The 1980's. The golden age of horror movies.
I like...
The Fly
An American Werewolf in London
The Thing
Nightmare on Elm Street
Child's Play
and The Shining
No “evil dead?” That’s not very groovy.
not horror but horraar
When I was a kid my aunt called me and my cousins "Children of the Corn" and I didn't understand the reference until I was older. Now I'm just concerned for her mind lol.
Funny. When I was in Middle School my nickname was Malakai because I loved horror films so much. Now, my son is 24. His name is Malakai. Pretty ironic how I planned that since a kid, huh?
I'm so glad 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' made it into this list. That movie introduced me to horror movies. I first watched it when I was far too young. It terrified me for years. So iconic.
That scene on the ceiling was insane!
Spot on selections. Basket Case, Videodrome, The Stuff, The Toxic Avenger! So good! Keep up the awesome videos.
Loved this list and so many of your picks on it. The 80s really is my horror jam, lol. I love that cheese! Jesus wept!
Thanks Amy🤘🏼🤘🏼

That is a damn good list my friend.
Society. Nice
Great list. I was so pleased to hear personal faves getting recognition: Basket Case, Possession, Tenebrae- Yes! Ditto, both Ken Russell films you mention. The king of provocative Psychedelic queasiness. I'm with you on Children Of The Corn. Really scared me when I first saw it. To be self indulgent, my top 3 `80's horrors are: Near Dark, The Beyond and Day Of The Dead. My two hidden gems are 'The Last Horror Film' and 'Night Of The Comet.
Thanks a lot!
Always waiting for your favs section.
The 80's list wait is OVER!👍
An American Werewolf in London is my favorite movie of all time, I’m so happy you mentioned it! I love your channel so much! I have been binging your videos, especially to learn about disturbing movies that I’m too scared to watch, haha.
What an outstanding list. You nailed it. I wouldn't have minded it a bit longer, with more of your commentary on each film.
'80s is my favorite decade. Halloween is my favorite holiday : )

I'm a very very depressed person. Diagnosed clinical depression. The last 3 years, I've had 3 out of 4 of my best friends die, my dog was killed by my wife when she (my wife) had a breakdown. I've had numerous health issues - most chronic. And guess what? Your videos make me smile. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I'm so glad I found your channel when I needed it most. I'm just writing this to let you know you're appreciated. Thank you.
I’m so sorry to hear this Alex ❤️ remember you are not alone and you are loved
@@spookyastronauts thank you, it means a lot. ❤️
If you ever feel like someone has it in for you just know your not alone. A dear friend of mine has lost her dad, brother, uncle, grandpa and dog within the past 2 years. All I can do is try to be a light for her in these hard times. ❤ spooky astronauts is a light for me. I share the love for all things spooky. It’s my perfect escape.
Yes!! Possession is one of my favourite films of all time, every time I watch it I get something different from it and see it in a new light. Isabelle Adjani’s performance in this movie has never been topped for me! Plus that shit is just straight up disturbingly beautiful and I love it so much, thank you for highlighting it!!
I'm so happy you mentioned Possession, it definitely deserves more recognition
So creepy eh !?
came here to say that. i love that movie.
Great video brings back good memories. Thank you
What a list ! Lovely !❤️
Evil Dead. That is a true gem.
Great list, a ton of great picks.
Tenebrae coverage was over in the blink of an eye! But so glad you mentioned it; love that film. Great list as always!
Great content! Thank you for this list!
So happy you mentioned The Thing, Basket Case, Evil Dead and Re Animator! Some iv never seen though… Pin, Videodrome and Lair of the White Worm… dang! Way to inspire! I gotta give The Howling my 1981 though!
Really enjoy and appreciate your vids! Keep up the good work. Cheers from Canada!
Your taste is amazing! So many of these are some of my favs as well.
Whoohooo, my decade. Thanks for doing this, Emma.
Love the list, Cool stuff and great to meet ya! Cheers
I literally saw every movie you listed in the 80’s, many in the theater when they were actually released. Well done on your list!
Great list Emma...I agree with all you said & I'll even throw up Poltergeist,Evil Dead 2,Dream Warriors,Phantasm 2,The Blob & Child's Play to complete mine.
I just discovered your channel and I’m so happy I did!! I’m in a big horror movie vibe since the beginning of the quarantine! I can’t wait to get started in all these awesome films you suggested on all these lists !!
Fair play to you spookyastronauts every pick you done hit the spot 👌🏼
I was chanting "Possession" in my head - and you mentioned it! It's been years since I've seen it, but it definitely left a mark. And The Thing is incredible. Great list, not triggered, thanks!
One of my favorites from 1988 was Wes Craven’s “The Serpent and the Rainbow” - it was a really good list you had - a few I hadn’t seen that I’ve saved on my Roku for later! Thanks!
sooooo much appreciate ur regular uploads...really helps to get me going through this weird times..loved all your recent videos and unique movie suggestions!!
