Thank you for sharing this video. I am trying to organize my dies and was not sure what magnet was going to work. I am also a visual person so loved the idea of the clear divider. Thank you.
I realize your video is 5 years old, but I am thrilled to find it. As crazy as it is I went to Lowe's to get vent covers today (and waited and waited for help-ugh!) and they were sold out. Like you I want to organize all my stamps and dies, but I am stumped with no magnets. I think your video helped me see many of the options out there will work just find and dandy. I am excited to subscribe and watch more videos! Great job!
I put the floor vent magnetic sheets in a picture frame from Goodwill. I store my most often used dies in the frame. The rest of my dies are in CD cases with smaller pieces of magnet sheets to hold them in place. I use a rotating CD rack to hold all the cases. The rack also holds all of my unmounted stamps.
TFS. I'm always amazed at how many people want to know the exact details including where to buy something. They have computers in their hands with search engines galore. And gripe about free tutoring. For real I just shake my head.
I found out the hard way for magnet sheets I was using to store my dies on. I have found out that if I adhere the lesser strength magnets on some cardboard (I cut up a box.) it helps the dies stay on better because they don't bend. I buy my magnets from Amazon. What is sad about all of this is, my cost of storage is much more then the cost of the item I'm storing to keep organized. They sure know how to get us crafters. Before we crafted to save money. Now we only craft for enjoyment. Because we sure aren't saving money. It's a love of an art form. I like the idea of the mylar as dividers. I have mine divided but with heavy card stock glued and folded in half with rounded corners. It's a temp thing until I could find another idea. Which now, thanks to you, I have!
This is great!! I’ve been doing business with Oriental Trading for years and I didn’t know they had these!? I had bought a magnet roll from Tap Plastics and just measured and cut. I got a bunch out of it but it’s not flat. I had to work hard to get them as flat as they are now! Thank you so much!😃
You did a great job. I love how you are storing your stuff. I do use the vent covers... but with what you have shown, I am thinking of new ways to do things. Hugs.
Good job & for your first time too. Thanks for all your information. I've been looking for a better way to store my dies & I think I've found the one. I have the Stampendous Thicker storage containers for my rubber mounted stamps so now I think I will use the Thin & the magnet sheets for all my dies. Just makes for easier access to the dies. Like you I am visual so I need to see what I have. In addition they shouldn't take up that much room being thin. Also appreciated your comments on the three different magnet sheets.
Amazing informative video. Thanks for comparing. I use the small leftover magnet pieces in empty cd cases for odds and ends and/or for small stamp/die sets.
I appreciate your video. I am working up a storage system for dies. The walmart crafters companion.. the binders I can get from Costco. The Large Mylar sheets ... well they sell translucent file folders at dollar stores I might look into getting those to make dividers.( I do not have a Pat Katans near me. Never heard of it. guessing at spelling) I got magnetic sheet from Amazon about the same cost as your oriental trading already cut down to the two most used sizes with adhesive backs. Thank you so much for all the inspiration. I really needed it.. getting into some overwhelm with all I have to organize in my crafting area. Thank you so much, having some of my choices validated really helped and the new info even more so.
I am so happy you found the video helpful. If you check out my channel there is a part two. Such a great feeling when stuff is stored in a way that enables you to get the most out of it. I have found that some of my die sets are working together to create my my project (instead of ordering more dies). "Since now i can actually see what all i have." Pat Catans = www.patcatans.com Have a Blessed day, Tammy
Hello Marilyn, thank you for visiting. Please check out my channel and visit the video titled: Organizing Steel Dies, Magnet Sheets, Stampendous. Part 2 . Have a blessed day.
Thank you for making this video - I finally figured out my machine and bought some new dies and was really confused about the difference in prices for magnet storage.
Thanks Madeline, i use the same system as my other dies. If they are the Thinlets i store those in the case sold by Sizzix ( i don't know if its still available) However, a pencil box would also work. Hope this was helpful. Have a blessed day, Tammy
On my way to lowes. Thank u for such a useful video.. I woulda never spot of that idea and still wouldn't be getting my dies organized because of the cost thank you for a great alternative idea.
Just "found" your channel and so glad I did!! I have subscribed and watched several now!! I just wanted to tell you I have a love/hate relationship with these things!!! I have many crafters companion plastic organizers and you can probably see they are cheaply made. The openers have broken off that hold the dies and stamps in but I haven't tried the other two. I do like a system that opens and closes as they do not stay where they are put!! I have Tonic Studios zippered cases, crafters companion cases that also zip but those also do not stay put but both keep them enclosed. I purchase the Gina K Designs clear boxes for her collections and like that it closes but she sometimes sends her dies on the Stamp and Storage blocks. Those seem pretty good to me compared to the others BUT they do not have cases to keep the dies in so...GKD used to send her kids in these clear boxes but now sells them separately and I do like them for on going work projects. I have Heartfelt Creations storage also but not a fan of those either! I have a couple of Anna Griffin storage folders which are ok but you keep those in clear plastic storage that do not seal. I wish u could come up with something that truly works for me!!! Thanks for all of your hard work as I enjoy watching!! Blessings!!
