Now imagine if he had arms, he would literally be unbeatable
Well his stroke form would be illegal in a non-Paralympic meet because of the fly like movements, but he has adapted his form within the Olympic guidelines which is still phenomenal.

Swimming technique, he uses his feet to push himself and uses his body to moves upwards and downwards to swim even faster, physics have to do with this.
You probably actually for this event might have an advantage..... Less drag.
This is the most inspiring video I have ever seen. Zheng should be an inspiration to everyone. No matter what you're going through in life, you can achieve something if you commit.

7:01 No one helping him get out of the pool is a show of respect to physically challenged people.
Or it's just because he could easily get out with his two very powerful legs. Somebody helped him at the start, with towel in his teeth.
What makes you think hes physically challenged in this situation or needs assistance for something he does all the time?
@@nicopaduamusic I think they are saying people often rush to help disabled people who don't need it. They said it's respectful that people did not do this.
I’m sure he didn’t want or need help it’s kinda an insult so I agree
@@beckamayfield9912 Before we say something, consider common sense. The guy swims much faster with just his legs than many untrained people with both arms and legs. So why in hell would anyone even think he needs help getting out of the pool when there are stairs. His courage and determination shows nothing is impossible for anyone 😊😊😊
I'm a swim teacher of many years and this supports my theory that the kick is the most important part of the back stroke
Colleen Jennings That’s great!

Do you think in this case having no arms (less drag) is actually an advantage?
@@norten76 imo you are right. Having no arms reduces drag a significant amount as well as simplifying form overall reducing errors and allowing for focused form on all that is left.

That moment when a guy with no arms wins and is also a lot faster than most people with no disabilities. Makes you think about how you can achieve your goals and dreams if you really put your mind into it. Very impressive performance indeed!
+madman2u In France we've got a (really) bad joke about that : a guy with no arms and no legs swim faster than the others ones without disabilities. The teacher asks him "how can you swim so fast!?" Then the kid answers "Oh, that's nothing... I train every day with my father at the lake and the hardest part is to get outside the bag!"
Very very inspiring

No arms = less water resistance.
Once he mastered his style of swimming, his disadvantage became his advantage.

It won't hurt his head that much. I've swam in an Olympic pool many times. And they have a rubber sheet thing that records times on the wall at the end of the pool. This rubber is not too soft but soft enough to keep a 2 yr old from crying when hitting it

so boxers, football players, rugby players, and MMA fighters everywhere spend their careers being knocked in the head and you are worried about these guys -.- they are pro paralympic swimmers so dont feel sorry for them. and full speed for them in the water is walking pace for someone on land. just go and walk slowly into a soft dry wall and you will see how it feels. The Omega pads also have quite a bit of give to them.

the idea of paralympics is great to see people who lost limbs or were born deformed have a chance to be Olympians . the only thing wrong with it is that it's hard to judge if a person is qualified or not because it's not fair for others. is a guy missing two legs capable of competing with a guy who lost two arms
+عامر البلهموطي Paralympic classification in swimming can be quite hard for people to understand, so hopefully this helps.
The short answer to your question is that even though the impairments are different, the impact of their impairment on their ability to swim is the same.
Here is a more detailed answer:
The sport class names in swimming consist of a prefix “S”, ”SB” or “SM” and a number. The prefixes stand for the event and the number indicates the sport class the athlete competes in the respective event. The prefixes stand for:• S: Freestyle, butterfly and backstroke events• SB: Breaststroke• SM: Individual medleySport classes 1-10: Physical impairmentThere are 10 different S and SM sport classes, numbered 1-10, and nine SB sport classes, numbered 1-9, for athletes with a physical impairment. A lower number indicates a more severe activity limitation than a higher number. As you mentioned, athletes with different impairment types compete against each other. The impact of their impairment on swim performance, however, is similar.Sport classes 11-13: Visual ImpairmentSport class 14: Intellectual impairmentThere is more info here: www.paralympic.org/swimming/classification
