    Perfectly explained and demonstrated.
    Thank you for this post.
    It worked for my chain that has come off the sprocket more than once.
    Problem solved.

    Great video Bud! I was struggling big time and still did after watching. Only thing i would add is if it is stuck, mine was very stuck, add some heat to it and Bamb!

    Caution to not over tighten the chain. You will notice when somebody is sitting on the machine the additional weight will cause the slack in the chain to tighten up. If the chain is too tight when empty you will put additional stress on the chain and gears, not to mention the suspension.

    My 2008 Raptor 700 was the same way. Eccentric is the word you’re looking for.
    Don’t forget the Allen or jam bolt when done!

    Thanks for the video. The geometry on a chain driven vehicle changes under load. Most good manuals recommend placing a normal ride load over the rear wheel before adjusting. I use a ratcheting tie down strap. At rest with no load my ‘95 300 XPress looks like yours back there, but put on some load and she’ll get real tight. Just sayin’

    Thanks for the video. I have a sportsman of the same vintage and this was a good start. I ended up finding tabs on the inside of the axle area the I had to hit with a hammer and punch. Same idea different technique. The bike rides again.

    Just thought i'd let you know, that the xplorer/xpress 300 that have the standard swingarm are the ones you need to compress the suspension on. All other models have the concentric swingarm which adjusts with the height of the atv with the chain. Generally, if you tighten it without compressing, the chain will snap when jumping. Here is the note straight from the manual:
    NOTE: On models with concentric swingarm (all rear chain drive except Xplorer and Xpress 300), chain tension
    can be measured at any point in the swingarm arc. It is not necessary to compress the suspension on concentric
    models. Refer to following page for drive chain adjustment on models with concentric swingarm.
    IMPORTANT: On models with standard swingarm (non-concentric) suspension
    must be compressed as shown to check drive chain tension.

    Any chance you could show how the lines for the oiler are ran from the oil reservoir. I just got a 94 300 and the guy said he bypassed the oiler so when i put mixed gas in it i got about two houses down the road and it sounds like the rings blew or something and the oiler is still installed he just took the hose off. But i didn’t know if there was a line that went to the carburetor also or how that works?

      Dan Baldwin hello! I'm probably way too late but maybe this will help someone. Mine is a 94 300 2x4. It also has ho hole. So you take an allen wrench or a pin punch and stick it through the srocket and into the housing.

    How the heck do you get the dust cover off the front without wrecking them? Do you know. Off a 95 xplorer.

    Do these machines have front diff fluid? Or is it only the hub oil on both sides? Thanks for input

    • @boebradley867
      @boebradley867 Год назад

      Yes they do. Use an Allen wrench to drop old oil and refill.

  • @smokeylabo8736
    @smokeylabo8736 4 года назад

    BEWARE! Do not over tighten the chain. Because when you sit on the machine the chain will tighten when weight is added. Leave some slack if nobody is sitting on the seat.
