    This a great dad to understand the emotional and mental support of someone trying to understand who they are. It was hard for me and millions still today I struggle with being gay myself, but just keeping opening up to the ones you know and to ask for their advice.

    My dad was this way.. Took me 26 years to come out 😞 My family has always been church, grandchildren type wanting me to marry which made me so scared to come out. He literally felt so guilty for not knowing or able to help me. I wanted to commit suicide and told my sister so she told my dad for me before I did anything. He was heartbroken I didn't tell him. I love my family and proud of who I am now.

      No one and no thing is worth taking your life over! I'm glad you did not harm yourself ! Just know we can not please everyone. I'm a Christian. I believe in the bible. But I lost a wonderful friend who was a gay man to Cancer. He was loved by everyone and was most generous. Our God is a loving God. He knows our hearts. He sees all the good we do. Continue to be strong and make a positive difference in this world. That's what matters most. Love is love. I get judgement bc people say I'm not a Christian if I except gay people. Well I tell them who am I to judge. I'm not God. But I believe the Lord is Life, Love and light. We all can change and if not so be it. I'm entitled to my belief in Christianity and you are entitled to live your life. This world would be a much nicer place to live if we could all coexist and stop the insanity with trying to change everyone. We all find our way when the time is right. Who am I to cast stones when I myself fall short of the glory of God. May God keep you safe. 🙏🤗

    I don’t think it’s fair that people have to ‘come out’ if they are gay. I am straight and I didn’t have to come out. I just worry about the incredible pressure that places on some people having to ‘come out just so that they can live honest lives. I pray for anyone who is struggling with coming out. Just remember you are perfect in the eyes of the Lord, God made you this way because you are his perfection just like everyone. God bless you all out there, gay or straight, who cares, you do you 🙏💖

    The part about holding on to a hetero relationship out of not wanting to deal with your true self has to be the most relatable. It's so hard to let go of who you were conditioned to be, and step into the true you. That's my current situation, and I hope I can one day find the strength to step into me, and step out of who I was taught to be.

      let me ask this. i dont know any straight dude that would f a dude to keep up a facade for the public, but gays do it? how does that work? its not like gays back then and even some now were disgusted with having sex with women. so whats the deal with that?

      @KusiPaavo Месяц назад

      @@user-il5hy5tr5z 2 years old comment. But as a gay who struggled for years (including having straight sex with 3 different women), I can answer... it's down to couple of things. First, the will to be straight was so goddamn powerful. I used to think I rather die, than be gay. I felt like I'm betraying my friends, brothers, my father, my country even (I'm from a country where every man has to serve in the army, attitudes are conservative). So you're willing to do literally anything.
      Secondly, there is no negative stigma in having straight sex. This plays a huge part. When it's "cool" and "what you're supposed to do" instead of "digusting" and "shameful", you'd be surprised how big effect it has on you, and how you don't find it that repulsive anymore. Actually I don't find the idea of having straight sex repulsive at all, just boring and fake. I just can't get off from it. But I was never disgusted, for having to go down on a woman etc. (As long as she's clean). There was intimacy and tenderness, so it kinda felt good actually. But not in the way it's supposed to. I cared for her emotionally, but it's not enough. And most important, not fair towards her.
      Thirdly, the male genitals are very sensitive to touch and friction. So you can get it up, even you don't really want that much. Once you're inside the woman, the rest is just mechanical motion. Getting to that point can be a bit tricky... but it's doable, if you want to believe it's the most important thing to achieve in the world.

As tough as that time was… I had to understand that it put my dad through something too. The quicker I understood that, cuz this man is old and stubborn, the quicker I could reach my true happiness. Putting all specific substance aside (in other words, irrespective of the main theme here), having that level of communication, approachability and interaction with your father, or that sense of feeling safe in speaking to your father in whatever you are going through...I never had that, so I can speak to how enviable and valuable that is.

    I don’t wanna dislike because it’s gay content (and I’m queer myself) but I wanna dislike because I don’t support him as a person. I need to see more from him to believe he regrets and feels apologetic about what he did. The things he did were horrible. “I am gay and I was struggling” is not an excuse and definitely not an apology enough for me.

    Wow!! Do you know how much courage it takes to come out in public; let alone your own Father. I think as Parents we are just afraid for our children. It's hard to be a kid and an Adult in this very judgemental world. I think how the Dad responded was good; but for Colton to do it while filming was not cool. I think their needs to be some discretion until all parties involved have time to process the information being said. I personally would love my child no matter what!! That is my kid. Now if my child killed someone I would still love him but he would have to take complete responsibility for his actions to the victims family and God. As Parents and people we can't just automatically process news and accept it straight away. It takes time. But Love is Love!!! ❤️🙏

Unconditional love the most powerful magic given from parents and friends and a soulmate never fails to accept and let u be who u are! As parent it should never matter that your child need to be what u want him to be! Never ever it should matters -it matters that the child your grown up daughter and son is a brave kind and smart one able to communicate and able to find his own luck!

    If you don’t love your son jus cus how he is… you never deserved a son. Ever. I was raised by a very homophobic father.. he even turned my mom into one. He said awful things about gays around me.. that I won’t repeat. Well.. God put me in his life to make him accept things he doesn’t understand with grace and love and not hatred and judgment. Now my dad has come around more but I still feel it’s an act jus cus it’s so not accepted to hate gays these days. It will take time to undo the cognitive misalignment he was taught to mirror.. it’s not entirely his fault he was put into a narrow way of thinking

      I think when it comes to the release of shows of this nature, it's less about the individual; Netflix, like any corporation, sees a venue to tap into, and they "trend-hop."
      I agree in the value of private conversation, which is certainly lost in the era of social media presence and celebrity stardom. In whatever situation, there's a higher value in speaking to someone in a one-on-one discussion than speaking to a camera/megaphone; through private communication, you're able to not only speak about yourself, but both analyze the receiving of that information and learn more about yourself and/or whomever you are speaking to.

      He obviously needed the safety the cameras provided, to be able to do this at all. Hard to judge if you not have walked in his shoes. Had his family shown open-mindedness and acceptance when he grew up, he would not have been so scared that he had to have a full camera crew present. He was terrified of his own parents not loving him, which is tragic. Also, while they did not know the topic of the conversation, the family did sign up to do this shoot on his show.

    Colton’s Father is a quite the looker….Like the “Marlboro Man” in the commercials. I’d be more into the Dad myself. Aside from that, his Father and Mom have great attitudes about Colton being gay. They show that they love him unconditionally, and Colton’s sexual orientation should not change that love. Besides he came from them and previous generations. It’s been proven that sexual orientation is a thing of nature, not nurturing. God created all of us, gay, straight, black, white, and everything in between.
