I think the reason the diamond ring is so expensive compared to regular diamonds is because of the extreme artificial price inflation of consumer diamond irl. Could be wrong, though.

a use for the dirt rod is in the old ones army as its debuff doesn't extend to the dirt rod which should allow the player to make a lava trap to deal with the non-boss enemies
Old ones army enemies can phase through blocks if it blocks their path. Theres a way better alternative Basically make one hoik tooth on the floor that moves towards the portal’s side, for example the hoik slope where the left and up side are a straight line moves to the right, and the slope where the right and up side are straight moves to the left. Then use block replace and replace that with a platform. This is i like to call the magic platform. Walking towards it from where the portals are should hoik you backwards. Do this trick in front of the would-be portals and you have basically pacified every ground enemy. All thats left to worry about are the flying ones
When one Terraria playthrough lasts for months at a time (Some people including myself play the game like that) the Adamantite/Titanium and Chlorophyte pickaxes are actually quite useful. The gap between starting hardmode and defeating all three mech bosses is so long the increased mining speed for collecting all the stuff I need for builds is great. So I wouldn't call them useless but they're very play style dependant.

If it's expert or master It just seems everything progresses so fast, you don't really have as much time to sit there and make really cool builds. Get hit with that blood moon, solar eclipse and pirate invasion back to back lmao
Honestly, blowgun has a surprising niche use in the start of hardmode, because it can fire crystal darts that bounce all over the place and excel in underground combat, which is basically where all of early hardmode takes place. Of course the dart guns are infinitely better, but finding and killing a biome mimic for it can be really difficult before you have solid gear upgrades, and blowgun can be a perfectly decent placeholder while you get the upgrades and/or souls necessary for the dart guns. For 5 gold, it's pretty worth it considering its performance is comparable with the wall of flesh drops minus firecracker.
Heck, with ichor darts and well-placed shots, it's strong enough to handle some of the mech bosses. Ridiculous for a weapon that can be acquired for 5 gold before hardmode even starts.
I do not agree. The most useless items are: the old shoe; the tin can; seaweed. Not seeing them in the top 3 was quite disappointing. @@sockrteez I don't think the pearlwood items are trying to be useful- they're wooden items with wooden item stats, and don't really care much that the wood they need is locked behind hardmode. They're there for consistency's sake, and no other reason.
I think that pearlwood armor should be changed to a utility set. Maybe something for building since, while there is mining and fishing armor, there's a distinct lack of armor used to build shit.
We need to give the dirt rod special attention due to a nerf 4days after it’s introduction in the 1.0.0 release At release there was a glitch that would drag falling sand above the dirt block being dragged: this would allow ungodly damage to be dealt since race price of sand does 5 damage which accumulates quickly
As far as I know, the Calamity Mod buffs pearlwood gear to be at least slightly better. I think it buffs the damage of the pearlwood weapons a bit and actually gives the pearlwood bow a special effect where it also shoots out three rainbows from the rainbow gun, also dealing damage. (also it allows the pearlwood hammer to break demon altars, though that doesn't matter that much.)
I actually always get the titanium/adamantite picks because I'm the type to always get both orichalcum armor (exclusively for the destroyer, those pedals basically make every weapon viable against it) and tier 3 armor (for uh, pretty much everything else). The tier 3 pickaxes make that process so much easier with their superior speed and mining power.
If argue the plant fiber guide is worse than the pearl wood sword for 2 reasons: 1. It deals no damage 2. It includes a mechanic that has already been replaced (buying/finding rope) Edit: almost forgot to mention webs do the same thing so it gets replaced by two mechanics
I disagree for a simple reason: in the start, you don't have enough acessories, and finding a reforged plant fiber guide is better than nothing, specially if you get one with defense.

