Nostalgia
By Rossano Galante
Item: 00-45992
Series: Young Symphonic
Category: Concert Band
Format: Conductor Score & Parts
Level: 3
The term "nostalgia" refers to a sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations. This composition incorporates two melodic themes that build to a climatic resolution utilizing the full ensemble. The music is lyrical, joyous, and ultimately hopeful, taking the listener to a place of harmonic bliss. (5:00)

I get chills at multiple spots in the song when I play along on my F horn!
I don't know why but this piece makes me feel nostalgia, but I don't even know what for
whoever disliked this don't know what ART is!!!
Our band played this in my junior year of high school, and while we played the song my assistant band director stepped off the podium and proposed to his wife. He's now the band director for our school and has been for some years. The time stamp where he proposed is 4:42 :)
That's beautiful :)
I guess you can say this is the name of the piece.
So you played this in grade 11? I’m currently playing this and I’m in grade 11.
Aww! I hope they're both doing well and you too. It's a perfect piece to play for that moment.
I’m playing this in eighth grade I love this piece
Genuinely one of the most beautiful pieces of music my ears have heard.
He writes some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. One of the first beautiful songs I've ever heard was his Whisper From Beyond. I hold that song in one of places in my heart because it is so beautiful.
give a listen to mt.Everest by Rossano Galante
This is good, but if u listen to the full orchestra version if Appalachian Morning (I’m playing that for MPA) your ears will be blessed
You must have not listened to beyond the horizon
Mr. Rossano Galante has a special gift that very few in this world possess. We are so blessed he shares so willingly. what a beautiful piece
Oh! I always thought Rosanno Galante was a girl! And he's one of my favorite composers! I'm so dead now. XD
cringe
Ok boomer
Everyone is saying about how they played the trumpet, clarinet, oboe , flute etc. While I have the most boring part in the song! The bloody Bari sax
Hey hey we were needed and honestly our part was pretty cool
Lane Perez yeah our part was lowkey fire and we carry so hard in the middle
As a Bass Clarinetist, I share your pain for the most part.
As an oboist, i do not understand your pain for the most part.
As a tuba I share your pain my low brass buddies and bassoon too share it
Oh my god...
Galante had a song with a key signature!
Lol
lol
Fr it’s so annoying i have to write it in myself 😂
this song put me to sleep
in the middle of band period rip
☠️
Nothing gets me in the feels much like the ending to this song. I played the timpani part in my high school band and although my band days are behind me, this song takes me back to all those memories and people. I’ll miss you guys... wherever you may be
I play the timpani part for my school band this year!
I played this song for my last concert with my 8th grade friends and it was so sad I almost cried 😭
My band director cried telling a story that this song reminded him about
I don’t get how he can write such beautiful pieces
what the heck this is so good why am i not playing it
Lol :)
I played this in 7th grade on flute but we never ended up playing this at the concert. The name is very fitting and I miss band nowadays. Beautiful piece.
There's a lot of band songs that people like, but this song just sticks to me and it's a beautiful piece I love it so much. 💜
I started playing in a baby band at age 68 having never played in a band before. I graduated to the “big band at age 69. Very proud to have played the concert bells in this beautiful piece as a member of the town band.
I miss playing this at my areas honor band... nostalgia indeed
Literally the one of the only pieces I have heard that has moved me to tears
I remember playing this beautiful piece in primary school. I play alto saxophone 🤩
I’ve never heard this before but It just has nostalgic vibes
I loved playing nostalgia. I was 3rd chair trumpet in this band.
I wanted to play this so badly but my band director chose “To a Distant Place” by Carl Strommen instead. Which was still a good piece ig
I just googled this cuz I just thought of the time my band played this while it was snowing outside 😊💝
Just performed with our District Honor Band under the amazing Dr. Boonshaft! Every time we play this piece I’m always on the verge of tears 😭
I love Dr. Boonshaft he is just so good.
we’re playing this piece for our middle school concert 👍 gallante is the best composer ❤ i absolutely love this song
yes i am in love
I'm playing this with my school bands at Disney and I'm so excited!
record it
we were playing this right before quarantine in 2020. this is the first time i’ve been able to listen to it without crying
Geez
I want to write music one day so I'm taking applied music soon. Who's with me?
Already do lol and I'm 14
I already wrote some and i'm 11
I’ve never heard this piece before but I almost started to cry in joy
This has to be my new favorite song :)
Just a really amazing piece by Galante, It holds multiple melodies and counters which tie the piece together really well, with each melody being passed along or repeated in some way. As an example, me as a F Horn along with trumpets play main melody at around m. 77, then its echoed/repeated by the flutes later at 107 in a soft way, then by the alto saxes with horns right after in a more mellow and heroic way, then finally with almost everyone in on that melody! The harmonic qualities are also just so powerful and really make you feel... nostalgic!
I would highly recommend this piece to any Band Director out there, it deserves attention!
I haven't even played it at a concert yet, thats like next month, but this is gonna be my final concert, and our second band teacher chose this song for us. The current senuor grade was the first group he taught at our school, and I am calling it now this is going to be leaving my trying to hold the tears back by the end. Is it unwarranted? Yes. But is this beautiful and does it have intense emotional resonance to me? Yes.
This is one of my favorite pieces by galante. My most favorite one is Victory.
parts of this was our marching band ballad 😳
I love your music it is awesome
love this song!!!
Andrew Tosco hello
This is beautiful :)
playing this for senior song
Played this song at band camp(:
Dang... this song was posted here exactly 3 years ago today... XD But fr now, great song, I wish I coulda played it.
I I’m play ohoe for this and it’s so dope
My part is easy that I was able to sight read it.
I’m playing this in grade 11 symphonic band on 2nd trombone.
i’m playing this in 9th grade on 2nd trombone!
Favorite part: 1:06
Sounded like Believe from the Polar Express in the very beginning for a few split seconds
Yo I thought the exact same thing lol. We played it for our winter concert
somewhere in this piece has a recurring melody that reminded me of Spice and Wolf OP 1 (Tabi no Tochuu by Natsumi Kiyoura) 😅 That song is nostalgic to me so it's an interesting coincidence
get to be a student conductor on this at my spring concert this year
Very epic sound! As good as John Williams!
Every one is talking about how they played x instrument and im just here for a class
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🌷
I played tuba for this song for my graduation
Remember when you were in band?
Yup. Just 13 hours ago... (sigh) lol

Tyson Yoshikawa lol what u doing here again
@@qawsswaq4716 that u kyle lmao
Yes
This song is fun and easy but It makes my mouth hurt. Its weird, no other song I’ve player makes my mouth hurt.
Andrew Bowman maybe the notes are high
Quake They’re not. I play first clarinet.
Andrew Bowman well the piece is pretty long
Mine did to, i played the Bari sax part.
It’s a relatively long piece, since this is symphonic band. You are mostly expected to last at minimum 5-6 minutes. Standard band pieces are usually 2-4 minutes.
Seems familiar...
Guys what the heck is the tempo
79 or 80 is the tempo in the video
Tempo indicated on the conductors score is 80 BPM to the quarter note. It has like one or two ritardanos somewhere, so be sure to slow down, then when you see ‘Tempo Primo’ go back to 84 BPM.
We are playing this at MSU band clinic. It's not a bad piece, however in my personal opinion I would not recommend this piece being played.