I miss Pat Catans! They are permanently closed now. I cut apart plastic 3 ring binders from the dollar store for dividers (scissors). Magnetic sheets mounted with masking tape inside my cabinet doors are great to hold oversized dies.
I have been using the Stuftainers for all my stamps and all my dies. It keeps them clean, dust free and you can get 2 magnetic sheets in one stuftainer and still have plenty of breathing room. I can see from the front and the back what dies I have in that container. They stack nicely in a box or basket and are easy to put labels on the tops. These things are priceless to use as stamp holders, the stamps stick right to the product and again holds stamps on the front side and the back side and everything stays clean, orderly and dust free. You can google where to buy the Stuftainers at the best price. You will love this system for your stamps and dies.
Great job! I saw another video kind of the same, same three kinds of magnets, but it was mish mash (I hope that's a word or two), and left the viewer kind of confused. The whole point of it was to show how strong the magnets are, and that's important, but you gave concrete examples of how each would work for you. I HAVE BEEN USING MAINLY (sorry about caps) the vent covers and I cut them down to use in my Avery Elle storage envelopes. I end up with little pieces, which I use in various ways. I have been known when I'm down to my last bit and don't want to go to Home Depot, to glue them side by side in the envelope (on card stock) and I have even put my larger dies in there, and it doesn't look as nice, altho not too bad, but it doesn't bother me. I also do the same as you, when I have a stray die or so. All in all, great video!
The Lowe's magnetic sheet isn't intended to "stick" to the vent covers. That's why it's magnetic..so you can remove it or place in on the vent as needed.
I use the Oriental Trading sheets and save any small pieces and add them to a cheap, thick card stock, the size I need. Just piece them together if you need to use for a larger die. Hope that makes sense. Ross also had fridge bins at great prices, some $3 some $7 depending on the size.
Hi, I enjoyed your video. I like the Sizzix/ Tim Holtz storage envelopes for my dies because of the heavy weight material. I wrote down the Crafters Companion magnetic sheets that I can order through Walmart. That was a great suggestion for me. The vent covers seem to flimsy. Thank you.
I'm new to your channel & I did subscribe. 😊 Organizing dies is the project that I'm currently working on. So I was interested in seeing your tips. I agree with you about putting a magnet in the Sizzix folders. I've been using magnet sheets that I got from Dollar Tree for that. They're intended for decorated a school locker. Thin but ok for the Avery storage bags, etc. Thank you for sharing!
Great information, I’m in the Uk and won’t be able to get the vent covers or Oriental trading as their shipping ends up being about three times what I pay for them, so way above my price range, but I’m sure I can get something like it here, maybe not the vent covers as we don’t tend to have them over here. I’m not sure what to use to store them In, I can get the Avery Elle envelopes from amazon but they are quite expensive, but I’ll find something, it’s more the storage bin, a lot of folk say the dollar tree is where they got theirs, but our pound stores which are meant to be the same sort of thing, doesn’t have anything like that, in fact it’s pot luck what they have as it’s usually just the ends of lines. Anyway thank you for this it’s got me thinking. Huggles xxxAnnxxx
TC's Paper Blessings yes I have the 510 zyron, I have found a place on amazon and on on eBay that dose 12 sheets for a good price, they are not adhesive, but firm enough to use. I can of course get the crafters companion, but they are very expensive! So now to the sorting eek
I don't live too far from you! I go to the Strongsville one. Many moons ago I went to the one in Cleveland. It looked like an old warehouse. They are now owned by Micheals. I prefer it over Micheals. They seem to have more items to choose from.
Thank you! So informative. I am in the process of organizing and this really helped. I use the vent covers, but will be ordering the Oriental Trading ones, now. Thanks for the idea of how to use the vent covers!! Does anyone know where I can get the plastic envelopes (the sturdy, milky ones) that some of the dies come in. I would love to purchase some of those. I will be using the C-line Ticket holders as part of my system that I get from Amazon...the 6" x 9" size. I like a more uniform filing system...not a digger like you and Tim. LOL Keep your comparison videos coming!
I purchase my self-adhesive magnetic sheets on Amazon for a great savings. I also purchase chip board to back my large magnetic sheets (Amazon) which I place in secure top sheet protectors purchased from Home Depot. These I place in notebooks. Works wonderful for my dies.
I just visited their website and none of yhe magnetic storage is showing available, will keep checking. Thanks for sharing, I wasn't aware is it prior to your video 👍😊
Hello Craftsbypwilli, I am not sure what website your referring to. Oriental trading post is still selling the magnetic sheets. Crafters companions i purchased through Walmart website and had delivered to the store. If i can assist with more information let me know. Have an awesome day.
