- This is a Suzuki outboard tutorial on how replace the Zinc Anodes on my engines DF60A 2010 and 2012. Very important thing to do and inspect. I did replace at 600h but def recommend checking them every 200h. Depends where you ride you boat and it stays in a dock. But its fairly simple process. Enjoy!
Always struggling to find out how to do things on my engines.
I like to do them myself, so I post it online so you guys have a quick and simple tutorial.
I am in no way a professional, I am just trying to help the average boater with simple tips. If you're not comfortable working on your engines, do search for professional help.
Hope it helps. Развлечения
Thank you for not making us watch for 40 minutes. Great videos
No worries mate. Yeah, those long videos drive me mad 😆 cheers
Great video.....pretty simple and straightforward. I have about 300 hours on mine so I am anxious to see how they look. Thanks for sharing.
George Brady hey man, how's it? Yeah, 300h they should be fine. If you flush you engines after each use 👍
@@RickysOutboardVideos ...pulled the plugs iwth ease. I was surprised to see how much anode was gone. I carefully pulled out a lot of zinc from the lower hole, It was worse than the top one. We are in salt water so maybe that was the cause. I flush the engine for about 5 - 6 minutes after each use. will keep a closer eye on themnow. Thanks again.
@@georgebrady1060 Wow, thats great you checked then. I had mud in that mixture as well. As the water is quite murky from the rivers flowing down. Enjoy and stay safe.
Good video, thanks
thanks for this mate, have 300hr service coming up and i dont think i've changed mine will report back!
Hey man, hows it? Yeah man, share your story. I did 600h before replacing them. Def worth doing at 300h. At least to see how they are.
Hey Ricardo, surprinsly i checked my 2007 DF70 anode yesterday on the block and it was surprisingly clean. I do flush it regularly after every trip for 10mins. I have a question, in the Service kit (Part No: 17400-99860) it comes with one anode (55321-87J00
) + gasket (11265-87E10
), is there an INTERNAL block anode that is hard to reach? if so how do we change and what is the part number? I imagine your DF60 is similiar to my DF70. Thanks so much for your help, you've given me inspo to do all this by myself.
Ottimo video con spiegazioni molto dettagliate...Grazie dall'Italia
Grazie. Ciau
Nice job, thanks.
Cheers mate
Really good video. Very informative, thanks.
One question - I'm struggling to find the internal anodes on the Suzuki df50 from 2004. Any ideas?
I have 8, and one is hidden in the lower water pick up in the ''nose cone'' area of lower unit. I'm going to do a video when I change all mine on a 250
Have a brand new DF250 SS with 25 hours. I use it primarily in saltwater and flush thoroughly with fresh water using the flush port and muffs. I also use Salt Away intermittently. When should I do my first inspection?
Hey mate hows it? I would do one service now. Then start at the 100h interval. Just because when breaking the engine it releases metal bits the first few hours of use. Check with your local guy as well to see what he thinks. Cheers
I want another boat someday with a suzuki motor maybe a 24x7 boat with a 225 v6 4 stroke
Another question: how and when do we check/replace Thermostats? (Part: 17670-90J00
) and the gasket (17685-95560
). Can we simply just clean this if it's not too bad? and also do you generally keep parts in stock or order them as you need them for service intervals. Do parts have a shelf live say 1-2years?
hey Ricardo, i opened my thermostat cover today but unable to pull it out, any tips??
Hi Mate
Sorry took so long to reply.
Thats actually one job I never done. My Thermostats always worked fine. fingers crossed.
But it's def a common trouble to have.
Hope you sorted that out ok.
Cheers
Ricky
What’s the thing about chips on the engines
Can you tell me what size the screw is for the anodes I lost one
christian haas hi dude, how's it? Is it the screw for the protection anode cover or the one inside for the actual anode?
Outside is 8x20

Inside 6x14

Hope that helps
Cheers
What size bolt did you use to remove the anode
Hey mate, how's it going? Uff I don't know it by heart. But I think it's a 12/14mm. Hope that helps
Bolt for removal is 10x1.25mm
whats the function of anodes??
They prevent corrosion. They're the weak metal that the corrosion attacks first. Very important to have.
Thanks for not telling the whole history of Suzuki.
