Should I buy this Gold Claim?

- Is it worth the price? Evaluating new ground to see if I should spend the money on this easy access claim. I spent 1/2 day exploring this gold claim on the Fraser river that was for sale to see if I should buy it as a convenient place to take my Patrons on Patron outing and also to test new equipment for videos. After gold panning for a few hours I decided to go make the owner an offer. Spoiler I now have a new claim!

This video is produced by Dan Hurd, Prospector, Miner, Teacher and RUclipsr, as part of his RUclips channel based on educational videos about gold mining, gold panning, prospecting, rock hounding, and mineral collecting.
I like how you're experimenting with cinematography now. Beautiful shots :)
Yes you should get it. Nice access, even for the oldtimers, even tho I'm still a spring chicken at 51.
I like that after you chirped with enthusiasm, you quickly check your surroundings for attackers XD
I'm glad youtube recommended me this content last month. Gold prospecting and stuff is really interesting.
Glad you like it!
Dan...gold does not rust !~ oh and while you were panning....you were looking around for Bear!
True, Gold doesn't rust but you rarely find 24kt Gold. It is always alloyed with other metals. Electrum is a well known natural alloy of Gold with a high silver content for example. I have found reddish gold like Dan did and I believe it is Gold with a high copper content.
Wow Dan the claim certainly does look good. I would love to see what the last owner found on it and would love to know if he's just moving on to bigger and better things or if he's just not finding what he originally bought the claim for. It does look great though. Good luck on getting it Dan. If anyone deserves it for the hard work and dedication they put into their RUclips channel, it's definitely gotta be you.
Nice fall color leaves along the river. Have a good one. Take care and be safe out there buddy.
You Too
@@fernandodanielalvarez8416 , ill have to go take a look around. Im here in cali in gold country. Have a good one buddy.
How nice! Carpeted rocks for nice comfy panning.
Yes!
@@Danhurd I like it! Did you get it yet?
Also, I have finally panned my first ultrafine gold! I simply ground up some old RAM chips and then panned out the powder. (Ground it under water.) Very satisfying and the fine gold stays put in the pan in a way you can't describe or understand when looking at the videos. One has to experience it. So much fun!
Another great video Dan. Such a beautiful spot as well. Love looking at the gold under the microscope. Hope you buy this gorgeous claim, and find many, many nuggets on it!!😀
Congrats with your new claim!
That it may bring you lots of gold and joy in prospecting it!💛
If you ever stop with gold prospecting, you would be a great nature filmographer. You've got great eye for the little details. Love those views almost as much as you finding gold.
Very nice claim. Seems like there is decent gold there. It's going to be difficult to keep claim jumpers off of it, since it's an easy spot to get to. You might have to put up some very noticeable signs that are very easily seen by all passing by. Also, I think those red/gold flakes might just have high copper content, or they are just stained with iron rust. Either of those are feasible explanations.
You have a great personality and I enjoy your content keep up the good work! The first pan I'd say NO but after the 2nd and 3rd pan I changed my mind to a yes.
Thanks
the cinematic shot at 14:35. do more of those that was awesome.
No snow yet..... lucky you!!!!
Gotta stay on it Dano!!!!!!!✅✅✅
I'm sure snow is on it's way tho!
great video Dan, if the price is right yes you should purchase the claim, because it would be perfect for patreons to work and to test some new equipment cheers
Dan, I love the reference to klesh guitars, and how you threw the snuffer into the pan. Keep up the good work.
1.3 million subs now. In 4 years. Great job sir
Maybe after this video you will name the new claim windy banks! Thanks for sharing
if those flakes came out of a place with a lot of sulfides that weathered, the rust would make sense.
Great spot Dan
Hope you received a good deal on the claim
loved all that moss looked really cool
Love your channel Dan im very happy that you have recovered from your heart condition, truly and example of perserverance and the will to keep going, God bless you buddy keep them shiny vids coming
Nice, I have always wanted a claim
You should get one
Interesting..the stained gold...an old timer told me there are black stained nuggets that have come out around Churn..from the decaying salmon..he said..
+1 "I hope you like what you see well enough to subscribe." better than the job interview opening :D
Here in So. Nevada and No. West Arizona all we have is dry mining. You have it so much beter in the kreeks & rivers. Have fun for me too.
