waiting for you to say that you bought a Mamiya 7.
Hahaha. I just did that too
@@revaaronit’ll come
@@kleanish I almost bought one last month, but I already have too many medium format cameras: Contax 645, rz67, fuji g690blp, Mamiya 645afd, Rolleichord (1951), and Moskva-5.
Bro I appreciate all the love you’re as inspirational as everyone you mentioned . Much love gang

yayy !! its our boi vuhlandes !! 😎
TAPPED IN
You are the goat bro you deserve that
You’re definitely one of my favorite bro 🔥🤙🏼
NO WAY. Jason Kummerfeldt was on my little league baseball team and highschool film class in the small town of Novato. Haven’t heard of him since 15 years ago. Glad to know he made it!
no way, will(fan of u since 2017!!!) knows my fave photographer
Novato, CA ???
For stories like that is why I pay the Internet.
Awesome dude.
can @grainydays pls confirm this PLEASE
Thank you so much man! ❤️❤️ loved watching this one. So many talented people including yourself
🐐
game recognises game
I got clickbaited by Casey 😅
This is a joke. The GOAT (film) photographers are not on RUclips, you can see their works at museums, galleries, photo agencies, cover magazines and photobooks.
You do realize that the term GOAT is subjective right? Just because someone can have an image published or shared in a gallery doesn’t take away from the fact that others who don’t can still produce amazing work
Peter shouting out 50 shades of Jason is my new favorite cross-over episode
i wanna see what jason says about it :) he’s so funny. love the dude.
Jason is my spirit animal
Let's be real. Peter only gave Jason the shout because of Baxter.
@@JE47556100% agreed
Imagine Peter on Jason’s interview videos 😂😂
In a world ravaged by narcissism, it's so refreshing that Peter unlike other RUclipsrs would take time and invest so much effort to promote other photographers.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
he's still very much a narcissist
@@AndyS52How?
He still can’t win though can he. People rabbiting on about “underrepresented female photographers” you like what you like. Who gives a shit whether they are female or not
Great photographers. Thanks for sharing them with us.
But seriously? One (1!) woman?!!!
I think it’s a shame that some comments have been deleted. Maybe this video would of been better titled “people who inspired me to start film photography “. Rather than here’s some bros and a token woman. This massively under represents the huge amount of female photographers
Absolutely no comments have been deleted from this comment section. Whatsoever
I wish there were more female photographers on this list
Exactly what I thought 💛 as cool as the photographers are feel could have been better balanced
Why don’t you share some of your favourite female film photographers here then? ☺️
Graincheck. she’s awesome.
I was thinking how nice it was his list included at least one woman. Women follow Peter as well, so it’s nice we have one of our own in his list lol. When I first followed female photographers, I had to really search them out. I had noticed the people I was following were all male, which was not intentional as I look at the work people do.
@@itsgracekeeley
thanks for the love, I've got some more flaming hot mountain dew if you want to join the cause
keep fighting for all of us Jason 🔥
Great that you made this video, but only one woman was mentioned? This video was bought to my attention by quite a few photographers, as I often feel under-represented and overlooked by men in the photography community.
Many of which have had their comments deleted 👀
@@ashleetough that's not even surprising. Thing is, this is just engagement for this guy as well. More views, more clicks. Calling it now, if the deleted comments are because he wanted to act like he "discovered" these other women in a later video, then that says it all. Be a joke if he does an apology video too.
Hey Ashlee - not a single comment has been deleted regarding anything from this comment section. Not sure where you're getting your info - But I can assure you, nothing has been removed. @@ashleetough
So was it the RUclips fairy that did it then? Because I can literally search every comment and I can’t find the few that are missing 🤔@@PeterMcKinnon
Unless profane words that are blocked were used, nothing has been deleted by me. 🤷🏻♂️
Vuh & Sam 🐐 They're my guys & also, perfection! This was a good switch up, you nailed it. I appreciate when creators mention their inspirations! 🔥
Oh good, a list of male photographers plus one token female. Great thorough research here.
I see a Peter McKinnon video, I click on it and like 🎉
Me too. ❤
Thank Pete, can you make a video featuring female film photographers?
The thumbnail?
I really enjoyed this - such talent out there - there must be so much anxiety waiting to get these developed. The only thing is... and I know this won't be intentional but are there no women/female film shooters - perhaps I missed it? Could you do another video about women film shooters...
