What are your thoughts on the Split Pad Pros? Is the lack of rumble, motion and Bluetooth and issue for you? Or is the size the main reason you’d get these ?
I bought the hori for size, but the lack of everything is an issue for me. There's plenty of room based on size, so they could easily offer a more expensive pair with all the electronics.
I just picked up these recently after stumbling upon them while looking at joy cons, and I have to admit I love how comfortable they are compared to the split pad.
You really helped me out man! Amazing video, I love how you go in depth about how clicky the buttons are and how far the triggers go and even how the screen lines up with the controller width! All around superb review!
Awesome, thank you! This helped me make my final decision. I'll be getting the upgraded Dobe grip gamepad instead. Thanks for reviewing my recommendation, much appreciated!🙂
Hey thanks for the review, my L bumper broke a month ago on my joy cons was looking for an alternative. Saw the review and I got to say I'm definitely picking up kydlan. I grew up with old school consoles and the dpad and the feel means more then anything. Plus right now they're 20 dollars cheaper then the hori with a better feel from what your saying. Thanks again for the review.
Disagree. The split pad not sitting flush against the device broke my joycon rails multiple times due to how they flex against them. Its easy to replace them, but the kydlans don't have this issue. Warning about the kydlans though, even though you can still find them sold online by third parties, the company seems to have disolved now. Website is gone, no updates available, unlikely to recurve any support. Binbok has a similar pair with led and wireless with rumble and batteries for just $50, but I've not tried it.
The split pad pro are the best and most comfortable joycons despite the lac of joycon features. It would be cool if Hori released a version 2 with the joycon features. The dpad, the analogs are perfect
I personally love the idea, and its sounds cool to play using them connected to the switch and both of them put together like a pro controller, but I dont think they will be very comfortable individually, but hey, I have not tried them so I cant really say
the only thing i feel weird about with the switch is that it feels weird playing on the bed, laying down, its so heavy, and with any of these pads it turn even heavier, but i must say, its much better in your hands, no cramps like the default joycons, i can actually play handheld without having my hands hurt xD
I'm save u guys the trouble, the split pad pro is perfect. U cant test these controller with mario. To know if u have the best dpad and controls is ro use them on a fighting game. Fighting games are the best test to know if u have a good joycon/controllee. Go with the split pad
Good video. Question: The Kydlan right analog stick is still in a lower spot, kinda like the right joycon. Doesn’t this lower placement of the right stick fatigue your right thumb? I ask b/c the right joycon analog stick would give me fatigue and I wonder if Kydlan does the same.
So a new version of these has gyro. How have they been holding up longevity wise? I’m quite interested in them but am definitely concerned about ,longevity
The horri one is impossible tonwake. Up to wake up the switch because it has no power to do so. It's wired, and when the switch is in sleep mode, it's off.
Thank you for the review, I really dreaming about Hori Split Pad Pro 2 with the gyro control. I was curious is that cheap clone has the gyro, unfortunately it doesn't.
If you notice the orange/brown ones off to the side in the video: they have rumble, gyro/sixaxis and battery so you can use them detached from the switch. They're great! Slightly smaller and shorter joystick than the Hori, and excessively strong rumble (original joycons have HD rumble so they change in intensity, these do not, they're always on max strength). The ABXY buttons are placed similarly to the original joycons, so it makes you have an awkward grip to reach around the joystick, but those are the only complaints I have. List of brand names they're sold as below. They're sold as: Vivefox, ECHTpower, beboncool, geemee, Kinvoca c25, esywen. Possibly more names that I have not seen. They're around 30-45 USD and come with a grip to mount them in and are placed like a circumflex (^) or an M shape, they all look the same but have different colors and marketed as different names. I can highly recommend them.
@@redcrimson1028 Uhm, I don't know about your particular model, but no - the Hori split pad buttons and d-pad are horribly mushy. The ergonomics and joysticks are the only reason one would get them, also easier availability. The ones I'm talking about have much more responsive switches for all the buttons and they feel great compared to split pad - Including the d-pad, maybe even especially the d-pad. So I don't know what kind of mediocre product you got, because the Hori is no contest. I exclusively use the split pads for games where you use the joysticks and triggers more than anything else.
Hi! Really liked your review. However I was confused when you said that the Kydlan didn’t have gyro and couldn’t be used undocked because on the Amazon page it shows that it can do those things. Still great review though, just thought I should mention that!
They’re ok. But there’s better nowadays. I’ve just made a video on animal crossing joycons (they do a black version if AC isn’t your thing). They are excellent.
Hey just wanted to say that I love your channel as I like looking into gaming accessories alot! I wanted to ask if you could do a review of BinBoks switch joycons? They are in similar vien to Hori's and Kyldan's but with lots of features. I wish them instead of the Kyldans! For instance they have motion control, can be used wirelessly, have rumble, and they have a turbo button plus a large marco button on the back for easy access. I haven't bought them yet, but they sound really great and currently they are little to no reveiws on RUclips atm. I have the Kydlan one which i mainly bought for the extra back buttons, but I have a few gripes with them, specifically two. That being the sensitivity curve being too sharp and about thirty minutes of constant use with the right stick, my hand starts to cramp up because the grip model on the right is not comfortably made. Anyways this a link to the BinBok joycon for anyone that is interested: www.amazon.com/Controller-Wireless-Replacement-Adjustable-Control/dp/B08M5RW5QP/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=binbok+joycon&qid=1610403912&sprefix=binbok&sr=8-3
Do you have an update on how you liked the Kydlan vs the Hori? Love my Hori and these don't seem like TOO much of an upgrade...but if you feel they're better even over time, I may bite. Thanks! Only person actually doing comparisons!
You’re right, there isnt much of an upgrade, just a few more functions. I think i you are wanting different joycons that are larger have a look at my review of the “Beboncool” joycons. They are superb.
After spending more time with the cheaper alternative, does it show signs of dead zone? I’ve been having issues with 3rd party controllers having it. I play Overwatch on my Switch often and do the triggers feel good when playing? Thank you for your time.
@@No1Noz thanks for the very detailed feedback buddy. I actually just got mine a few days ago. I only use mine just for playing handheld mode but never use it for charging my switch while playing. One thing for sure no switch owner should do is to use other 3rd party products to charge the switch except the official onces since Nintendo doesn’t really follow the PD protocol. Thanks for the heads up again 😊
the kydlan deadzones is worse than the split pad pro. I dunno if anyone has the same issue but mine is so I returned it and switched to the split pad pro
What are your thoughts on the Split Pad Pros? Is the lack of rumble, motion and Bluetooth and issue for you? Or is the size the main reason you’d get these ?
Got the split pad pro all for the comfort. Wish the other one is available in my country but it isn’t yet.

@@WintrBorn i agreed. If this had motion and rumble this would be perfect.
Can you match 2 button at one button?? I mean A+B to LF button?
If not, its not unnecessary to buy that new one because Split pad pro has a God tier analogue Stick

How do I know if the kydlan is charging? And what kind of power cord is it incase I need to replace?
Hi there, just like the split pads, these don’t change as they don’t have a battery.
I just bought some and it came with a cord? But when you plug it in there's no light?
The split pad doesn't charge on the dock while plugged into the switch
I ordered the split pad and it had a terrible grip. I couldn't stand it. The depth of the kildan grips is essential for playing in handheld mode.
How's the dpad?
SPP is better
How to update the firmware?
Do they affect the battery life of the switch?
They do affect it but nothing very noticeable.
How’s the drift?
Havent experienced any

Yes
