I really appreciate the way you drew out your plans and explained the calculations. I struggle with that part, but I’m going to try to build some new steps over top of concrete steps for my mom, with a very small budget. Thank you!
Dude!! I just LOVE your video! Simple, and to quickly to the point. I was searching for some ideas for a very similar project, and your video ia simply light years ahead of everyone else on RUclips. The "Inspection Team" at the end was the icing on the cake! So I only have one suggestion for future videos....before you turn those pages (of your calculation drawings) giveit just a few seconds (2-3max) so that people like me can take a screenshot of what you just showed us, because it is the most informative thing EVER and almost nobody does it on here! Great work man, definitely subscribing right now. Peace
Great to hear the positive feedback! I've heard a similar suggestion before to slow down so people can take a screenshot: great idea! Thanks for dropping a comment and for checking out the project. :)
I loved this video. Your diagrams are great and help so much...I want to be able to draw like that. what's that 3d drawing? you do it so easy I love it! thanks~
You've found the achilles heel of the stairs! They are a bit spongy on that landing so I'm thinking a lateral piece of 2x6 will have to be added. Good catch!
I love the style and pace of this video. We're using it to build some stairs to our newly installed slider door to the backyard, and I'm wondering why you say these are temporary stairs? What would you do to make these a more "permanent" solution?
They were temporary for the homeowner as they were planning to build a deck back there ... If I were to make them permanent I'd likely bolt a ledger to the house, sink posts for railings, and likely pour a pad/landing past the final stair. I have a few builds like that on my channel you can find by searching around ... good luck with the project!
Great video but I can't grasp the measurements (my deficit). I need 2 box steps from side garage door. Unfortunately it's concrete under the door, and uneven ground for the stairs to land. 😐
Carl’s first day on the job, he had one thing to do.... level the concrete forms.
“Dang it Carl!’ :)
Hahaha! Seriously out of whack!

You’re gonna love it when you’re done!
It’s a pleasure to see such happy customers ! D
haha! that's how I felt! :)
The best ever inspection team 👍
Your excellent, your amazing teacher, without saying empty explanation,
thanks for that and good luck with your project!

Thanks for checking it out, man!
Spencer, what carries the weight in the center of the landing? Won't those bow down in sun? Nice vid!

Thanks for checking it out
Nice video 👨🔧
Thanks!
Great work by the inspection team. How do I hire them for their services?
They work for pets and kibble ... good crew! :)

the trick is to get a level and sound first layer ... lay things out, draw those level lines, and you'll have a good baseline to work with
U said the slab was out of level. But by code, I thought it had to be sloped away from the home ?
gentle slope, yes, like 1" per 4' ... this one was waaaay off
i want to hit thumbs up but its @ 420 and i don't want to mess with it lol thanks for the vid!
4:20 gets some respect! haha
Awesome
Thanks!
What kinda dogs are they?
Good job
Those guys have little French Bulldogs. Sweet as heck and smart
@@metaspencer Thanks and im going to apply the stair to a project im doing thanks
@@swagnificent1215 Cool. good luck with it man!
Doggone good idea...I'm going to do that too! Thanks.
Simple and works! Good luck with it
Would it be practical to build 8 steps using boxes or must use stringers?
As long as it doesn't become top heavy and unbraced. I built a full boxed staircase in this video: ruclips.net/video/DkFczRW5uvM/видео.html
I seen stairs built code but that very last one at ground level was only 2-3 tall and a pain
You could have been at code and still made a landing.
Yeah, you're probably right ... but this was the way they wanted them and they worked out okay. Ya know, temporary stuff :)
perhaps the concrete slab was done by a contractor that thought spirit level means how high you pour the whiskey before you drop in some ice...
Oh yeah, that's a good one! :)
The bus
haha ... I know, I know ... the bus appeals
Great video!!!
Thanks!!
Nice job
Thanks for checking it out