Ok... all these folks work is great but you missed ALOOOOOOOOOT of goats here... This is based on instagram followers and all that bull crap. Look deeper and you'll be surprised!
This is a joke man..I wonder, will people ever stop praising mediocrity? They are just the new Instagram personalities of the moment. Calling them the greatest of all time is quite laughable; they aren't even the greatest of their era, let alone of all time...
Female film photographers were noticeably underrepresented, so here's a few that I admire: Jade Stephens (hej.jade), Ashtyn Liska (ashtyn.liska), Sissi Lu (sissi_lu), micheleonfilm, Molly Fletcher (mollyfletchr), bynicolemejia, and Coraline Mattice (coraline.mattice)
I noticed that as well and was disappointed by that. There are so many awesome female film photogs out there.
I thought the same.
Lucy Lumen is another GOAT
@@AtomicBeaver93 Yes! Absolutely!
You guys make it sound like it was intentionally done. He just happened to gravitate to these people’s work. If you’ve followed Peter long enough, he doesn’t care who takes the photo, but only their process, their passion, and the true art behind it.
A boy, a girl, a trans, a gay, however they identify. It doesn’t matter to Peter. He merely appreciates art, regardless of who takes it and maybe he just happened to gravitate to these people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Film photography isn’t about flexing on people and leaving expensive film out in the elements. Quit the gimmicks, and focus on the craft. This cringe has gotta stop.
+ 1 Vuhlandes dude is one of the best on RUclips, and he inspired me months ago to get into film.
One person left off this list that I feel should of been on it. Mike Gray. Incredible film work, and he’s literally 2-3 years into it.
Ayeee Vuhlandes getting his flowers 💐 love to see it!
Grainydays aka 50 shades of Jason is top tier film photographer and RUclips creator, the videos are epic! Him and BadFlashes are the dynamic duo!!
I worked in photography (fashion and stock in NY) from like 1989 to 2003..... I left just as the switch to digital was occurring. The part of this that cracks me up is we would NEVER shoot Kodak Gold. It was desperate, last option, only film you could find.... It's nice to see people shooting film again.
Epic list excited to check them out, would have loved to see more women represented!
My thoughts exactly! Lots of faves on here, but as always not a whole lot of ladies. If you never quite feel included as a women, you’re not alone lol
Yeah, where are the women?
@@naabiaromain3917 appreciate you replying 👍💛
Great video with some new inspiring film photographers I didn't know yet. Definitely going to check them out! But I would have loved to see more women represented as well. Here are a few female film (and digital) photographers worth following: Amelia Le Brun (@amslebrun), Jade Stephens (@hej.jade), Christie Fitzpatrick (@gnarstie), Alice Greenfield (@shot_by_alice) & Ashtyn Liska (ashtyn.liska).
Thanks so much for the love, brother. Honored to have been able to provide a little bit of inspiration and information to someone who has provided so much for so many of us. Always happy to help. Oregon awaits you!
You truly do great work! Your videos are informative and entertaining. Good luck in the new home studio and looking forward to new content!
I am pretty dissapointed in the lack of women included in this. Good list, but there are so many great female film photographers.
You can make a video then
Why did you put Casey Neistat on the thumbnail ?
a good list, but not even 1 woman? Bro, its 2023! wideangle your views a bit.
Nick Carver, Ben Horne. These are the guys..
I know it’s the downside to social media, but I wish you gave shoutouts to people with smaller followings. all these photogs deff deserve even more success, but they all are already successful. and ya know, more not white dudes
appreciate you man!❤ keep going xx🎞️
I'd have to believe that you came across a guys video who was bashing your presence in the film photography space here on RUclips... hahaha I'm not naming him or pointing anyone in his direction because he doesn't deserve the attention but if you didn't see it... well then this video was the perfect piece of karma! People hate for any reason these days! FTR you were one of the major inspirations for me to pick up a camera again after a few years long hiatus!!!
Love this! And love that you're always putting the spotlight on other creatives. Such amazing photography. Also amazing that there was only 1 female photographer... I'm sure there are plenty out there who are worthy of making the list.
I was commenting the exact same thing too. There are so many great female film photographers out there but somehow only 1 made the cut.
Using a shot of Casey Neistat and then no reference to him just to get people to click on your upload. So sad.
thank you very much for these very inspiring links,
without any reproach but,
there is one a single Lady photographer on this list.
Could you mention one or two, please.
Hey! Maybe next time, expand your horizons Peter and check out some Female/non-binary photographers. That list was widely under representative of photographers who are not male.
