Df90 lower unit I found leakage of Gear oil is there any type of O ring or mechanical cells
There are multiple seals,a couple at the prop shaft and where the drive shaft enters the lower unit
So I have a two-stroke Suzuki seven horse 97 and I’m trying to change the imp propeller and no one seems to know how to drop the bottom unit can you help me out?😢
All outboards are very similar, removing the lower unit should be easy.
Remove all bottom bolts and check for hidden ones under zinc or something like that.
After that its about removing impeller housing and replace the impeller.
Reassemble...Can't say much more,never seen a & HP.
Good luck sir !
You ever figure it out I got a 75 hp 97
My 90 has an extended mid section so it's 1 bolt with 4 studs/nuts. One bolt corroded so it was a nightmare for half an hour, but it finally came down.
Good for you that it finally came out.
Are you running in salt water ???
Don't forget to put marine grease or anti seize when putting it back together.
@@obscur156 I put some Tef-Gel on the studs and nuts. That stuff is excellent corrosion protection.
@@UberGringo Ok, taking note about TEF-GEL cause i don' know this product.
Are you using your motor in salt water ?
What year is your motor ?
@@obscur156 it's my customers. He's got a 2011 model that hasn't been used in a few years from what I heard. It had some hairy corrosion on the gear case studs so I'm guessing it is in salt water. We are on the Gulf, so there are not so many fresh water options.
@@UberGringo Ok ,thanks for your reply.
Make sense, salt water will do this.
I am in fresh water only here.
Regards.
Was this done while shifted in neutral?
Yes sir.
What about shift linkage shaft ? it looks like it stayed in place does it need to be disconnected on the top ?
No it stays in place, there are splines on the lower unit shift shaft.
@@obscur156 thanks any idea which way the impeller turns?
@@jameschristian1270 I don't remember, just check Wich way the impeller is bent.
That will tell you...
yeah men!!!!
What are torque specs for pump and lower unit bolts?
Water pump case bolts 12.5 ft lbs
Gear case bolt 40 ft lbs.
@@obscur156 thank you
@@johnfrazier9180 You are welcome
Where is the shift shaft ?,,What year is this?
This is a 2018 and the shift shaft stays in place up there...
I didn’t see you disconnect the linkage to the transmission. Was that done before you recorded?
No,no need to disconnect that, its splines like the big shaft !
@@obscur156 Thank you👍