I'd like to think the Pearlwood armor would be used to make the hollowed set, I'm not sure why but it feels like it'd be a neat idea for it to have at least some purpose in hardmode
I feel like adimantite and titanium pickaxes are useful due to their huge increase in mining speed. This allows you to collect ores at a faster rate if you are struggling to get what you need

I’ve come up with a way to make the dirt rod slightly better. A. Have the dirt rod be able to pick up more than one dirt block at a time B. Have the dirt rod shoot out dirt blocks like the ice rod shoots out ice blocks
I'd argue that dirt rod does have its niche in pre-hm. Especially in Master Mode it can be used to quickly block off doors during an event if you're too far away from them and mobs are breaking through. More fighting space if there's mobs already inside.
I've actually discovered that the blowgun can be useful during boss fights. Make ichor darts for it, and use those to debuff the boss before switching back to your normal, high damage dealing weapon.
That works great, until you can get the wizard and make the golden shower. Imo the golden shower is an item you should get as soon as possible and helps theought the entire game

Good honorable mention is the blue moon, a mace you get from dungeon chests. Where you also get obsidian keys to then go straight into the sunfury from underworld chests
In calamity the early HM progression system is drastically altered, adamantite/titanium pickaxes are used to mine hallowed which spawns after all 3 mechs have been defeated so they do have a purpose in calamity, although in vanilla it is useless.
I feel like the diamond ring shouldn't be included because it's a vanity item. Yes it's expensive, yes it is only a small par in the model when equiped, but the point is aesthetic. Just because someone doesn't really like it doesn't mean is is useless

The adamantite / Titanium picaxes and blowpipe could be replaced by the Lawnmower that only makes grass ugly and very slightly decresase spawn rates and the void monolith that change the background to black and make the screen shake wich is underwelming since it cost luminite to make.
I think I would probably add the zenith to this list. So hard to craft, and it can’t even be used to fight providence. I hope they fix this in a future update… (and before you say anything, yes this is a joke, and yes, i know providence is only fightable in 1.3
Hey man, try setting your refresh rate to 60hz. your Items and Smart Cursor should stop flashing after that :) I had this problem, Terraria doesn't support upwards of 60hz.

@@sockrteez Alternatively, instead of changing your monitors refresh rate, just disable vsync in the visual settings. It locks your in-game fps to 60 and doesn't effect the smoothness of the rest of your computer

I’d say the most useless is the tin short sword It barely does more than the copper short sword you spawn with and it’s only in 50% of worlds and you have to look for the tin You can’t even use it to craft zenith so this is the most pointless
also if you make a one block thick platform high up out of dirt and then summon the old ones army on top, you can actually move the dirt with the dirt rod despite not being able to mine anything, breaking the event

Dirt rod can make some awesome minigames. I created dirt soccer on a server I was on. Didnt take off though. There were even barriers you could set up so the dirt would stick to them and you’d have to aim your shots correctly to avoid them. Also the diamond ring can be pretty cute if you’re playing with your spouse.
couldve been an early hardmode mage set (since hallowed is magic themed) like spider for summoner and frost for melee/range, just obviously including smth like some crystal shards so it's not too easyt o get
I actually find the Dirt Rod pretty useful, because it's one of the few reliable ways of placing blocks under lava. This happens because when you move dirt with it the dirt becomes a gravity-affected block like sand, silt or slush, meaning that they can fall through lava and stop once reaching the bottom. However, with the dirt rod, the deal is different: as soon as the dirt falls on a block, it becomes a regular dirt block, meaning that it's not affected by gravity anymore and you can remove a block bellow it without the dirt falling. This is especially useful when there's that one block you want to mine without the lava next to it flowing outside.
Meanwhile I love titanium pickaxe to mine out a lot of stuff (yes, I am this special owner of miner's set, ancient chisel, mining potions and major food), I actually remember myself with titanium pickaxe mining faster than I could run with some boots, I love using dirt rod anywhen I can in multiplayer and have it favourited in inventory. Diamond ring is being used by me whenever I want to look nice (and I spend most of my time collecting stuff instead of farming, yes, I am the one to trash platinum bars for an angel statue or nice paintings)
I think that all vanity items are equally useless, no matter their price. I also think that the inferno potion is useless because the amount of fire tick damage taken is minimal compared to what my weapons do, maybe on bosses because of how long those take, but that's a stretch IMO.
I warrant the diamond ring as extra useless as you assume it would be special in some way due to its price tag. But it’s a single pixel on your character so it’s not even useful as vanity lol
dirt rod is funni in multiplayer and the adam pick isnt a waste in ftw/journey-ftw-expert playthroughs due to how long it will be till you get the drax.
I love the quality and style of this video, but your facts are definitely wrong. Blowgun with ichor darts are definitively the best easy-to-get weapon needed to defeat the mechs and even Plantera/Golem. It’s better than a Hallowed Repeater, which is post Destroyer, and it only requires defeating QB. It’s viable for sub-2hour speedruns of the game, so I’m sure it’s viable for your average Joe. While the dirt rod and diamond ring are indeed pointless, that’s the point! They’re meant to be silly little items that you and your friends can laugh at. I don’t think a good laugh can be considered useless.
One has something you may not know there is a flask of confetti which is utterly and confusingly useless to its core all it does create confetti whenever you hit something try crashing you out a thousand times can happen especially if you use flash of confetti with the zenith and attack dummies you will 100% crash if you hold it long enough