Shame there aren’t more female photographers mentioned in the video.. some equally talented ones out there!
True
They are also all from the USA and take the same photos. This lad calling it a film journey made me nearly puke.
I love all of those photographers / creators ! Great video truly. Would love to see more representtion from diffrent genders of film photogrpahers. There are so many out there.
I’m sure Jason wished it was a code red. It was a flamin hot Mountain Dew a day 🤣
Not sure this was intended , but why no women photographers. Just wondering
You might like a Canadian photographer named Christine Fitzgerald. Years ago on Canada's 150th - I discovered her work when I applied to join a ship journey (came close, but missed the final cut) - her work is mind-blowing and I honestly think it will amaze you.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any obsession with new photographic methods caused when/if you see this work. It's pretty "next-level" photography and it's analog at it's apex (imho). If you start getting into this - it's not my fault.
I guess not many women do photography
Apparently not :(
Good to see some analog shooters getting love, but come on… where are the women?? 1/10 hardly representative
Watching all these people shooting film is like all these people walking around with wired headphones. 🤦🏻♂
Maybe next time you can be a little more inclusive and include some woman film photographers. There are soooooo many.
I’ve noticed that you didn’t feature any woman, so I wondered: “impossible, he must have overlooked someone”. I have to admit, I am struggling to find pure analog women photographers on Instagram that have comparable commitment to film like the featured photographers in this vid. Why do you think that is?
They are there, including myself. I could pull up so many women from that are dedicated to film. If I can take the time to find them then so can everyone else. @ladyist @peggyshootsfilm @faustinemartin_ @angiecouple @jackieleeyoung @misscinematica @jazzandtheblues @filthymouthcreative @girlwithtoomanycameras @filmwavecherry
@@ashleetough subscribed!
Also RUclips wise Lucy Lumen, Graincheck, T.Hopper, Kate Hook and Sophia Carey. There’s also been a few male photographers who have dedicated time to create videos to showcase women if you have a little search. @@hypertexter
Jason is just art, sarcastic, sad, and an amazing photographer.
Someone learned NOTHING from his earlier apology video, apparently...
Willem, Vuhlandes, and Grainy Days are the 3 that got me into photography in the first place.
Cody and Jason are both awesome! Glad to see them getting shoutouts
This list is comical. Smh a bunch of subpar photographers who just have a decent following. Nah
agree.
My face when Peter opened that fridge full of film! What a thing of beauty.... Wish I had enough film in stock to justify giving it a private fridge! lol
Loved your work always, but sorry to say this , there can’t be G.O.A.T.S ! There can only be 1, GOAT . “Greatest “ of al…… !
Why is Casey your thumb nail?
Some pure talent here thanks for sharing dude!
Lots of dudes in here. One female photographer?!? Come on, we can do better than that.
100% agree! Could have been a lot better balanced!
not only he did not mention any female photographer, but they are just the new Instagram personalities of the moment. Nothing more. They all shoot in the same way and lack a hint of originality - they are just analogue kids. Calling them the greatest of all time is quite laughable; they aren't even the greatest of their era, let alone of all time. How sad.
Glad these guys are getting some well deserved recognition. I know Joe & Willem both have photo books out, definitely the best way to consume their work if you can get your hands on them!
Why is the thumbnail Casey tho if you didn’t even mention him???
Would love to see you feature photographers that aren’t already big
Love the video, but why is Casey in the thumbnail?
Why is Casey on the thumbnail?
I was expecting Nick Carver, Matt Day and William Sheepskin. But good list anyway.
William’s videos are simply just in a league of their own
Does Neistat even do photography?
All these guys are so talented, this is a new era for photography. But when you mentioned the GOATS and I thought you would be talking about Steve McCurry, Sebastiao Salgado, Garry Winogrand, Vivian Mayer etc etc.
No lie I Clicked on this video because I Seen Casey lol i thought yall did another collab together lmao
Great video as always Pete.. But I'm.. Uhh.. confused!! 😕 I didn't know Casey shot stills, let alone film. (no disrespect Casey 😃) But why was he the thumbnail if he didn't make the list?!! Im just saying!! 🤣
Wait, you’re coming to Oregon you know I live in Newport
I see a Casey Neistat video, i cli….. wait…
Why is there not enough shoutouts to female film photographers? There are so many G.O.A.T female film photographers out there. I get that this industry is male dominated but female film photographers deserve to be applaud too.