Can you give me a link to the Crafter Companion magnetic sheets? I have lots of dies with stamps and love your idea on storing the two together. Thank you very much!
Great information. I was wondering how all of the magnets worked. My question about the Avery Elle bags - are they sturdy or do they tear apart? I have seen some people making a really sturdy "envelope" out of laminating bags that looks a lot more sturdy. Your thoughts?
Thanks Ron for the suggestion. Unfortunately, i posted this video before i learned how to edit videos or post (Link)additional information. I am currently learning and will do better. I thank you for stopping by and hope you will consider checking out my channel. Have a blessed day.
the oriental trading magnets really jumped in price. they are now $22 for twelve. by the time you add $6.99 shipping and tax, my order was about $30. i tried the vent cover from walmart. wimpy magnet, barely holds anything. good thing i only bought 2 packages.
I'm sorry, but did you happen to figure out what magnet was the better buy per inch? since they were all strong and usable for this, I just want to know where to purchase for best use of my $. very nice video, thank you for doing it. I am interested in more like this.
Thanks Virginia for stopping by. Yes, I am using the magnetic sheets from Oriental Trading Post. The free shipping, adhesive backed sheets come to $1.00 per sheet sold in a pack of 12. The register covers need to have adhesive put on them. The Crafters companion while a good product is being used for my larger dies and stamps sets example Stampendous. Hope this helps with your organization. Have a blessed day!
If you have too many dies like me, the vent covers are the best buy (THREE 8"x15" sheets for under $5 on the west coast). If you find them too flimsy, you can always glue them to $Tree 3x5 or 4x6 index cards. You can also get unelegant poly zip bags in those sizes at Michaels instead of using the Avery envelopes. I haven't tried the clear CD sleeves shown in many vidoes but they have some cheap ones at Walmart online (which you can return in-store if you bought the wrong siize or just don't like them).
I've watched many videos on this topic too, so thank you for comparing all of them. I have a number of large A4 size die sets for which I'm still struggling to store similarly. Any suggestions? The Stampendous tall holders are about 1/2" too short :(. Thanks for your time and input!
Thanks for watching, i have placed mine in the sizzix large storage containers. i also use both sides (place a magnet sheet or the whiite board) of what ever size of storage I am using. Hope that helps if you find a soulution that works better please reply. Thanks again, Blessings Tammy
It looks like it's probably chipboard covered with decorative paper. I've seen magazine holders made from cardboard, metal, plastic and thin wood panels. They are easy to find online in a wide variety of decor styles.
Hello Leslie, thanks for stopping by. The stufftainer containers (thin ones) are a stampendous product (STOR01 Thin Stufftainers) mine are from Pat Catans. Hope this helps, good luck with your organizing. You will really enjoy the results, get more use out of your dies. Blessings to you, have a great day.
7 1/8" long 5 1/4" wide for the Avery envelopes SS-5001 Large Stamp & Die Storage Pockets. I use the remaining strips for large dies, so far my scraps are few... lol Hope this helps...have a blessed day.
Can you post links to where you got your supplies? I too am very visual but I have a Dory memory. LOL Looooooooooooooove your videos, subscribed and also shared.
Hello Lisa, I am also a visual lol. Staples.com (binder). Item# Staples Heavy-Duty 5-Inch 3-Ring View Binder, Black (24699-US) . Love this style, thanks for stopping by. Have a blessed day.
Thanks sweetie. I just found 2 5 inch binders. EEEEEEEEEEEk, I will be rewatching your video again after I finish my nagging photos on my phone. I have to get them off of my phone asap. Anyhow, Will be continuing to watch this so I can finally get my organizing going. I forgot to ask. For instance, I have a LOT of Stampin Up stamps, Hero Arts as well as other brands. For cataloging, Ok, do you put all your 'brands' together in the catalog? Say you have a lot of SU & Hero Arts 'Baby' stamps for instance, would you stamp those all out onto however many sheets, then store together in the binder in the baby section, or do you put say all Hero Arts & SU stamps in their own section of the binder? I need to rewatch this slowly later so that I can try and nab it down. Tytytytysvm for your help! There needs to be a love button on YT videos!
