with some kerosene and some fuel treatment, you should be able to go ahead and run the old diesel, especially since 60 gallons of it can be hard to get rid of and it should still have the sulfur benefits.
too much aesthetic crap. use waxes only to prevent corrosion and put that old truck to work!
Love watching you get the ol girl goin. But I cringed when you said it was gonna get stretched. Loving how its looking so far and i agree, Iceman needs a channel, so satisfying to watch the polishing.

Dude- guys like Iceman are a dying bread. I work with guys like him that are cutters and buffers, they kick ass! Keep these videos coming Bruce! I love this project!
You hope guys like him get young guys trained up before he is done working.
I hate dying bread. It tastes awful!

I totally want to keep seeing progress on this bad boy.
And I agree with the others here, keep it stock; don’t stretch it, fix what needs fixing.
I can understand the Air ride, but this truck was so cheap that it lacks cab air ride, and the rough ride is more likely due to not having cab air bags than the rear leaf springs not being air ride. My truck had air ride for the rear axles, but that was solely to keep the stuff in a dry box happy going down the road, it was the cab air, and the seat air that kept the truck from being a back breaker all the time.
Bruce stretch it. Most people will never understand the cool factor.
Iceman have his own channel? That dude's a charmer, I'd watch him polish different stuff every week.
Man dont chop that frame that's a co
Dont chop that frame I'm with you that's a rare Coe bad enough he destroyed that old gmc
Would you watch if he polished these nutz?
Why don't you Polish him off. Every Buffer I know that watched the Video said he was all over the place.
iceman needs a youtube channel cause watching him polish was satisfying af
He would have 154 sub's at this point for sure.
Not really he was all over the place I say do one row at a time it's like asking an adhd person to do the work
Devern Pinnock would still make a good RUclips channel.
Check out Dc supershine, tonymetalart, west coast polishing, evans polishing. I love polishing, and these dudes are fun to watch.
So true
Dont stretch the truck! Thats the whole beauty of the CO is the SWB! We have been trying to convinve my boss to get us COs but I dont think he is gonna go for one.
I don't think they even make any new cab overs do they

Jesus mate why on EARTH are you stretching that truck? And don't you have laws in the USA about doing that? You have unearthed an absolute gem in original condition and with a history to tell and now you are going to butcher it and make it into precisely what? Get the chassis stripped and painted and rebuild as is. It doesn't need new anything and adding 'Volvo' stuff just makes it worth nothing. I drove Volvo for hundreds of thousands of miles across Europe and they are great trucks but you have an International Cabover mate .. value it!
I hope he doesn’t chop the back either I would love the history to stay with the truck..
The laws are more relaxed on length here you see a fair amount of stretched trucks. I agree though no point of doing it. It looks great the way it is. You rarely see cabovers out here
We don't have any strict laws on stretching here. I've seen some very very long trucks before. But I agree that stretching this truck would be really stupid.
It's his truck not yours

*talks about keeping everything original for 3 minutes* walks to the back. Im gonna stretch it and put a new rear end on it.
And all of that after removing the air dam from the roof must be a RUclips thing 😂🤣😂
He failed in physics as a straight cut causes less stability
and torsion rigidty then... i keep that for me. That is why
commercial vehicles have to pass a deep test each year.
😭😭😭😭😭Right
I wouldn't stretch it. Def keep it original as possible. My dad's first Walmart tractor was this same type of truck inside and out. Paint was different was the only difference of course.
He's a hollow head. For a resto-mod he's better advised
to use a full Volvo chassis then botching around with
scrap. Volvo? Turning circle, air suspension, disc brakes etc.
Mind if he's pulling a 20 ton-loaded trailer and it breaks
at the welding seams on the highway. Ends in court for