Thank you so much
Your list is awesome ❤
Some damn good movies here. Personally I would have added Maniac, Motel Hell, The Lost Boys and the 88 Blob remake but I so glad you added Killer Klowns. I actually saw it at the cinemas in 1988. Yes, Im old.
👍
Me too. In the 70' &80s I lived at the cinema & drive-ins Seemed like a new horror movie appeared every week.
Motel He'll was just weird. Lol
Love this series! Great video Emma!!
Thank you!
Thank you SO MUCH for talking about Pin. I adore that movie, and it never gets mentioned on any channel or blog, ad that's really sad. Pin is amazing.
Great selection of horror movies there
Keep up the awesome work
"Re-Animator" is a movie I saw at the exact right moment in my life. LOVE IT. And "Killer Klowns from Outer Space" is just a delight.
Good choices - so many of my favourites in there.
You are literally hitting me with all of the best possible videos. Like I am shook right now.
Hahaha thanks
Children of the Corn freaked me out for years when I was young! I really still love it! Thanks for mentioning this underappreciated film!
Great list! Actually a few underrated gems on here I haven't seen and plan on seeing soon.
Terrific list! I grew up in the 80s, so I'm impressed by most of your choices. I agreed with 7 of your top 10!
great list, loved the 80s horror flix. And agree with you about Children of the corn.
Great list, Em!!
Thank you!! 😁
These list vids are awesome 👏👏👏
Thanks Scott x
Most of the films you mentioned I have seen, though I have never heard of "Pin". Another title for the to see list.😉 Just to list a few other favorites of mine: Friday The 13th (1980), Final Exam (1981), My Bloody Valentine (1981), April Fool's Day (1986), A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), Pumpkinhead (1988) and Deep Star Six (1988). My all-time favorite film of the 1980's is The Untouchables (1987).
If you search "Pin 1988" here on RUclips, there's a good copy. You should def check it out asap! It has Terry O'Quinn from The Stepfather in it.
April fools day!
Awesome list! Completely agree about The Shining (and the recent sequel, Dr Sleep, that also rocked!)
I definitely agree with more of your picks from the 80's rather than the 90's ones. You got some pretty greats on here! :)
I LOVE these videos.
Great list!
All the classics of the 80s.
Lair of the white worm gave me nightmares as a child... and back then i only saw the cover of the movie at an uncles house 🙈
Great list Emma and I must I love your accent.
love the video, great list thank you
Thanks for watching David
Children of the Corn is my favorite horror film of the 80's and one of my favs of all time. Glad to see it on your list.
G'day Emma. I've just discovered your channel and am loving your content. You've earned yourself a subscriber. I chose to comment on this video specifically because I was a kid in the 80s and these films, as well as many others, resonate strongest with me. So many great horror flicks in the 80s although there are a couple in your list that I absolutely despise (The Shining, Children Of The Corn). Over all a pretty solid list. One great Aussie horror flick I'd add to this list from 1984 is Razorback. Be sure to watch the uncut version as the cut version removes most of the gore.
Thanks for these videos really appreciate it during a lockdown
kieser 78 I so agree. She’s awesome.
Thank you so much!
great list emma, i love are lost boys, maniac, fright night, child's play, and another vampire movie i like is near dark and so many other movies, you mention all the rest so it no point me mentioning them
Just found your channel a few days ago and I've been binge watching, its fantastic! Love these decade reviews, any chance you'll do one for the 70s?? :-)
You have great taste in films :) it's nice to see Children of the corn getting some love too such an underrated film
Just came across this channel as this post randomly came up on my feed. Had to follow as I loved this list. I’ll have to look through your posts but to save time, two greats from the 80s which I’m sure you’ve seen but just in case, are Pumpkinhead and C.H.U.D.! Also, I have an original Blade doll from Puppet Master.
So many great picks on this list! As a child of this decade, 80's horror is extremely nostalgic for me, and my favorite decade of horror.
Amazing list of 80s horror movies👍 lots of hidden gems 💎 here
also, so cool to see Altered States included on your list. that's a gem that has been kinda ignored in the last decade or so.
Didn't see that coming. You picked Altered States as one of your underrated gems! How cool is that! I largely agree with your picks for the 80s. Such a fun decade for movies with the rise of video stores. There are quite a few favorites that I rented in those days that never got released in cinemas but I could watch on tape, like Turkey Shoot and Self Defense (released as Night Warriors, here in the Netherlands). Another trippy favorite of mine is Wes Craven's The Serpent and The Rainbow.
Oh thats awesome, glad you like Altered States too!
Lots of great tips!! Thank you!
Thank you!
Nice video I wil check out the others well done 🇬🇧
surprised with how much I can relate to your picks
Seen all but one. Very good list.
yes, i love these! can't wait to see the best of 70s!