Another terrible one is tin tools. It's on the same tier as copper tools, but you have to actually work for them. There's never any point to getting them, unless you're doing some sort of challenge where you have no tools at the start and have to make them.
My top five useless items what are meant to have a use would probably be: 5: the ruler (why they made it a weapon and not a tool idk) 4: Reavershark (nerf killed it) 3: blowgun (obviously) 2: Zenith (because it is only a trophy item really) 1: Gravity Globe (just why) Might be other things I'm forgetting but these are the ones I can think of
Bruh reaver shark is literally a freeskip to platinum pick level (I'd argue above), and all you gotta do is make to the ocean with a few sonars and some starry worms Only thing above it is bone pick which requires insane luck, insane grinding, or time building an afk mob grinder, OR hellstone level picks Zenith is useless bc when you get it you have basically beaten the game so getting it is the end goal, not actually using it
I use the dirt rod for measuring more than 60 blocks. Any further than 60 blocks needs to be done in more than one screen, and if you're measuring on a surface that is uniform, it's super easy to lose your place, that's why I'll use a dirt rod to place a block all the way at the edge of my screen so that i can know that those 6p blocks have already been measured
The dirt rod is able to do pretty much what the sand gun can do but without having to have sand in your inventory. Just pick up some dirt, and fling it at your enemy. Though, the learning curve on it makes it comparable in cost to the illegal gun parts required to make the sand gun.
I agree with most of the list; however, if you're not trying to beat the game too quickly, a t3 pickaxe or drill can be quite nice if you want to dig an area out for a mech boss arena or mob farm.

Blowgun is a Ranger's early access to Ichor without the investment of bullets/arrows. Switching ammo types is a pain for maximizing DPS but blowpipes, bows and guns all use separate types so you can use a Blowgun for your debuffer and switch to your preferred DPS weapon. This is what I do until I get access to the Dart Rifle which is a long ways when just starting out pre-hardmode. Also the DPS it puts out with the correct Ammo type is no joke, gotta remember for rangers it's "Gun Damage" + "Ammo Damage." With ranger ammo buffs and Rage/Wrath potions you can take only the blowgun up to Golem.
In defense of the adamantite drill, prior to 1.2, hallowed gear was made by combining all three hardmode ore items of the same type, which meant to get what was at the time called the hamdrax, you needed a cobalt drill, a mythril drill, and an adamantite drill, plus their respective chainsaws, and some mechanical boss souls. So it was incredibly useful at one point, it just had that use removed, which is more than can be said of the other items on this list.
The dirt rod is a novelty item, but I will argue that flinging dirt with it is fun. As for the pearlwood gear, I can imagine it coming into some play on a multiplayer server that isn't largely cooperative, so you might join the server after it has entered hardmode, either way, I agree it should be tuned up compared to standard wood just because of what biome you have to enter to get it.

