Thanks Matt, this is sound advice and I can remember myself as young man not heeding this advice. You know…….she’ll be right. But know lm in my sixties this info is even more important. Now living in the top end things can go balls up so quickly with our climate. Take on board Matt’s info, it’s there to protect you, nature will always win if you don’t prepare. Good video Matt and thanks for your efforts.

Thanks for the feedback Gavin. We are all guilty of taking short cuts with safety and we need to be reminded of the dangers Mother Nature throws at us. It’s a real shame about the WA prospectors.

Great advice which people should heed.. A few extra thoughts...If you indeed leaving a trip itinerary with somebody, makes sure you include clear instructions as to what you want them to do and at what time...Also include details of the vehicle you'll be travelling in, a description of your tent and a summary of your survival kit. In particular, as well as phone and sat phone details mention if you have any radios ect...Have a clear plan how you intend to signal to rescuers...maybe a smokey smudge fire (if safe) in the day, and LED strobes at night..If you take a roll of 2" duct tape, you can use it to form the word "HELP" or "SOS" on the roof of your vehicle or on your a tarp/tent. Just make sure it's a contrasting colour...
