I recently purcahse the Hercules 500 and I am using it with VDJ 2023 Pro License. It works well and it is plug and play. VDj Has a manual for this Controller and expalins all the mapping and how you can customie the controller to get all the features of VDJ. This review is in error however in regards to "Lacking Effects", especially with VDJ. You do have the standard EFX (4) in the middle of the controller mixer but you also have the ability in VDJ to use the Performance Pads to trigger additioanl effects. For example, you can use the "Loop" pad and hit the shift key and in VDJ this will change The Loop Roll Pads to 'Effects" pads and you assign to each pad (8 pads =8 effects). VDJ Has tons of effects that can be assigned such as Flanger, Reverb,.Cut, Stems, Distortion, Flippin Double, Delay, Phaser, WahWah, Spiral, and Many More. It also has Video Effects that can be programmed, So don't think you need more than that and its way more than Serato. (I do not use the Djuice software or Serato so I am not sure if it has this capability.) It is pretty awesome, same can be done with the Sampler. You can have many different Sample banks with 8 samples per bank ,from instruments to recorded samples that you can assign to the Pads through the VDJ program. You can also use custom mapping "Buttons" that can be assigned in VDJ to the pads. I have only been using this for only a few hours and I am amazed at the VDJ Mapping and Capability. VDJ did an awesome mapping program with this controller. Still finding cool features and functionality. This reviewer probably did not have the time to review it with the VDJ program but I can tell you it works well with VDJ and has no limitations with "effects" wth VDJ. I highly recommend this controller with use of VDJ.
I tried using with VDJ but the beat match guide didn't work. Are they disabled in VDJ or can they be used as well because I really love the impulse 500 with VDJ instead of Serato but if this cant be done I will have to stick with Serato.
Well, one thing's for sure, I'd rather spend 300 dollars on the InPulse for what it has to offer versus 600 for the disappointing Pioneer FLX6, if I may point this out.
I just bought one never used for £180, i was hesitant about not getting the ddj400 but i thought for 180 you can't not get it from watching these reviews. Only thing im worried about is how well it can be mapped to ableton
Hello, thanks for the review! I've heard it said that the play / cue buttons are annoyingly difficult to press, you need to use a lot of pressure / they're unresponsive. Have you have found this to be the case? Is that something you would criticise I'm this controller?

FX effects if you hit shift and loops you can choose and play your effects and use your filter switch at same time !!!
Can this be done on serato pro or just on djuiced ?