dude, speaking of the drax, I somehow got it in the underworld, it was on mobile, and I thought "oh wow, a fast pickaxe, but I have a better looking one and it doesnt seem to be an upgrade to my pickaxe" and just threw it, I didn't know it was a strong pickaxe after beating my first mech boss... sad ten year old me...
The dirt rod can actually be used to cheese the Old Ones Army. Just build a platform out of dirt (you can probably see where this is going) and then once the old ones army is summoned you can drop the dirt blocks with the dirt rod especially the ones below the portal then the enemies will just straight up fall down. You can also remove a block from the very left or right of the Eternia Crystal Stand and it will disappear and leave the crystal floating. But if you remove the center block from the Eternia Crystal Stand then the Eternia Crystal will just fall down lol. The only problem is that betsy can fly so yeah.
I kinda disagree with the Adamantite and Titanium pickaxes. Yes, they don't mine any new blocks, but higher pickaxe power = less hits needed to break sth. And when you collected everything made out of the metal you need (armor and stuff), than if you have some bars left, it's still good to craft it.
2:13 the dirt rod can pick up a line of sand, and for every sand picked up it gains more damage. it use to have no cap, allowing for people to deal as much damage as the integer limit.
I would say the tier 3 Hardmode ore pickaxes are useful since while you're waiting to fight the mech bosses it's nice to have a better pickaxe to dig area out for a farm or to stop corruption/crimson/hallow spreading or just mining for extra resources.
Did you know that, if you build a big platform out of dirt, then you summon old ones army, you can actually "mine" the dirt, even tho you have the Creative Shock effect?
There are only 2 reasons why you make an adamantite/titanium pick, its either you want a slightly faster pickaxe or you were crafting adamantite/titanium armor and you realized that you still had some bars spare so you decided to make the tools
I remember doing a dart playthrough and really enjoying the blowgun. Though its fire rate is mediocre, its damage when paired with poison darts is quite solid for prehardmode. It's a shame the only thing you can wear to enhance it in prehardmode is necro armor, though...
they should make a woodworking station, where you can combine 20 some pearlwood with one type of all wood(and i mean all wood, even traveling merchant woods) to make a bow that turns wooden arrows into jester arrows, a sword that creates a rainbow like the rainbow gun but weaker whenever you hit a enemy with a melee strike, and a hammer that can be combined with the pwnhammer and 5 of each celestial fragment to make the best hammer in the game, capable of breaking altars and having the highest base speed and hammer power of any hammer in the game, just as an unecessary flex or to just 100% max out a character
I actually have an actual use for the dirt rod When making a hellevator and you dig into a lava pool and you don't want to flood the caves with lava you can use the dirt rod to block off the lava from the sides and there will be much less lava to deal with and while some people might say "just flood the caves with lava" my OCD doesn't let me do that
Ok, I have a couple qualms with this list. #1, Blowgun. Although not useful hardly at all with high difficulty or FTW (for those who didn't know green slimes don't normally have 500 health), in the early game and especially for a new player, it can be quite useful. Darts can be easily farmed, and although the on fire debuff deals more damage per second, that isn't the only variable at play. Take into consideration that poison darts deal more damage, are guaranteed to poison, and the poisoning lasts longer + cannot be "put out". I will not deny that it's not a common choice, however. #2: Dirt Rod. Ok, so, dirt rod can be useful for needing to reach heights without wings. All you need is a straight path up and 2 dirt blocks, and bam. It can also be useful for messing with people, and it evades me why you say it could be used to activate pressure plates, and then still place it below the T3 hardmode ore picks. I'll not complain about the diamond ring, but I will point out that the people like to RP in Terraria, as well as those who like to add small details and backstory to their aesthetic need to be at the very least acknowledged. Simply an objective opinion, but maybe instead of blowgun, you had the whoopee cushion. After all, it's only functionality is a fart joke and another balloon type, and it behaves the same as all the others save for the sounds. I'd like to make it known that i don't entirely disagree with the list. It's hard to pick out the most useless items because Re-Logic did a pretty good job making sure most items in the game had a use of some kind and wouldn't be too obscure and forgotten. I've left out ordering in my statements as I don't really see the point in listing it, though I do have my opinions on that as well. Nonetheless, you read this even though it was 11 days late, why? i gotta admit, the dirt rod is pretty fun to use. the chad move of turning on pvp then just fucking throwing a chunk of dirt at someone to disrespect them is unrivaled
I actually used the blowgun quite a lot. It carried me through The Twins and Destroyer when I combined it with cursed darts. Back then I was lazy to grind souls of night to get Dart Rifle.
1. The blowgun and its "upgrade" blowpipe is interesting item for very early in the game. If you kill any "hornet" kind of monster in the jungle you can make poison darts for it. 2. The hardmode ores I prefer fishing to get them. When it comes to gameplay progression, at most I mine maximum 3 "evil" biome crafting stations (6 for drunk worlds). Then once I am prepared to fight the mechanical bosses, I use other early hardmode weapons or even prehardmode weapons to deal with them, they have high health but almost no defense. Really beating duke fishron pre mechanical bosses is the toughest battle in early hardmode. 3. The dirt rod is a situational item if you want to move dirt blocks without placing them in your bag. 4. The almost most expensive vanity item in terraria it is much better to use greedy ring instead. 5. I would love to have prehardmode hallow. Sucks to not have this in regular map seeds. The king slime should be buffed and queen slime nerfed to be like the current king slime making it the prehardmode hallow boss. The mechanical bosses drop "hallowed" bars for some reason and there is no "hallowed" ore in the game unlike the corruption or crimson who have an ore. Despite being made hardmode versions of pre hardmode bosses, they seem to have not only a connection with the evil biomes, but also with the hallow for some reason due to the item they drop. I also want ocram to come back as a mechanical version for Crain of Cthulhu.
Titanium and Adamantite pickaxes become not useless if your on a server with a few people who want to all be on at the same time to fight the mechs. It can take a few days for schedules to line up and during that time having the slightly extra mining speed becomes a nice small thing to grab after armor.
Tbh I unironically don't think the diamond ring should be on here. It's a nice, subtle filler item for basically any outfit, and with dyes, I love having an enchanted rainbow ring. It's cool.
hate to be an umactally guy, but dirt rod is amazing for 2 niche but useful things. auto detonating land mines like you said but also to pothole cheese the old ones army.
i think the blowgun would be useful if you're doing a playthrough where you could only use weapons with darts since both the pipe and gun can use all darts as ammo
not to mention the chlorophyte pickaxe/drill since it needs a material that is much more valuable than hallowed bars and yet has the same pickaxe power as the drax/pickaxe axe, but no axe power, meaning it's much more expensive for a much worse item
diamond ring is vanity so i dont really know if its fair to include it. also, you can give it to someone else, which is probably the actual purpose of it. (team fotress 2 does the same thing with the "something special for someone special" ring that costs $100 to give to someone)