Dan don't worry about the people that think you are only doing it to sell claims. You can please some of the people most of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time. You know what you are doing and even if you were going out just to finds claims to sell to others you are working for it. I believe that some of those people that are getting upset are doing so because they are not doing that themselves. So keep up bringing us this really good content, sorry I am not a patreon member because I am just a college student, and good luck on your next video.
There's so much gold in that moss! Yes get that claim!
Excellent claim there Dan really hope u get it an thank u for sharing it
Its definitely beautiful there for sure
Yes it is
As always enjoyed every minute of the video. That's a great family claim! We really hope you get it. If your ever in California we'dove to have you out to our claim. Cant wait to see the next one. Much love from California.
Good one Dan! That rusty red colored gold looks identical to stuff we find here on the opposite coast of Canada (out East). Good easy access claim with great potential for so many reasons!!!
So beautiful up there! Thank you for all the amazing videos!
You are welcome
Dan Hurd hi dan
Any Day above Ground is a Gorgeous Day !!
Really enjoyed your camera work in this one, got some nice artitistic compositions like those lens flares, and the pan/zoom out before those
Thank you so much. I had fun with this one
GOOD LOOKING GOLD.
Great place to bring a bobcat for a sweet high banking day !
It is so pretty there all the moss on the rocks nice gold easy to get too.
What Dan calls "flakes" is what we call giant nuggets in Oregon lol
Yeah he’s become rather greedy
I'd say it's probably worth it from a logistical perspective. It showed enough color to get the point across without goin into the bush far. Pilgrims will think its quite wild.
Another great video, Dan!
Thanks
Hi Dan I have thoroughly enjoyed your prospecting experiences the past few weeks, (good and bad ones)!
I must be tough also maintaining a you tube channel and all too! Nice Job Dan! Well Wshes & All The Best:)
looking forward to them
Thanks
That claim does look promising! Have fun!
I would say that clam is well worth the price.... I so enjoy watching you pan I hope your pan always finds gold......
I am 80years old I like metal detectors and pan for gold from Pennsylvania usa . Love you videos hope to here from you get pay dirt from kelch
Dan, this may seem like an odd request ... but how about a video on finding and filing a claim (and forfeited one) on minefile?
It seems like a great spot for what you plan with it.
I love the Scenic breaks. that's a beautiful country you're in.
Looks like you have a "flakerplacer" claim. It might be worth your time and money to buy this claim. Nice gold, easy access, the Fraser River, beautiful scenery, it has a lot going for it. Thanks Dan, really enjoyed it and look forward to seeing your next trip there.
Not knowing the price of the claim, easy access, good gold, great camping, beautiful scenery, I would buy it! Thanks for another great video, Dan.
It looks like a lovely spot, catches the sun and gives warmth but it could be windy. All the very best to you.
Just looking The question of whether or not that was gold didn't even come to mind. I saw Gold . Have one location here in New Mexico that the gold looks quite the same. Some stained so much it's hard to clean. Those are well within a detectors reach. Time for a Snipping Coil I think.
Hi Dan! Buy that new claim! Looking good and shiney!
I did!
@@Danhurd Great to hear. Thanks for letting us know! Good luck and hope you get to name it Pickerton 2!
Interesting variation in color on those flakes. I hope you talk more about what causes it.
Glad you decided to put in an offer on this site.
I like all the moss on the river cobbles. And the gold ; ) Id buy it
Also seems like a great fishing spot
Beautiful location, and there seems to be good gold aswell!
great spot Dan
Dan, Like all the work you put into cking out claims and research ! You are an inspiration to us prospectors!👍👍👍
I want to buy a gold claim.. boy, is it complicated. Dans claims are gorgeous, my dream is to have a 10 to 20 acre claim with placer/lode gold in Colorado. Where i can place a nice small house and live out my days loving the outdoors, panning, and mining my land. But i dream, probably wont ever beable to do this... my best shot would be an owned claim that i can search around on for a bit..
