Thank you for sharing this. I'm a photo editor for a national newspaper and it KILLS me that so few shooters don't take 5 seconds to add a little contrast.
Exactly
Reality is so boring give it some pop. s
That should be the job of the editor though. Usually the photographer sends JPEGs directly from the camera and if he chose a profile with a lot of contrast, it may be harder to recover highlights and shadows afterwards. So a flat profile is better in that regard. The filter in the video was very aggressive. Online media want photos within minutes ore even seconds. A newspaper of course has a lot more time.
@@skyscraperfanI remember watching a video on what an NFL photographer does. The photographer will do their job and shoot, then hand off the memory card at some point to someone that runs it to an editor while they use another memory card to keep shooting. Hence why sometimes, you are seeing photos super fast after a big play.
@@jgaffney567Reality isn't boring as you claim. It's up to you to find the natural pop that each scene inherently has.
love how you are such a transparent professional and show the mistakes but still turn it into a positive lesson
It's nice to see that even more experienced photographer get their shares of problems... Makes me realize it's not easy and even the best have to face reality.
Thank you for also sharing your "I missed this shot" with us. It's reassuring that even amazing photographers are human too.
Your honesty is refreshing in a world of "perfect" photographers.
Love that you show all the photos and not just the keepers!
As someone from Argentina this is the best crossover video I could have asked. So yeah, I want one of those prints, so I can hang it on the wall and remind myself of the great Lio and the great photographer/youtuber from Philly
I love videos like this. It's a real insight into what the pros do at events. Much love for the channel from the UK.
Thank you! Jared. We appreciate your transparency.
The fact that you are allowing us to download these photos is awesome!Messi is my favorite player and I don’t have media credentials to capture him when he comes to my city. I just want a momento that’s not just a photo taken from some web site. Thank you sir!!!
Messi jumping out of your frame isn't a fail...the man's a wizard, you're a mere human. Soooo loved this video....one of your prints would just round it off.
I want a print. Messi is a joy to watch and that is great that you got this opportunity to take pictures of him.
Thanks for showing the RAW photos and the greater punch you got on that photo with a single preset. Very few professional photographers show their original photos.
I wanna print, but I really want to thank you for all you do and I have learned and enjoyed watching the Fro channel, so keep'm coming!!
I want a print! My kids would love that for sure. I love how you always show the behind the scenes. From the location you shot from, to the photos you didn't choose. That's what I like about your channel. I always learn so much from watching your EV footage and your edit sessions. Thanks Jared
The honest transparency over missing frames is refreshing! Same with getting 8 bangers out of a few hundred shots. I know these numbers can be shocking but it's nice you use your platform to share the truth. Hope I can see one of those prints myself!
Thank you for taking us behind the scenes and showing us the entire sequence of shots.
Thank you for sharing that you are human too! Always making everything look so easy, very humanizing and humble to share your mishaps.
Thank you for doing this type of video Jared, for those of us that are creatives but not photographers and therefore not as interested in gear videos, these behind the scenes and critiques are the most interesting stuff on the channel.
Would love to know your reasons for the amount of contrast. I like it on some but sometimes it’s too much.
The fist pump photo is an example of perfect editing to me. Thanks FRO! I’d love a print
Yes, that filter pretty much destroyed the photos.
Always enjoy your videos of this nature, where you show the good and the bad. That honesty is missing in other videos. I'll take a print. Thanks
Massive fan of your work, Jared! I would definitely love a print. Much love & respect.
It is amazing seeing you taking photos from Messi, I have been following you about 8 years ago, and Messi about the same time and now both are together. yes I want a print :)
very glad you showed part of the culling process.
Love the behind the scenes and showing how much work goes into capturing just a few keepers.
I would love a print just because I love the story and your realism of what you got and what you didn’t. Reminds me with my photography to just get out there and keep trying. You never know what you might get, but it will never happen sitting at home.
Love to see these type of videos explaining the process.
I love the movement in the photo, the colors are beautiful. I’d love to see this hanging above my desk to remind myself to keep working hard! Awesome photos!
Hey Fro! If you take photos of the keeper, then every shot is a keeper!
you will look back on these photos in a few years and be so amazed that you got to photograph the GOAT. love the shots. Just realised its a competition for a print. One of him shooting would be mega !!
Your committment to always use the full picture, without cropping, is what makes you apart from the rest. And it is the best lesson you gave to me in all these years, commit to your choices, commit to that focal lenght and take what it gives without thinking you can make it work later in the process.
It would have been way easier to just shoot wider and frame the composition in post but it takes away so much of the magic of photography, your approach is unvaluable.
I love watching these videos that go into your process and approach to shooting, culling and editing your best shots. It’s a great reminder that one of the most important tools in any photographer’s toolbox is a strong plan or vision for what finished shot you’re looking for or story you want to tell. Intent is so important.