For 5 gold, it's pretty worth it considering its performance is comparable with the wall of flesh drops minus firecracker.
Heck, with ichor darts and well-placed shots, it's strong enough to handle some of the mech bosses. Ridiculous for a weapon that can be acquired for 5 gold before hardmode even starts.

Accurate. Only way I was able to beat Prime when he unexpectedly showed up my third night in HM was by using the blowgun with crystal darts.

I think that pearlwood armor should be changed to a utility set. Maybe something for building since, while there is mining and fishing armor, there's a distinct lack of armor used to build shit.

We need to give the dirt rod special attention due to a nerf 4days after it’s introduction in the 1.0.0 release
At release there was a glitch that would drag falling sand above the dirt block being dragged: this would allow ungodly damage to be dealt since race price of sand does 5 damage which accumulates quickly
Hence why sand is so overpowered.
Fun fact, In earlier versions of the game, the dirt rod was around 20 gold.

As far as I know, the Calamity Mod buffs pearlwood gear to be at least slightly better. I think it buffs the damage of the pearlwood weapons a bit and actually gives the pearlwood bow a special effect where it also shoots out three rainbows from the rainbow gun, also dealing damage. (also it allows the pearlwood hammer to break demon altars, though that doesn't matter that much.)

I actually always get the titanium/adamantite picks because I'm the type to always get both orichalcum armor (exclusively for the destroyer, those pedals basically make every weapon viable against it) and tier 3 armor (for uh, pretty much everything else). The tier 3 pickaxes make that process so much easier with their superior speed and mining power.

If argue the plant fiber guide is worse than the pearl wood sword for 2 reasons:
1. It deals no damage
2. It includes a mechanic that has already been replaced (buying/finding rope)

I disagree for a simple reason: in the start, you don't have enough acessories, and finding a reforged plant fiber guide is better than nothing, specially if you get one with defense.

I’ve come up with a way to make the dirt rod slightly better.
A. Have the dirt rod be able to pick up more than one dirt block at a time
B. Have the dirt rod shoot out dirt blocks like the ice rod shoots out ice blocks
I'd argue that dirt rod does have its niche in pre-hm. Especially in Master Mode it can be used to quickly block off doors during an event if you're too far away from them and mobs are breaking through. More fighting space if there's mobs already inside.
I've actually discovered that the blowgun can be useful during boss fights. Make ichor darts for it, and use those to debuff the boss before switching back to your normal, high damage dealing weapon.
That works great, until you can get the wizard and make the golden shower. Imo the golden shower is an item you should get as soon as possible and helps theought the entire game
If you're in Hardmode you can just get a dart pistol/rifle. It's not hard at all.

