Westport Deep Water Lingcod and Halibut Fishing

Buck King Outdoors hit Westport on the F/V Overkill with Ben Overmars and the Fish Hunt Northwest crew! It was a deep water lingcod and halibut trip to close out the 2019 season. Full limits for the boat on the big pond!

i grew up and graduated from westport.. back in the 80s i either deckhanded or washed every charter.... back then was over 200 boats sadly today i think its down to 16

520 feet with a slow retrieve manual reel and what, 1 or 2 lbs of lead? What a chore. The fish stops fighting, all you feel is weight, and must have taken 10 minutes to reel up. You should have made him take those tanacoms down.

its no fun if you use an Electric reel. it does the work for you.

Some can't physically handle the work at that depth..as a retired captain, there were customers who really appreciated that I had some electrics..and I can attest to them loving it.
