    My ward meets in a Tabernacle. It has arches all over the place and stained glass.

    Diagonally over the road from the future Brussels Belgium Temple, set back a bit, is the royal palace. The working one, not the residential one. And a few streets away, behind the temple building is of course the EU parliament building, which was mentioned.

    Symbolically, the Lord if we allow it through our agency is repurposing each of us to a temple as the scriptures say. I also like provo city center repurposed from ashes to holiness. 😊

    This is blowing my mind right now. With the decrease in church attendance in most Christian denominations, many beautiful churches are for sale in most major cities, which could be converted into active temples relatively quickly, and beautifully! As a Catholic convert, I think this is pretty neat. Very cool

      This would frustrate all these steeple arguments if the temple was set up in ordinary buildings away from the outside world I thought ti was just ridiculous that Nemo flew all the way out to the US just to complain with critics about building steeples.. The Lord can do anything that he wants, he can set up his temples anywhere, anyplace even in the back of the side alley down some abandoned New York street, or in an empty office building lot, or even turn members own houses into temples (set aside a floor reserved for the temple). You never know .it could very well come to something like that in the future that the Lord starts setting up his temples in ordinary houses or buildings.. Or he could go like he did with Moses and make mini portable temples for people to carry and transport around. The Lord knows everything before you even make your move.. Elder Bednar said that its not the steeples or the building, its the ordinances that you get inside the temple....

      I wouldn't be surprised if Nemo now flew out to complain and criticize the Church for having NO steeples. The wicked are NEVER satisfied....

    I love this! Anytime someone says God won't or can't do something I'm reminded of President Holland saying that imperfect people is all He has ever had to work with. 😂
    If He uses us, and the work moves forward, then He is truly a God of miracles and can do ALL things!

    Jared, our son served his Spanish speaking mission at Manhattan, NY. It was interesting going through the temple, which looked like a business center! It goes to show you that it’s not the building, but the spirit inside, that counts!♥️🌺🎶🤩🇺🇸Keep up the amazing, inspiring work work! I depend on your videos each day! Thank you sooooooooo much. May God bless you and your family!💗

    The Ogden and Provo temples were supposed to have the theme of a cloud for shade during the day and a pillar of fire during the night. They were dedicated in 1972-ish.
    I used to go to stake conference in the Provo Tablernacle.

    As a boy I attended Stake Confrence meetings in the Old stye Tabernacle in Ogden where the Ogden temple stands today. It was similarto the tabernacle in Brigham and Logan. I watched parades from the grounds in front of the tabernacle and picking up acorns from the majestic old Oak trees. There was a LDS chapple to the west of it where I went to church for a short while, and we were told that a temple would stand there one day. Later the Tabernacle that is north or the Ogden Temple is was built the first tabernacle and the old church are gone along with the wondefull old oak trees to make way for the first temple built in the state of Utah where I first receved my endowments. Utah Was a teritory when the first temples were built. Then the Ogden temple Was rebuilt there. 76 years of memorys.

    There can also be temporary temple dedications on chapels, for example, there was not enough room for everyone in the Columbus area to attend the temple rededication, so they temporarily dedicated several chapels to serve as temples so the dedication could be widely broadcasted.
    People needed a recommend to get into the chapel for the broadcast.

    Is the SLC temple going to be the first temple where anybody will be able to hear the endowments in their own language?!? While others have say English?
    Seems like that is new (never been through ) but just came to me… literally will have the actual house of Israel, gather back together to the lord’s house… like the house of Israel would be gathered. 50 different languages maybe being spoke at the same time.. gonna be crazy

    The Vernal temple is NOT a large building. It is a beautiful small temple though and I am sure the pioneers who built it as a tabernacle are happy to see it as a temple.

      You're right. It is a very small, but beautiful temple. I keep praying that another one will be built in this area. Vernal accommodates a lot of small towns around, so one in or near a surrounding area would be a huge blessing. We don't go just because it's always full.

    The Ogden and Provo buildings actually were panels balanced on their bases. They were not earthquake stable and needed to be made more stable. Each panel was placed to balance the opposite side.

    If you angle your view from the scaffolding in front of the open garage bay door of the attached adjacent building you can see the building number 51/52 in the entryway.
    That location is between the Brussels Palace and the European parliament, EU Commission and other EU institutions so it will have high visibility.

    A good example of a temple being completely torn down and rebuilt like Provo Rock Canyon, Ogden, and Anchorage Alaska is the Stockholm Sweden Temple. While the new design resembles the old one, it is renewed and refreshed. And they completely tore it down in the past few months.

    Maybe the emphasis on referring to the temple as “the House of the Lord” is partially because we are beginning the transition of thinking of temples in the future having various purposes, not only work for the dead.

    What reasons do we repurpose buildings for temples? Some like Provo City Center, Copenhagen, and Vernal preserved historic tabernacles or meetinghouses. In Manhattan we renovated an existing meetinghouse. But I think that one was due to difficulty finding suitable land or due to cost but also after a failed attemtp to gain aproval for a temple in White Plains or Harrison New York. I wonder about the reason for this in Brussels. Could it be to land costs or due to gaining zoning or government aproavals? I feel that is how we will get the temple in Shanghai aproved and built is to renovate the interior of an office building.

  • @Softwhisper142
    @Softwhisper142 9 дней назад

    Jared, IMO, the new design of the Ogden temple is not “modern”. Maybe people consider it modern because some temples are now looking more like it(Ogden temple/cardston/edmonton and the like). The straight lines and a block (box) style I believe are more of an ancient design. Possibly because the modules that are being built in a central location and then they are shipped/transported to the state/country they will be assembled in that style.
    IMO the new “modern” design is an ancient design. Possibly like the temple of Solomon and or great cathedrals? Could many great cathedrals with their beautiful architecture and art work? (engravings and Christian symbols done by masters in their craft (stone masons come to mind).
    What do you think of my opinion?

    It used to be the baptistry had to be below ground. But at least the new Taylorsville temple it is on groudlevel. The church has to consider thongs like ground water, the type of land, ,zoning laws, and buildings already there. So why not use existing buildings if they can be repurposed? The only thing that is import is the ordinances done there.

  • @becomingrichthroughjesuschrist
    @becomingrichthroughjesuschrist 9 дней назад

    I think this is a beautiful symbol of how each of our lives can repurposed and become beautiful temples to the Lord just like these old buildings are being renovated and made new in Christ.