Every spring, after last snow, I polish my rims, aluminium, chrome, have the same equipment as Iceman. The other guys want me to do their trucks, but don't think I want to do it for a living. My hat's off to you Iceman.
Showing us everything that can be done in your own back yard (when you hire Iceman to do it ) ... ha, ha, ha ... bottom line: it takes A LOT of time, money, and labor to bring one of these old gals back to life ... fun to watch ... glad I'm not there !! ( PS .. no flattie needed ... ALL SEMI ... !!)
Also he went to the family workshop to make hydraulic hoses for the cab tilt.
Yeah. Reversing 20 years of exposure is not easy. Glad you're doing it. that ol' rig might just look like a cherry when you're done.
There's a lot of international cabover here in Philippines running and still in good condition 😁
We want the ice man to have his own youtube channel, he's so cool.
Please don't stretch the wheelbase. I like how you're trying to keep it as stock as possible.
Stretching will make it look better, ride better and also a gear idea to upgrade/ update the rear frame section. Bruce if you read this go about 250ish.
@@jimbo7450
No it will not. Stretching only looks good on a 379 or w900, but on a cabover? Absolutely not! It wouldn't even improve the ride because you're still sitting over the front axle.
@@plumbingstuffinoregon2471 matter of opinion.
A buddy of mine at work we call Cone is a polishing machine. That guy can polish anything and it’s truly a lost art. IceMan is truly one of a kind. Always awesome to know a guy like that.
"Gonna keep it original don't want to mess with its integrity"... also: going to cut the frame and completely replace the back end and stretch it... I get the impression you're not savvy on the meaning of "original" or "integrity".
I would not touch that frame. Not only for the sake of keeping it original, but the over all strength of it. Some states I’ve heard are funny about registering a truck with a stretched frame. Personally I’d keep it a working truck.
Exactly, literally I don't understand why he needs to stretch it... is this some kind of a stupid U.S rule?
@Cha Cha Rah Yeah, because chopping off the frame isn't what compromises the structural integrity. Only the paint and stainless does that. You're a dum dum.
Probably the paint only
my exact thought...
Wow, this truck is coming along really well.
Such a gorgeous truck! I love these old cabovers. I always have since I was a kid.
The guy who polished the aluminum is a master of his trade. Incredible job.

I just love the restoration of old trucks parked for years and being brought back to life. I drove semi trucks for awhile and I loved it. A medical condition took me off the road. I miss it but love the videos, detail and the hard work you guys put into a semi truck project. Kind of brings a big ole lump in my throat when I heard that engine crank for the first time. I wasn't expecting this one to crank at all! Thank you for bringing us this series on this truck.
Almost makes me miss the truck i started out driving, it was a 90 International cabover. It had been a walmart truck in a previous life and was well used. I had her for 3 years before she blew the trans, didnt fix because the motor was almost gone as well. Almost miss it for a second then i remember what it was like living in that thing for 3 years.
You're really putting effort into it. I respect that.
This is a great series ... really enjoy it
Keep coming with cab over videos. Love that truck!
Man i love this restoration! And the polishing and the cleaning does make the old truck look updated enough for 2019!

I had a international 9800 cabover project truck, was a great time to work on it. I ripped the interior out and I made all new panels. I had to replace the vent windows to, was rusted out, it is expensive ! Keep up the good work !
The headlight pieces are called headlight bezels. Alot of random odds and ends on vehicles are called bezels.
May help you with replacing parts if you ever need it.
Lmao he’s coming out of that jump suit quick 😅😂
If only WhistlinDiesel's 1970's International Transtar II received the same care and love as your International.
Hey man, I totally respect you for keeping it true and retro! Give that baby her Aluminum wheels and that new road worthy rear axles and get that baby back to hauling!
Shoutout to Iceman! He is doing a beautiful job!
PS From the truckers I've talked to, they said a shorter wheel base will make backing up with a Dry van or any sort of trailer 10x easier. Keep that in mind if you are planning on pulling trailers with that.
Thank you for taking care of this truck .
Keep doing projects like this, I love it!
I subscribed to watch the progress on the International.
Can't wait to see more videos on the cabover.