Another location with scenic views 🍻🍻
I think the Gold looks Nice do buy it my friend than i can enjoy more of youre great video's thanks for sharing and God bless
Yes I’m 124 !!! Great video Dan the Panning man
Seems like you get your fair share of "haters" online! Pay them no attention. They are their own problems, please keep doing what you do!!
Cool video Mr. Hurd.!!
Yea I say go for it, beautiful spot, and there is gold
Hey Dan.Perfect spot for beginners maybe too good.I found that starting folks out on good gold or a lot of it,they tend to get lazy and expext too much. They forget too work hard. You get my drift.Luck Mcbain.
Looking forward to seeing more from this spot.
Enjoy watching your videos Dan!
Always makes me giggle, I have the same green sweater as a work coat for 5 years
Good old walfart
Dan I use Diggings to find mines both active and abandoned mines. All you have to do is find one in a gold barring district and go check it out and grab some samples to see if it's worth claiming it
Seems the highbanking spots are very close and gold in every pan. Could be a good claim. I would buy it . Great access, short equipment haul.
Great looking claim Dan hope the bartering went well on your possible (excuse the pun) new digs and great video also...Napa Cali..
I'm happy with what I got it for
Awesome as always Dan the man goodluck on new clam
Looks like a great claim to buy.
Nice gold good location good view thank you for sharing.
Good luck with the claim Dan.
Discovery channel needs to pick you up for a long running series man :)
That would be fun!
Discovery would make him run a big wash plant and bore us to death.
Agree
Just keep to your side haha 😉
Congratulations Dan on getting close to 100k subscribers keep it up👍👍
Absolutely beautiful spot! Love what your doing and your channel. Being from Indiana, where there is no natural gold, I truly enjoy seeing where the placer gold( left here , little as it is, from the last ice age) came from( ours traveled from Canadian deposits, making its way to my back door). Keep up the awesome work. Happy prospecting!!
Nice spot, not buying it would be a bad decision.
Love how your camera work is evolving too, getting so much nice shots now compared to the older vids.
Dan, I have found reddish gold like that. I believe it is Gold with a high copper content. Similar to Electrum which is Gold with a high silver content.
so cool...red hair, red gold, should call it the rojo claim....Spanish for red....just puttin it out there.
Always an adventure. First step is out the door. Thanks for taking us with you and i may have to become a patron just to come hang out.
Buy it Dan!!! I want to see more here. Highbanking should be a smashing time!!
I would say it is definitely worth it. Very nice for only a couple hours of work.
Really liked the garnets in this one too!
Would you recommend folks try Trout Creek anywhere vs. Similkameen or Fraser?
Dan,
It just amazes me how rough or, to me, sloppy with your pan you can be after you have removed the big rocks on the top. I want to know how you know just how rough you can be without worrying about losing gold. It just doesn’t look right!!! Can you help me determine the happy medium you have found and how to get a feel for it?? You are always giving little tutorials and I need this one and I’m sure there are others who view it the same way as I do. Thanks a million. You are the best!!
The sampling looked good I am no expert but I would of be happy with the results. Hope you were able to get the site for a bargain. Enjoyed the video and as always Be Safe and HH my friend.
Thanks
Looks like a great claim and with great access also. Good luck looking forward how you do there.
Hello Dan love watching your videos. Also love your humor. Learning for if I ever get to pan for gold. I have panned in Anchorage Alaska. Bent over in a river for 3 hours. The next day I could barely walk. LOL!!
I just recently started watching your videos. You have given me much information as I am a newbie to prospecting. I am looking into astablishing a claim in an area that in the recent past has produced gold. The claim was for sale in the recent past. I hope that they haven't paid their yearly to BLM. I'm in Lassen co CA
Good luck, hope you get it!
Seems like a helluva a claim for $1,000!!
Nice spot, easy vehicle, and human access, has gold, so looks GREAT ! Another interesting video...thanks Dan :)
So where does all the Frasier's gold come from, the mother load?
It sure is pretty there. Just stay safe Dan. The more subscribers you get, the more likely that a freak is to come along. Maybe bring Gino (Eureka Gold Sands) along with ya, as an enforcer!! Haha.
hey Dan enjoy your videos! was wondering..are those garnets worth anything? thanks
Nice first day Dan, looks like a good claim. Congratulations
