Keurig B40/K40 not drawing water? This could be your problem...

- Recently, I received a free Keurig brewer from a neighbor who rarely used it (they preferred conventional brewing methods). This Keurig had sat unused for an undisclosed amount of time. Over that time of sitting, the unit's inflow check valve had gotten stuck shut, and was no longer allowing water to flow from the pump into the rest of the unit. After a brutal teardown (which I did not get on video) I was able to determine that this check valve was at fault. I was successfully able to free it up, and this unit now works for the most part, good as new. This issue could also likely show up on other Keurig models as they all tend to follow a similar design. I think the Keurig 2.0 and some newer models do things a little differently though.
Video showing how to disassemble this model of unit...

I just took off the top side cover and found the check valve and k cup valve lines were both clogged. Cleaned those up and replaced the two small tie wraps. Ran 50/50 distilled white vinegar and water with out the tank filter. It finally worked after several turning on and off with cycle brews. Also cleaned the bottom tank screen. Ran about 15 pure water brews to remove any distilled white vinegar in the lines and pump. Patience is something have to work on. Almost gave up but it worked.
Thanks
Just seen the first two seconds I was like... NOPE THIS SHIT GOING TO THE GARBAGE 😐
I short cut your great idea and it works. I didn't want to fight to do the work. I used compressed air with fine airstream tip from my compressor at 120psi. Blow in black base water intake. It blows out the top clear drain above intake dumping back into water supply jug. Vinegar rinse after it started working for heck of it.
Don't know if it's the same problem but my Keurig brewer started working again after I blew air thru the air intake (exhaust?) located on top of the machine inside the water tank. Must have been clogged with calcium.
Why not blow compressed air down the hole at the bottom of the water tank? Wouldn't that dislodge the stuck check valve?
It would had also likely caused damage to other components of this unit as it was not designed to handle high pressure.
Soon, I might create a dummy email so I can get these parts to you
I do the same stuff you do, just want to share good parts to a brother tech guy
I bypass the check valve and no did not make a difference. I took the keurig apart about a week ago and check all the line. The only thing i did not take apart was the pump and motor.
Say Nick Nalley, I just ordered a new motherboard, socket am4, x570 Chipset. Pretty soon i can donate my asrock ab350 pro4 motherboard w/ ryzen 5 quadcore ,16gb non ecc ram.
I might be able to throw in a m.2 hd
I get that it is the check valve. You said "Check Valve" 1000 times, but what you didn't ever say after 10 minutes was HOW DO YOU FIX THE CHECK VALVE. I don't need 10 minutes of you talking about what it is, and showing it brewing, without you ever saying HOW to fix it.
I didn't cover much on the check valve as they are simple enough for almost anyone to figure out. It's a one way valve with a spring and rubber seat. The water or air flowing in the flow direction presses against the rubber seat and overcomes the spring, opening the valve. The seat blocks flow in the opposite direction. I just blew into the valve and that freed it up.
Using filtered water is better...less vinegar treatment.
Keurig doesn't want you to repair them. They want you to buy a new one. Planned obsolescence and cheap quality.