In calamity the early HM progression system is drastically altered, adamantite/titanium pickaxes are used to mine hallowed which spawns after all 3 mechs have been defeated so they do have a purpose in calamity, although in vanilla it is useless.
I think it's first mech unlocks orichalcum/mythril 2nd unlocks adam/titanium and 3rd unlocks hallowed ore (cursed af ik)
I feel like the diamond ring shouldn't be included because it's a vanity item. Yes it's expensive, yes it is only a small par in the model when equiped, but the point is aesthetic. Just because someone doesn't really like it doesn't mean is is useless

The adamantite / Titanium picaxes and blowpipe could be replaced by the Lawnmower that only makes grass ugly and very slightly decresase spawn rates and the void monolith that change the background to black and make the screen shake wich is underwelming since it cost luminite to make.
The adamantite and titanium pixaxes/drills really surprised me since I craft them in every run and there are many more useless items.

Dirt rod can make some awesome minigames. I created dirt soccer on a server I was on. Didnt take off though. There were even barriers you could set up so the dirt would stick to them and you’d have to aim your shots correctly to avoid them.
Also the diamond ring can be pretty cute if you’re playing with your spouse.

I actually find the Dirt Rod pretty useful, because it's one of the few reliable ways of placing blocks under lava. This happens because when you move dirt with it the dirt becomes a gravity-affected block like sand, silt or slush, meaning that they can fall through lava and stop once reaching the bottom. However, with the dirt rod, the deal is different: as soon as the dirt falls on a block, it becomes a regular dirt block, meaning that it's not affected by gravity anymore and you can remove a block bellow it without the dirt falling. This is especially useful when there's that one block you want to mine without the lava next to it flowing outside.

Meanwhile I love titanium pickaxe to mine out a lot of stuff (yes, I am this special owner of miner's set, ancient chisel, mining potions and major food), I actually remember myself with titanium pickaxe mining faster than I could run with some boots, I love using dirt rod anywhen I can in multiplayer and have it favourited in inventory. Diamond ring is being used by me whenever I want to look nice (and I spend most of my time collecting stuff instead of farming, yes, I am the one to trash platinum bars for an angel statue or nice paintings)
I think that all vanity items are equally useless, no matter their price. I also think that the inferno potion is useless because the amount of fire tick damage taken is minimal compared to what my weapons do, maybe on bosses because of how long those take, but that's a stretch IMO.

Fire tick damage is useful for extra damage, and the reason why most vanity isn’t useless is because you don’t spend a lot of money on it
Inferno Potion can protect you from Duke Fishron bubbles and some Lunatic Cultist projectiles so it's not entirely useless

I love the quality and style of this video, but your facts are definitely wrong. Blowgun with ichor darts are definitively the best easy-to-get weapon needed to defeat the mechs and even Plantera/Golem. It’s better than a Hallowed Repeater, which is post Destroyer, and it only requires defeating QB. It’s viable for sub-2hour speedruns of the game, so I’m sure it’s viable for your average Joe.
While the dirt rod and diamond ring are indeed pointless, that’s the point! They’re meant to be silly little items that you and your friends can laugh at. I don’t think a good laugh can be considered useless.

One has something you may not know there is a flask of confetti which is utterly and confusingly useless to its core all it does create confetti whenever you hit something try crashing you out a thousand times can happen especially if you use flash of confetti with the zenith and attack dummies you will 100% crash if you hold it long enough

Another terrible one is tin tools. It's on the same tier as copper tools, but you have to actually work for them. There's never any point to getting them, unless you're doing some sort of challenge where you have no tools at the start and have to make them.
My top five useless items what are meant to have a use would probably be:
5: the ruler (why they made it a weapon and not a tool idk)
4: Reavershark (nerf killed it)
3: blowgun (obviously)
2: Zenith (because it is only a trophy item really)
1: Gravity Globe (just why)