"I want a print", great video! Keepers are keepers, plain and simple. May not be what you were hoping for, but something is better than nothing. Hugh fan! Looking forward to what you put out next.
I’ve started getting into photographing sports. It’s so much more fun than doing family portraits or other types of photography in my opinion. Tracking a player and trying to get action shots is a lot of fun! Keep up the good work and showing us the behind the scenes stuff at these pro events!
I want a free print!
Thank you very much for sharing Pro Level photos with GOAT of footbal 😍
Always a delight to watch and pick up couple of pointers from ur content. All the best.
Love the crop of the 400mm f/2.8. I appreciate the insights into the long lens.
Great work showing the BTS and everything that goes into creating a final product. I’m a huge fan of Messi and would love to have a photo of Messi taken by a such a talented photographer as yourself. Thank you 🙏🏽
Always fun riding along with Jared to these events. Never hurts leaning from others.
Been doing photography for 10 years, professionally for 4 years and I thank Jared and all his tutorials for everything I’ve learned, would love to have this Messi print!
Thank you for your talk in the Javitz. You are awesome!
Enjoyed the video! One thing that I like about your channel is that you actually show your work! Great job!! Unfortunately, I bought FroPak 3 a day before Pak 4 went live LOL!!! I'll get it soon.
found you during 2020 and have been loving your content. I now try to fill the frame so I don't have to crop later. have a good one Fro!
This so great for teaching photography. I will use this for a lesson on selecting the best photos and definitely for editing photos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and please keep doing it.
I like the Messi knee-kon crotch shot beat! Thanks for all the advice. I share your videos like this with my staff to help improve their skills and encourage them when they are covering sporting events 🤘🏽
Yes, please, more stuff like this, pretty please with sugar on top. It’s hard when you miss what you think was going to be “THE SHOT” so this video means a lot. Mistakes can happen, errors can happen, bad luck can happen but must keep looking for the shot. Thanks for your honesty, Jared!
Amazing job! I have been watching as long as I have had a DSLR. ThanX for all the background info!
Great video Jared! Love the live look in of the game and the honestly of the shots you liked and shot you missed.
Love it! As an Argentinian living in the US and watching your videos for years I would love a Messi print! ❤
Thanks for the content Fro!! you was the first youtuber I follow when I got my first camera.
Jared - Just wanted to thank you for sharing your powerful and personal “photo story” with us at the B&H Bild Expo yesterday. It was truly inspiring to witness. I went through a similar experience with my dad, so it helped me to know that I wasn’t the only one who used their camera as a shield, yet still had to keep shooting and documenting because it’s all I know how to do. I very much appreciated your time then, and all you do here. Have a good day.
Always appreciate these kinds of videos from you Jared 🙂 I would love to have one of your prints for my home 🥹
I appreciate you showing the great along with the not so great. I have to stop looking at photos-taken vs photos-kept as some sort of score that defines me as a photographer. That comparison only leads to sadness.
Nice video. Good to follow you on the job and see the result, and follow your thoughts with the pictures afterwards.😊
Thanks for sharing this experience. I would love a print. I am looking forward to downloading the files. Cheers mate.
Love the photos and the transparency about what went right and wrong! Keep up the good work Jared !
Thank you for sharing this blog! I appreciate your willingness to share these experiences…….I would like a print…..
Been waiting for this ever since you posted the photo.
Hell Jared, been following you for years! Love your stuff and the fact that you’ve educated and given me the opportunity to laugh with all your content over this time. I recently started shooting for my son’s soccer club and I’m definitely learning along this journey. More importantly my son is a huge Messi fan and would love to hang this print in his room 🤞🏻
These photos are sick. Bummer about the Messi shots outta frame, but at the end of the day you were there and you have those images in your mind from now to eternity. #rightPlaceRightTime
Wow... what a great set of photos... of course i would love to have a print!
You are so honest that’s why I love your videos, I would love a print
It would be great to have one of your prints for my elementary classroom, Jared. Thanks for sharing your images as well. All my best!
For soccer 300mm with a 45mp sensor configurated button for FF and APS-C shift is crucial! Also you must get to know each player possible goal celebration style
Really enjoyed this video! The Canon R3’s tracking is truly out of this world! Great pics!
Focusing on 1 player seems like such an easier job! Would love that print out!!
I appreciate you showing the good and the bad of sports photography.
This is some great insight into the process of picking the keepers and it shows how many photos you might need to take to only get a few great shots. I appreciate all of your videos covering different photography topics!
so nice that you show the non-keepers, this will help amateurs getting better at photography!🤝🏽
What a fantastic opportunity to shoot the GOAT of Football/soccer. Being from NZ I don't think ill ever get the chance. I love the sports photo blogs, seeing the real life struggle with lighting and timing with the live game. please give us more of this. I personally love photographing football, so much action and drama. thanks for the content. Id love a print of the GOAT done by you.