This isn’t a definitive list is it. Just a few friendly shout outs.
@@matthart2499 nobody said definitive list and we appreciate all the friendly shoutouts but it was more of a question of why only shoutout 1 female film photographer?
So are we going to go get a horse and buggy instead of riding in a car because we want to be cool and retro....lol I'm sorry I don't want to hate but as someone that shot on film for the first 10 years of my career and grew up with a film camera as our main camera (Nikon FM2...still own it) I really think shooting film is so unnecessary. I do feel tempted to shoot a roll of black and white just for fun once in a while and it its for fun thats cool, but to say that these "FILM PHOTOGRAPHERS" are GOATS is silly, they still had to get these rolls of film scanned and digitized and then edited on a computer before they were posted to their instagram account.....come on. GOATS? GOATS on what? Composition? Lighting? Dedication to the gimmick? Photography these days is more about how you market yourself and likability. But I will say kudos for shouting out these guys so that they can get some exposure. I love you Peter and I am a fan of your channel, hope I'm not coming across as a hater. Just wanted to express my opinion.
Why the casey thumbnail though? Feels misleading
I'm here for VIDEO but this one makes me want to start SHOOTING PHOTOS man! AMPED!
On a completely different note: what phone is Peter using in this video? iPhone Pro or Pro Max?
Something he will probably replace when Apple unveils a new product
as someone who first started on digital 8 years ago and always watched your videos and then completely switched over to film in 2018 and have gotten to know the amazing film photography community of youtube, this is amazing.
I suppose I’ll ask the obvious …no one else has LOL ….what’s the Casey Neistat thumbnail reference ?….is there something I’m missing …
Something about film permits snap photography more. I love the style of snap photography but something about the age and techniques of film gives it validity.
Images like you were mentioning with the pool stairs being the subject I love it. I'll continue to do it with my Ricoh GR III for now, but man I think film elevates the genre.
Most film photographers I’ve seen aren’t a fan of Peter shooting film.
Why Casey on thumbnail?
So sick, I love that you are uplifting other photographers
Old film guy here, did hundreds of weddings back in the 80's and early 90's, lived in Denver so had to mix wedding and landscape photography on many of the weddings I shot. Knowing your film type is key, I used Vericolor 120 (over exposed 1/2 stop) so mastering a film type is (I think) super important in Film Photography. Believe me being a film guy helped me so much when I started shooting digital. Nice video !!
One guy I've been following for so long who absolutely nails it is Trout and Coffee, he goes by kyle but just nails that nostalgic seasonal setting so insanely well. definitely worth a look
Grainy Days (50 shades of jason) shout out!
Kodak Gold was the standard when I started seriously becoming a photog in 1978. 200, 400, 800 and 1200 (when shooting long range action or sports.) I had 100s of rolls of 200 & 400 - 24exp. film in my bag at any one time. I had a dedicated film bag because I shot so much.
Some rolls took weeks or months to shoot, unless it was for a client shoot. You shot with purpose because you didn’t have $$ to just shoot willy-nilly. And you didn’t have the option of deleting photos that didn’t turn out quite right like with digital.
Film Photogs were true artists, unlike digital creators. We didn’t have editing software to correct mistakes.
You have to have Jason in there. That's what I'm talking about
There has been people that said Peter might be killing film but it seems like this is a really positive impact on photography as a whole (except for ebay prices ;-;). Idk film ytbers are underated and this is so nice to see thanks for supporting the film photography!
Film photographers crack me up. You can save thousands just shooting with your phone. 😂. 1st world problems for sure. Anything for views.
Something you said that has always stuck with me was - making sure to send the elevator back down. It's why so many people respect what you do, love to see it man. Great video!
Jason, Samual, and Vulandas made the list!
wheres Taylor from graincheck
Whathappened to Square Space Pete miss thay guy
I wonder why are they all mostly men?!
Putting Casey in the miniature was a sly sly move...
Do any other creatives in the comments struggle with deciding on a niche? I suffer from adult ADHD, and find it very hard to specialize in one thing for more than a few weeks subsequently I feel like I don’t make much progress and my image and vision for my “brand”?…is all over the place?! Its like every question I ask myself opens up a rabbit hole of more questions and insecurities..🥵
Why Casey Neistat in Thumbnail?
I miss film and being in dark rooms, although, yes, today is faster with better (advanced) tools.
Always a great day when you see a Peter McKinnon vid drop.