Bruh reaver shark is literally a freeskip to platinum pick level (I'd argue above), and all you gotta do is make to the ocean with a few sonars and some starry worms

I use the dirt rod for measuring more than 60 blocks. Any further than 60 blocks needs to be done in more than one screen, and if you're measuring on a surface that is uniform, it's super easy to lose your place, that's why I'll use a dirt rod to place a block all the way at the edge of my screen so that i can know that those 6p blocks have already been measured
But dirt rod isn't ment to be useful it's ment to be funni
The dirt rod is able to do pretty much what the sand gun can do but without having to have sand in your inventory. Just pick up some dirt, and fling it at your enemy. Though, the learning curve on it makes it comparable in cost to the illegal gun parts required to make the sand gun.

Blowgun is a Ranger's early access to Ichor without the investment of bullets/arrows. Switching ammo types is a pain for maximizing DPS but blowpipes, bows and guns all use separate types so you can use a Blowgun for your debuffer and switch to your preferred DPS weapon. This is what I do until I get access to the Dart Rifle which is a long ways when just starting out pre-hardmode.
Also the DPS it puts out with the correct Ammo type is no joke, gotta remember for rangers it's "Gun Damage" + "Ammo Damage." With ranger ammo buffs and Rage/Wrath potions you can take only the blowgun up to Golem.

In defense of the adamantite drill, prior to 1.2, hallowed gear was made by combining all three hardmode ore items of the same type, which meant to get what was at the time called the hamdrax, you needed a cobalt drill, a mythril drill, and an adamantite drill, plus their respective chainsaws, and some mechanical boss souls.
So it was incredibly useful at one point, it just had that use removed, which is more than can be said of the other items on this list.
I feel like you are missing an important tool. The laser drill. Completely useless as it gains no mining speed buffs

As for the pearlwood gear, I can imagine it coming into some play on a multiplayer server that isn't largely cooperative, so you might join the server after it has entered hardmode, either way, I agree it should be tuned up compared to standard wood just because of what biome you have to enter to get it.

The dirt rod can actually be used to cheese the Old Ones Army. Just build a platform out of dirt (you can probably see where this is going) and then once the old ones army is summoned you can drop the dirt blocks with the dirt rod especially the ones below the portal then the enemies will just straight up fall down. You can also remove a block from the very left or right of the Eternia Crystal Stand and it will disappear and leave the crystal floating. But if you remove the center block from the Eternia Crystal Stand then the Eternia Crystal will just fall down lol. The only problem is that betsy can fly so yeah.

I kinda disagree with the Adamantite and Titanium pickaxes. Yes, they don't mine any new blocks, but higher pickaxe power = less hits needed to break sth. And when you collected everything made out of the metal you need (armor and stuff), than if you have some bars left, it's still good to craft it.
The blow gun with poison darts carried through the first couple bosses, then getting the upgrade from the witch doctor helped with more
2:13 the dirt rod can pick up a line of sand, and for every sand picked up it gains more damage. it use to have no cap, allowing for people to deal as much damage as the integer limit.
I would say the tier 3 Hardmode ore pickaxes are useful since while you're waiting to fight the mech bosses it's nice to have a better pickaxe to dig area out for a farm or to stop corruption/crimson/hallow spreading or just mining for extra resources.
Did you know that, if you build a big platform out of dirt, then you summon old ones army, you can actually "mine" the dirt, even tho you have the Creative Shock effect?
There are only 2 reasons why you make an adamantite/titanium pick, its either you want a slightly faster pickaxe or you were crafting adamantite/titanium armor and you realized that you still had some bars spare so you decided to make the tools

