I’ve had both my iwatas from since 2005 never missed a beat and they still look brand new like the day I bought them,it’s called maintenance my friends
You can get a quick change hose adapter with the M.A.C valve ( Micro Air Control ) in it just about any airbrush supply shop and on Ebay. it doesn't have to be built in the airbrush.
Wish I saw this video a month ago. I've had many $30-50 airbrushes and have done ok, I do canvas art. I researched $100 airbrushes and ended up with a master 233, I'll just eh. Thanks for the info.
Sometimes when you spray at really low pressure you can get splattering. Try twisting your airline like a garden hose some time on purpose if you want the splatter effect. The paint won't atomize. Great review!
I have a Badger 105. It does pretty well for large coverage areas. I am looking for an airbrush with a little smaller needle and tighter spray pattern. I am very interested in the Ultra. I don't want to buy any airbrush that requires a tool ('spanner') to take it apart! Why do they call the Ultra a "starter" airbrush? Is it because it doesn't have a needle stop? The Eclipse doesn't!
The Ultra is a "starter Harder & Steenbeck" because it is the cheapest H&S 😁. The Evolution CR Plus dont have a needle stopper as well but nobody will call it a "starter airbrush". Actually for ~$100, it is hard to beat GSI Creos PS-270/289 when it comes to tight spray patterns - these things are basically the equivalent of $250 Iwata Hi-Line. But I guess you wont like em cos you will need not 1 but 2 spanners to fully take apart; oh wait... need another one for the MAC 😁
I had the eclipse HP CS. I've never had any O-rings go bad yet. I've had it for about two years and I spray a lot of lacquers and urethanes through it. The only O-rings on it are in the needle valve in the air valve and for the main cap in the front. Neither one of them really get touched by solvents. Even during cleaning. Just don't soak it in solvents without taking the O-rings off. And I've only had to really soak my airbrush twice because I let lacquer dry inside of it.
Hi, yet to get an airbrush but would mainly do so for priming/basecoating/varnishing. Would the standard Ultra 0.2mm nozzle cope well with this or should I get a set that also has the 0.4mm? Thanks!
Seal number 5 on the Iwata is for the air cap and the rear handle, number 7 is for the air valve, O-rings which you do not put in a cleaning tank with the rest of the airbrush. So they are. Not a huge deal and can be bought at your local hardware or automotive parts store. As for the air compressor why buy one of those from Spray Gunner when you can add a bit more and get an 110 volt, oil free dual piston pump, only 60db noise level, 5.5 gallon tank with wheels and handle from California Air compressor on Ebay New, just a line pull for testing at 140.00.with free shipping in the U.S. Spray Gunner is a Great place and the guys are awesome, but a single lung with a 3/4 gallon or no tank at all is crazy for a compressor. Plus you can fill tires and blow out other things like computer cases and fans etc.Have fun cleaning out the paint from that H&S small paint cup hole and main body. it's going to take you a long time through that small hole to get that chamber clean, esp if you forget and let paint get hard in it. You can pick up a Badger Juvel ( same as a Raptor ) for 55.00 and 22.00 for the 0.2mm air cap, needle and fluid tip set with free shipping at Midwest Airbrush... with a easier fluid tip to clean and not lose.
As an Beginner I use the Ultra and i find it is good as a practice Device. Not so cheap you are careless and not so expensive you are over protective. One day when i am better i get the infinite. One day^^

I imagine you could easily fool yourself I to thinking you have talent once you see the results. £20 off Ebay. I really can not imagine how incredible one of these expensive ones must be. Paul from NB Canada. Just found your channel and am pleased so far in your content. Look ng forward to more reviews!
Welcome aboard!
I put my first evolution through hell and it keeps going Harder & Steenbeck airbrushes are AK of the airbrush world.
Thinking about getting one of these as my first airbrush, whats the deal with the manual air control valve? Who makes um and where to get um?
Grex and H&S both make ones. I still use my Grex, but Ive used the H&S and its pretty good too.

Ultra V2 is the same?
how does this blow away the eclipse? there is many cons, hard to backflush, the paint cup could easy fall off, no cup lid,
think he was taliking about end result and easy of brushing
I have a Badger 105. It does pretty well for large coverage areas. I am looking for an airbrush with a little smaller needle and tighter spray pattern. I am very interested in the Ultra. Have you ever had a seal go bad on the Iwata? Mine is 10 years old, with considerable use and never had a seal go out.
Ive had an o ring go bad after a year of use, and the nickel plating came off in both the ones i bought, to the point the first one was unusable.
I had the eclipse HP CS. I've never had any O-rings go bad yet. I've had it for about two years and I spray a lot of lacquers and urethanes through it. .4 is fine for that :)
Video seems like an add for spray gunner website. H&S needles will bend much easier than Iwata in my experience.
Actually I’ve bent way more iwata needles so far that any other airbrush (Grex, badger, h&s) I’ve used.
fjdcwc832 Plug?🤔

I was just about to order the PS-289 but now I’m a bit confused with this video. Which brush do you think actually sprays better, part quality aside?
I think the Ultra is a great brush for under $100. You can't go wrong with that one.
I bought a cheap airbrush before Christmas to prime minis with. It was £20 on Ebay with a compressor, brand new and unopened. Not like some super thing but oh my God, it's makes your minis look like you have some talent. Seriously, I can't believe how simple it is to use. The results are astonishing and I really have zero experience. It's like painting for idiots, I kid you not. Hey man I bought the bundle through spray gunner and it didn't come with the backflush cap. You should recommend they include it!
Are you sure that orange airbrush isn't a Chameleon? I'm looking at spraygunner and the evolution doesn't have an exposed needle, but the chameleon does and its orange...
Does the tail piece from the Infinity fit the Ultra and still have the quick set feature?
Do they have a bundle available?
Your spray pattern was splatter because you used too low psi. It’s a good technique if you want texture. For a thin line I recommend high psi low paint and moving very fast.

Going to have to try this out at some point..👍
Can't wait to get mine!
Anyone know a link for the pressure regulator he uses?
Or any good one?
Honestly you should just get a good one from the get go. I have 0 regrets getting my iwata eclipse

What model is the orange one?
its this one: bit.ly/InfinityKit
I see you don't use badgers? From my own experiences I find it hard to do detail work with badgers as they tend to spray like fire hoses!😆

You seem to be the only person I can find that doesn't like the Iwata.
Did you see the one in the video, that's after less than a year of use!!! Sometimes you gotta try better products to know there IS better out there.
