  • This video shows how simple and fun it is to change your impeller. Try doing every year or every 100h/150h. They're cheap and they make your inspect down there to see if everything is ok.
The sealant that they recommend for the bolts on the shaft is this one:
    Sealant 99000-31120 (SUZUKI Silicone Seal (50 g))
I never used it before so don't need to worry about it. But its something ill get for future use.
Always struggling to find out how to do things on my engines.
I like to do them myself, so I post it online so you guys have a quick and simple tutorial.
I am in no way a professional, I am just trying to help the average boater with simple tips. If you're not comfortable working on your engines, do search for professional help.
    Hope it helps.

Great video (the manual is so unclear for impeller replacement!) and the CUTEST assistant.

Thanks for this. I was having cooling water flow issues on my 2016 Suzuki 6hp o/b, just changed the impeller with no noticeable improvement. I feel steady pulse of air at the outflow hole, but that's it. No obstruction at the intake grate or the pipe from the water pump up to the head, so I suppose that means I have to crack the head (& cylinder?) and look for and clear obstruction somewhere in the casting? Any tips?

Hi Rick, you should show the rotation of the shaft and how the impeller should sit. But thank you for the tips.

Hi, nice video. By the way, what grease you use for the bolt and around the case? Do you need to put grease on the impeller?

      Hey Mate.
I use always use yamaha outboard grease. Special for sea water. Some grease there never hurts. I use grease everywhere I can.

@@RickysOutboardVideos thank you. Do you know if i can use marine grease 2-4-c with PTFE for the impeller instead?

What made you decide to change the impeller? Preventative maintenance or was it not peeing or something else?

Hi mate , hows it going? Nothing specific to be honest. When I got the service kit it came with the hole water pump system including the impeller. I think you're supposed to change every 200h the impeller. But it had been around 600h when i did the first time. But to be honest it was fine. But i like inspecting the shaft and surroundings once in a while and since it was out and i had spares i just did it all.
      Hope that helps.
      Regards
      Ricky

Hey mate, it might be the gearbox shaft bolt that might be over tight. The one outside in front of the power trim.

@@RickysOutboardVideos I have figured it out, I needed to pull up the the threaded smaller shaft to change the gear to neutral. Thank you