After an epic fail last week, this video reminded me that we are all human. Thank you for the great content as always!!
Biggest fear to miss a shot like that. But love the photo of the windup to the jump celebration
As someone who used to be so continuously frustrated by seeing how other photographers made virtually 'no mistakes' when I was starting out, It's so cool to see someone who taught me half of what I know show us that it's a regular thing, not just a hump that only good photographers can get over. A print would be so cool; I've been trying to find photos to fill up and to have photos made by the people who shaped my passion for photography, not just random ones found at a store, stuff that has real sentimental value. Thanks Jared for all the times you've inspired me and so many other people; keep doing what you're doing
I WANT A PRINT. You should definitely do more videos like this. I loved watching how it was photographing there.
I can totally understand the missing photo. I have had that several times for me. I have also lost a great rugby touch due to player in the foreground. I would love to print.
it will be great to get one of those prints.....not just for the prints but, for the fro.....✌
Yeah genuinely thank you for sharing that you went for it and missed it. I mean i imagine most people would have scrapped it and not mentioned it. Still got plenty of other great shots though!
Thank You for this video. I am from Argentina and I would love to have one of those amazing pictures of yours! ❤🇦🇷
Just picked up the canon R6 mkii and I'm loving it so much upgrading from the canon 70D!
You are my photo sensei and your photos are amazing! I would love a Messi photo that you took. Thank you Master Polin 😊
Had the same "night noise" last night with HS Football. Wish I had the same creamy background though. Really makes the players stand out. Would love a print.
Great shots! My kids play soccer for rec leagues and I purchased the Canon EOS Rebel T7 earlier this year to capture them playing and I love it for not being a professional. I’m also glad to know that out of all the photos you took, you only had a few you really liked!
Thanks for sharing this video and your misses. You know all too well that sometimes a fixed focal length will burn you, but you had the 2.8 which helped with that bad lighting. Also, thanks from one Flickr user for posting them there. It is nice to see you post there from time to time, even though the platform is mostly dead as a social platform.
Dude that was an amazing moment to have witnessed live even if he jumped out the frame for that instance! Would love to have a print of him regardless of which one as the kick or the fist pump half body look great!
Watching your BTSs is the best thing 😍🫶🏻
Thanks for the honesty. 😊
I got started doing concert photography because of your videos, I came across one one day and thought, that looks awesome I wanna try that!!!
I want a print!!!
I want a print cause i love your work and how honest you are with us and show you make mistakes just like everyone else.
This was awesome. Always wondered what it would be like to photograph a legend such as Messi…. I’d probably be sweating from the nervousness. Kick ass as always!
It is just a human like every other. And there are already millions of photos of him. So it would not be the end of the world if your photos do not turn out well. Americans are really crazy for famous people. Even for useless people like the Kardashians.
Always enjoy the honesty of your videos. Good pics by the way!
Wow I watched that game and I didn’t notice you. Thank you for sharing the Leo’s photos.
Awesome
I would love to have a print. I'm always amazed at how little I yeald once I start picking ones to edit when I'm doing non landscape stuff
Quiero una foto!!!!!! Aguante Messi!!!! It's awesome you had the chance to be there and shoot :)
It is so amazing you are giving away the digital images for free!
I would be super pumped to have this hanging in my house.
My son has been playing soccer for a while now and was losing his mind with excitement about Messi being signed to a MLS team and would completely geek out over this!
Used a Nikon :-) Fair play to you for sharing your pain. Full time football photographers will know how players celebrate a goal and anticipate the shot. I want a print please.
Love these shots, I have the perfect spot in my living room to hang up one of them prints! Love from Italy buddy, been following your content for years
Thank you very much, the translation into Spanish has some problems and inconsistencies but it is still quite understandable so congratulations. The problem with the framing when Messi jumps must be the eternal dilemma between a fixed focal length and a zoom, especially if the lighting is as bad as you showed it, with a zoom it would have been even more problematic.
Its very interesting to hear your "rate", and it sounds sorta similar to mine although for a different field (airshow, wildlife, and actually also landscapes when i go hiking, you know, it always looks different the next bend over). About 1/10 come into the close circle and about another 1/10 of those actually get edited, and i preselect about half to 1/3 of them for my main keepers (just how it turns out). I cant tell if those are "the best" technically, i just lack the skill, but its the one i like the most and since i only do that for me in most cases, thats fine.
Love your work Jared. Would love to throw my hat in for a print.
Keep up the great work, love the videos, photos and podcasts.
My daughter once met Messi back in Guatemala, unfortunately do to security and the national team's policies (also this was back in 2013) we did not snap a single picture of them. Ever since she's been a huge fan of Messi and Argentina and I know this would make her year! I WANT A PRINT!!!
Loves the video, totally different perspective of the game!