I remember doing a dart playthrough and really enjoying the blowgun. Though its fire rate is mediocre, its damage when paired with poison darts is quite solid for prehardmode. It's a shame the only thing you can wear to enhance it in prehardmode is necro armor, though...
they should make a woodworking station, where you can combine 20 some pearlwood with one type of all wood(and i mean all wood, even traveling merchant woods) to make a bow that turns wooden arrows into jester arrows, a sword that creates a rainbow like the rainbow gun but weaker whenever you hit a enemy with a melee strike, and a hammer that can be combined with the pwnhammer and 5 of each celestial fragment to make the best hammer in the game, capable of breaking altars and having the highest base speed and hammer power of any hammer in the game, just as an unecessary flex or to just 100% max out a character
The Dirt Rod is an old relic. Before it was patched out it was basically a budget click-projectile wand with an infinite-duration hurtbox.
I actually have an actual use for the dirt rod
When making a hellevator and you dig into a lava pool and you don't want to flood the caves with lava you can use the dirt rod to block off the lava from the sides and there will be much less lava to deal with and while some people might say "just flood the caves with lava" my OCD doesn't let me do that
Ok, I have a couple qualms with this list. #1, Blowgun. Although not useful hardly at all with high difficulty or FTW (for those who didn't know green slimes don't normally have 500 health), in the early game and especially for a new player, it can be quite useful. Darts can be easily farmed, and although the on fire debuff deals more damage per second, that isn't the only variable at play. Take into consideration that poison darts deal more damage, are guaranteed to poison, and the poisoning lasts longer + cannot be "put out". I will not deny that it's not a common choice, however.
#2: Dirt Rod. Ok, so, dirt rod can be useful for needing to reach heights without wings. All you need is a straight path up and 2 dirt blocks, and bam. It can also be useful for messing with people, and it evades me why you say it could be used to activate pressure plates, and then still place it below the T3 hardmode ore picks.
I'll not complain about the diamond ring, but I will point out that the people like to RP in Terraria, as well as those who like to add small details and backstory to their aesthetic need to be at the very least acknowledged.
Simply an objective opinion, but maybe instead of blowgun, you had the whoopee cushion. After all, it's only functionality is a fart joke and another balloon type, and it behaves the same as all the others save for the sounds.

I actually used the blowgun quite a lot. It carried me through The Twins and Destroyer when I combined it with cursed darts.
Back then I was lazy to grind souls of night to get Dart Rifle.
1. The blowgun and its "upgrade" blowpipe is interesting item for very early in the game. If you kill any "hornet" kind of monster in the jungle you can make poison darts for it.
2. The hardmode ores I prefer fishing to get them. When it comes to gameplay progression, at most I mine maximum 3 "evil" biome crafting stations (6 for drunk worlds). Then once I am prepared to fight the mechanical bosses, I use other early hardmode weapons or even prehardmode weapons to deal with them, they have high health but almost no defense. Really beating duke fishron pre mechanical bosses is the toughest battle in early hardmode.
3. The dirt rod is a situational item if you want to move dirt blocks without placing them in your bag.
4. The almost most expensive vanity item in terraria it is much better to use greedy ring instead.
5. I would love to have prehardmode hallow. Sucks to not have this in regular map seeds. The king slime should be buffed and queen slime nerfed to be like the current king slime making it the prehardmode hallow boss. The mechanical bosses drop "hallowed" bars for some reason and there is no "hallowed" ore in the game unlike the corruption or crimson who have an ore. Despite being made hardmode versions of pre hardmode bosses, they seem to have not only a connection with the evil biomes, but also with the hallow for some reason due to the item they drop. I also want ocram to come back as a mechanical version for Crain of Cthulhu.
I like Tremor's Motherboard approach to it. They need a better name for the soul though. Like Soul of Insight, fits perfectly with the mental theme.
Titanium and Adamantite pickaxes become not useless if your on a server with a few people who want to all be on at the same time to fight the mechs. It can take a few days for schedules to line up and during that time having the slightly extra mining speed becomes a nice small thing to grab after armor.
Tbh I unironically don't think the diamond ring should be on here. It's a nice, subtle filler item for basically any outfit, and with dyes, I love having an enchanted rainbow ring. It's cool.
hate to be an umactally guy, but dirt rod is amazing for 2 niche but useful things. auto detonating land mines like you said but also to pothole cheese the old ones army.
i think the blowgun would be useful if you're doing a playthrough where you could only use weapons with darts since both the pipe and gun can use all darts as ammo
not to mention the chlorophyte pickaxe/drill since it needs a material that is much more valuable than hallowed bars and yet has the same pickaxe power as the drax/pickaxe axe, but no axe power, meaning it's much more expensive for a much worse item
diamond ring is vanity so i dont really know if its fair to include it. also, you can give it to someone else, which is probably the actual purpose of it. (team fotress 2 does the same thing with the "something special for someone special" ring that costs $100 to give to someone)