Ekk! I'm not sure about that one yet!
Are you going to do a 70s list? By the way your videos are always awesome, kudos. ✌
As soon as you said Killer Klowns from Outer Space was one of your faves, I knew I had to subscribe haha. :D I already love your channel and I'm gonna binge watch your vids!
excellent list darling,
wish you added some other films in the end like
Society, Nightmare on elm street 3, Halloween 3 etc
I LOVE your taste in movies!
Thank you!
My personal favorites:
1980- Terror train
1981- Scanners
1982- Pieces
1983- Curtains
1984- Rats: Night of terror
1985- Cat's eye
1986- Slaughter high
1987- Return to horror high
1988- Slugs
1989- The terror within
Pieces is a masterpiece, Brother!
I love the lighting and the score.
Terror Train, and Slaughter High are great as well!
Really enjoyed your list, so good to see Bad Taste in there. Two of my favourites from the 80’s are Monster (Humanoids from the Deep) 1980 and The Howling 1981.
Thank you so much!
I love this list. 👏👏👏
Thank you Shaun!
I have been watching your channel for quite a while because I am also a big horror fan!!! I like how you’re completely honest about what you like and don’t like and you don’t care what other people think. I have been watching horror movies as long as I could remember, my Mom was really into them and we would always watch them together. I hope you are able to figure out what movie I was talking about in my previous comment!!
Yey 80s! I'd definitely add Intruder in here but omg, so many great movies mentioned here 😊🔥
Thanks Vanessa
Love watching, your videos, new subscriber here, can you make a playlist with all your recommendation videos, found some great gems :):)
I watched The Stuff with Sandy Petersen doing commentary. It was hilarious. Great list Emma!
Great list Emma . Haven’t seen Tenebre or possession ( on my must see list ) . An American werewolf in London , the shining and the Thing , the evil Dead ( and the remake ) are on my all time fave horror films list .
I think of "Altered States" as more of a science fiction movie than a horror one, but very glad to see some love for it. It is in danger of being forgotten, I think.
Night of the Creeps and Killer Klowns, YESSSSS
Kudos for a solid list. Was pleasantly surprised to see Pin on there! "Society" from 1989 was a glaring omission though
Society is great
Cool list, new subscriber to the channel, keep up the good work
Thank you!
I'm proud to know that I've seen all those movies. Actually there's only three I need to see, it's Altered States, Pin and The Lair of the White Worm They're already on my list though. Great list, Emma. The Thing and Possession and Shining are three of the movies of my life and Freddy Krueger is my favorite killer, the second one is Michael Myers. Anyway, I'll try to watch those three I haven't seen yet this weekend, starting tonight. Thanks for the great list!
EXCELLENT CHOICES, Luv ! NOT ONE BAD PICK ! CONGRATULATIONS on Your List !
love Love LOve LOVe LOVE this list!
Cool list. All great fims. I have seen all of them, but Tenebrae, Basket Case, Pin and The Lair of the White Worm need to be revisited soon.
'Night of the Creeps' - YES!!!
I'm always happy when this movie gets a shout-out.
Thank you for your fun video!
"Video"...how 80's IS THAT!
I love your list. I have a few of these movies on dvd. I love 80s horror. I was in grade 1 in 1981 and grade 12 in 1992 so I grew up watching horror movies in the 80s. There is a few on your list that I have not see so I will definitely look for them. I'm so happy I subscribed to your channel. On lock down here in South Africa for 21 days. Today is day 10. I hope you and your family are safe over there. Thank you for your awesome videos.
Thank you so much Ivan, hope you are safe too!
I love your decade lists. My lists would be different, but these are really enjoyable. I would highly encourage you to keep going backwards to the dawn of movies. So much good stuff from the 70's. Exorcist, Omen.
Very good list.
Thanks Chloe
Hiya. So glad I stumbled across your channel, subbing right away!
Hi!!
Hidden gem from 1987 is American Gothic. That is about a couple that experience a terrible tragedy. Later on, their friends take them away for the weekend, trying to help them on their road to recovery. Their plane has engine trouble, and they have to land on an isolated island in the Pacific northwest. On that island, they find this house that belongs to an elderly couple, and their three adult children. The thing is, the children are in their forties and fifties, but, act like they are still adolescents. The movie gets much crazier from there on. That's all I'll say without spoiling.
I’ve seen this one! I thought I reviewed it but can’t find it
The biggest surprise for me was no mention of Christine.
🌵😻Greetings from Flagstaff Az! Love your list.😻🌵
Awesome list! I see you like body horror
Thanks @spookyastronauts
Thanks for watching
This was such a fun list, really enjoyed it! I was similar as a kid with Evil Dead, those possession scenes were terrifying! Nightmare for 1984 was obvious but I gotta agree I absolutely love Children of the Corn, as a kid Malachi used to actually scare the crap out of me 😅
