! When Chris's landing quit going out for live bait, squid or dabs we quit using Chris's landing. That's how we feel about it! Like Matty I too use a longer leader. About 4 to 5 feet.
yeah I am curious to try the sand dabs. We had none left when we were done fishing. I couldnt use a 4-5' leader because the camera wouldnt be over the bait then. Thats what kevin was using. Thanks for watching
I wonder if you mounted a thin piece of flat plastic about 4x4 inches to the underwater camera not blocking the lens if it would prevent the camera from spinning underwater? I think it would stabilize the video underwater.
Everyone knows the sand dabs themselves are delicious , you don't have to be a ling cod to know that Butter in a cast iron skillet was made for sand dabs Great video as always
but then we would not of seen the fish bite the sand daps. I had to use a rig like I was using to get the camera over the bait. In the video I mentioned kevin was using a regular pitbull tackle halibut rig like you are describing. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 you make very informative vids! The fact that you mention simple techniques like how to jig and hooks sizes on rigs is immensely helpful for beginners so thank you for creating great content!
Badass video! News subscriber here. Question: What size rod is your buddy using??? Just got a boat for the Bay here in CA and buying new rod and reels. What size rod are you using? Trying to get some tips thank you in advance.
I was putting the hook in the tail and body. I was having a little trouble hooking them because with the weight of the camera its hard to feel the bites so I wasnt getting a good hook set. I do agree the missed strikes could of been less if I was doing something different. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Chris P, dude you put out BOMB video's and I'm hoping you grow like crazy bro because you grind and put in the work! Hope some of the other local NORCAL YTers will share and shout you out bro! Make sure you're sharing on IG too... Let's grow this shizz! 🤘😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Great footage! I wonder how they would bite on about a four foot long leader. You would have to drop s l o w l y to prevent it from twisting up on your main line. 🤙🏼
kevin was using a longer leader. I had to use what I had on to get a good camera shot of the sand dabs. Happy you liked the footage. Thanks for watching
Great footage, I think that you should notice that you are jigging your bait too much. Just let it hit the bottom lift slightly and then jiggle the rod a little, repeat. You will catch more fish.
You need to rig a 3-4’ leader under the weight so the sand dab can swim around. The way your doing it your basically missing the whole point of live bait fishing. Hit the bottom crank up 5 cranks and let the sand dab swim around and struggle.
lol you missed the whole point of my video, I wanted to see the lingcod bite the sanddab with underwater camera. If I use a typical live bait rig the bait would be off camera. Thanks for watching
wish I could. Not sure how to make it not spin. Maybe gofish cam 2.0 will have that feature lol. Thanks for watching and I am happy to hear you enjoyed the footage.
Sand dabs are the best bait ever for lingcod. We've been using them fpr over 50 years. I can tell you stories of catches you'd never believe. What is considered a big fish today would have been considered an embarrassment 20 - 30 years ago. Your bait presentation is so bad that I'm surprised you guys caught anything. Unfortunately, due to dwindling numbers of breeding stock, and average catch size, I figured that I've caught enough for more than one lifetime, and I quit. No more lingcod, or any bottom fish off the Nor Cal coast. I wish Fish and game would do the right thing and shut the fishery down for 10 years. It'll never happen though...to much money involved these days.
Nice underwater video of how lings react to sand dabs. Great 🤙🤙🎣
thanks for checking out the video. Happy you enjoyed it!
Great film...... Love seeing the beast having a feast..... Thank You
Under water footage is epic, helps you understand how the fish react! Love it man! Thanks for posting!!

What great underwater footage Chris. Always wonder what’s going on down there. Awesome video, keep em coming!

Thanks man, yeah busy schedule and I wanted to put a little time in to get the video as best I could. Thanks for watching
13:02 is that a calico bass off to the left side of the frame?
i love those pitbull tackle pretied leaders! i use em for steel head and live bait rigs! sweet underwater footage!!
nice, yeah they are good. Happy you enjoyed the underwater footage. Thanks for watching
Nice footage.
I wish we could use those for bait in Oregon.
Our law says you can't use game fish for bait. 😪
You need to go to Faralone island
Just still you're doing good good job guys
yeah I need to get to the islands! Soon I follow you out. Thanks for watching!
When are you going to make a run to the Farallon Islands? I’ve got the same boat as you. We can go tandem.

Great video! New sub. How’d u guys use Navionics to find Rocky bottom?
I would've wanted to see you rig that octopus at 12:26 to see how it compared to the sand dab! I feel like that's the real lingcod candy. Next time!
good thinking. I have caught my biggest lingcod 34" using a spit out octopus. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
I’ll have to try that at Bodega I’ve caught those sand dabs on accident at Bodega before but good job those are all nice lingcod
yeah you should try it at bodega. thanks for watching

I appreciate that. Thank you for subscribing and I am happy to hear you like the content!
U wear corpus Christi hooks hat that means u from corpus christi? Try use rock fish as bait for huge ling cod. Mark my words?
Live sand dabs or live blues up to 2 lbs or so with a piece of rebar for banging off the bottom priceless 👌.
What camera did you use
Why did a rockfish randomly grab the swivel
What's that Blue rod?.. I think DieHard fishes the same rod too
HOW IS THERE ONLY 490 LIKES.............THUMBS-UP!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone knows the sand dabs themselves are delicious , you don't have to be a ling cod to know that
Butter in a cast iron skillet was made for sand dabs

Hey Chris Who manufacturers the remote kicker steering you have on your boat? Nice vids!
its from tailfin. hit up Jim, his company is real custom boat works. He sells and installs them. Thanks for watching
That was crazy seeing it.
yeah I agree. Some of my favorite footage I have captured, happy you enjoyed it too. Thanks for watching
Use a longer 3-5' leader on a three way rig for more natural presentation
but then we would not of seen the fish bite the sand daps. I had to use a rig like I was using to get the camera over the bait. In the video I mentioned kevin was using a regular pitbull tackle halibut rig like you are describing. Thanks for watching
We always use bout a 3ft leader
I needed to use a short leader with the underwater camera or we wouldnt of seen the sand dab. Kevin was using a 4' leader. thanks for watching
Recently went out of Monterey out of Chris’s and caught nice vermilions but no lings. Love your videos
Awesome vid! Which size sabiki for the sand dabs?
Thats a good question. I was using a size 10. Thanks for watching

Whats the app you use for underwater structure? Navy Onyx?
How many feet is that boat? And has does that boat compare to the old Lund boat you had as far as comfortability? Can you fit 4-5 ?
Where do I get a hat like that?

seems to me you need a longer leader from the main line...
wassssssssssssssup. keep up the content!
hey bro! Thanks for watching like always
I love fishing for dabs
makes sense since your name is sand dabs lol. Yeah they were fun to catch, need to try eating them next time. Thanks for watching
So if you are getting a short strike, why not put the hook in the tail? Makes sense to me.
I was putting the hook in the tail and body. I was having a little trouble hooking them because with the weight of the camera its hard to feel the bites so I wasnt getting a good hook set. The nasty little buggers inside the sanddab gils are called Isopods.
Great footage! I wonder how they would bite on about a four foot long leader. You would have to drop s l o w l y to prevent it from twisting up on your main line. 🤙🏼

Need to let the lingcod eat the bait!
They can’t see white, that’s why the ling hit when it flipped over
What the underwater footage shows me is some lingcod is smart and some is dumb 😂
lol isnt that true. For sure some are smarter then others just like on land lol. Thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 to be PC i classify those on land as those with or without a boat. lol
Can I come salmon fish with you?