Cab over and flatty content would be so tight especially with ice mang

Loving the cab over videos
Thumbs up so far for saving the old international not like some u-tubers we know that only knows how to cut them to pieces. The Chrome guy is a beast he knows how to do it a real pro. You go Ice-Man -- Take the tank off and run it down to the local metal fab shop at the trade school get the shop teacher to use it as a teaching tool cut off the damaged end and TIG in a new aluminum end panel.
Why make the frame longer? Easier to back up with a shorter frame.
Remember fondly taking my truck bobtail, and it fitting in a standard parking space for shopping. When I switched to a conventional, there was no way that'd happen.
It'll look better and ride better with longer wheelbase.
That's right. Stretch that sum bum.
Not practical to stretch it
@@truckerdaddy-akajohninqueb4793 it's very practical if that's what a guy likes or wants.
Cutting and stretching you said It was gonna be all "original"
You cut the frame and then it's not original anymore and under today's regulations with cut frame rails you just can't use the truck for anything except yard work.
It’s not gonna be original at all. Changing the hole back end and also the colour as he said “for now”. It’s gonna be nothing like original 🙄
@@SaucyBegger25 yep
Its not our truck, feel free to buy one yourself and restore. I'm just glad he isn't cutting off the roof(Yet), or using a forklift to lift the cab this time.
@@williammcdonald2098 that's the stupid thing ever said. Frames are stretched all the time. And run over the road, working everyday. Don't comment if you are clueless, please.
A trick that is worth trying with damaged fuel tanks is to drop them out, empty them, plug off the various fuel line and vent ports and then use compressed air to re-inflate them. Often they'll just pop back into their original shape due to the memory in the metal of its original pressed shape. It might be a little more awkward on this one with the dent being right at the back where the flange for the joint between the outer skin and the back panel is, but it might be possible to dress that back into shape when the dent is out. Be careful though, with it being on a joint there is a danger that if you work it too much then you could end up cracking the seam and giving yourself a fuel leak when the tank is full...
It sounds odd, but I've seen it work well a number of times, including on a Ford Granada estate fuel tank that had collapsed due to the car being run when the tank vent was blocked. The resultant vacuum crushed the tank down to about a quarter of its capacity. Re-inflating it put it back to its original shape and all but half a gallon of its original capacity...
This truck brings back childhood memories for me. My father had one of these CO9670's.
He bought it brand new back in 1981. The early models had the International Harvester (IH) badging on the grill, the sides of the cab,and the door handles, before the Navistar International badging that came some years later.
Don't stretch it! Keep it original and don't put that Volvo crap on it!
oi, Volvo makes some quality crap.
Ice man mess up the international logo on 2030
I caught that too
Can be repainted
I've seen that logo with that side polished and it still looks great
Yup but it might look cool if the whole international logo was polished. Paint or polish

I love seeing people take their work seriously. Iceman seems like one of those people. I also love to see folks taking time to bring old machines back to their original glory. There's a lot to be learned in doing these sorts of things!
Awesome video restoration of old truck always been interested in cab overs been looking for one for a long time just keep the videos coming 😎

I agree with d mart 360. I have stretched a truck before and we just removed the axle and added frame so that we did not have 2 splices in the rail. If the Volvo frame is the same just cut it to match the angle on the back of the international frame and weld it in. If the frame is not the same you can call P.G. Adams in Vermont and they can ship you the frame rails exactly how you want, that’s who I used and they where very helpful. DONT LET THESE GUYS TELL YOU WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR TRUCK
Hell yeah Bruce! Loving these videos! The truck is gonna be sweet!
Looking good bro! Can't wait to see it on the road again!
It awesome to see how much the channel has grown. Been here sense the beginning
Us Florida boys ain’t used to this cold😂
Hello from the UK!
I’m loving watching this old semi being brought back to life: Extreme Recycling: rebuild and reuse.
If I may offer my two cents: Don’t repaint it. Keep the patina - buff the stripes then lacquer it all till the finish is so deep you could swim in it! Polished wheels will look cool too. And as others have said, don’t stretch it (asking for trouble), just use the Volvo axles - don’t make work for yourself. Spend the time fabricating a monster smoke stack.
Ice Man needs his own Channel: each episode he just polished something random till it looks brand new - millions of subscribers waiting for that.
Keep doing what you your doing and look forward to seeing how this all pans out! ✌🏼
Whilst i was sad you destroyed that other cab-over, its really cool to see you restoring and cleaning up this one. Its a really nice truck!