Yea for the binders... I store stampin up in a book case because of the containers there in, then i catalog them into there own section of the master catalog Stampin Up, I do the same with Close to My Heart because of the containers as i like to group with like containers for storage ease. The other wooden Misc. stamps go into my Cherry cabinet so in the catalog i have them as D-1, D-2 (D = Drawere) etc... the clear clings are stored in a clear plastic bin with there own divider ( words, flowers, LaLa stamps even if they have flowers if there are words i put them with words. ) then in the catalog i have them listed as ( C-1 Flowers) recommended by Jennifer McQuire they are in the catalog as C-1 because i have two clear plastic containers, the second one has dies and dies with stamps. The key is to place them in your master catalog so you can flip through the catalog to fine what stamp or die you would like to use and then be able to find where you have it stored. Some people have to place stamps in shoe boxes under there bed or a spare closet, so when you put the container C-1 for example it lets me know where the stamp is stored for easy finding (which is the main idea, seeing what you have and knowing where to find it) I sometimes have to relocate a stamp to a new home so all i have to do is make a note of its new location in the master catalog. The second best part of the this being organized, it really does help get the most out of all you have. Example - stamp from one set can be combined with a stamp from another and perhaps you need a frame die from a large die set you know what you have and where to find it. I hope i explained this well. I wish you the best of organizing, once its finished you will be so HAPPY ...Blessings, Tammy
Thank you for sharing this video. I am trying to organize my dies and was not sure what magnet was going to work. I am also a visual person so loved the idea of the clear divider. Thank you.

I remember seeing your video here some time ago. Glad I found it again now that I am in a position to organize with some of the products you unboxed.
That is AMAZING!!! Thank you for sharing.
Great idea!!!
FINALLY!! The only video I could find that COMPARES the different magnetic products!! Thank you SOOOO MUCH!
TFS. I'm always amazed at how many people want to know the exact details including where to buy something. They have computers in their hands with search engines galore. And gripe about free tutoring. For real I just shake my head.
Bravo 👏🏼
Sharing all the issues a crafter would have problems with.
-Comparison
-Addition tips
-Simple removal of label from package
Great job
Thank you, was my first video and learning experience on all account. Have a blessed day.
I found out the hard way for magnet sheets I was using to store my dies on. I have found out that if I adhere the lesser strength magnets on some cardboard (I cut up a box.) it helps the dies stay on better because they don't bend. I buy my magnets from Amazon.

I really needed this video! I'm moving soon and I have to do something with all of my dies, stamps, too. Thank you so much for sharing,
Amazing informative video. Thanks for comparing. I use the small leftover magnet pieces in empty cd cases for odds and ends and/or for small stamp/die sets.
great video thank you looking forward to more, I love your voice, your open mindedness and the useful very useful information
Hello Cecilia, thank you for watching. Take care, Tammy
Wonderful tutorial. Awesome ideas. Thank you for all of your hard work, shopping, research and comparisons. ❤
I appreciate your video. I am working up a storage system for dies. The walmart crafters companion.. the binders I can get from Costco. The Large Mylar sheets ... well they sell translucent file folders at dollar stores I might look into getting those to make dividers.( I do not have a Pat Katans near me. Thank you for making this video - I finally figured out my machine and bought some new dies and was really confused about the difference in prices for magnet storage.
Great video! Thank you for sharing. I found, on amazon, 25 magnets, but, they're smaller sheets. They weren't expensive either.
Thank you, really great info !!! I just purchased a mini Sizzix and was wondering how to store my dies.
TFS, take care. Maddy NY 😊
Thanks Madeline, i use the same system as my other dies. If they are the Thinlets i store those in the case sold by Sizzix ( i don't know if its still available) However, a pencil box would also work. Hope this was helpful. Have a blessed day, Tammy
Know you did this two years ago, but it's still relevant!
On my way to lowes. Thank u for such a useful video.. I woulda never spot of that idea and still wouldn't be getting my dies organized because of the cost thank you for a great alternative idea.

I love your honesty! These were great comparisons. I just wish there was one way to store them all in one type & size!would u link part 2 here please?

Good information and comparison. Amazingly, six years later, the price of the Oriental trading magnetic sheets is $24.99!!!

Thx MUCH for the hint about flexibility being important to getting the die off the magnet.
Thank you for doing a side by side comparison. How clever to find a different use for each style!
Hello Beverly, thanks for the comment. Take care, Tammy
Thank you for sharing. You did alot of homework for me. Very informative.❤
Excellent job thank you... i used to be more organized but as i got older not so much so glad for the tips.
would you post the links to the product pages? Interested in the hard plastic enclosures especially.
Thank you, hope you will check back in again. Have a blessed day
Thanks for this information! I’ve been looking for a way to organize stamps/die combos. I think the crafter’s companion might be the answer for me!
You did a great job! Thank you for sharing. Also, you can get those fridge dividers on Amazon. Thank you for the information.
That was a really lovely video thank you so much for giving your opinion on these products, it was a great help - Tfs.
The Lowe's magnetic sheet isn't intended to "stick" to the vent covers. That's why it's magnetic..so you can remove it or place in on the vent as needed.
Love... LOVE all your organizational TIPS!! More PLEASE! ;)
More to come, retirement around the corner. Have a blessed day.
Thank you for sharing all your tips!! Extremely helpful information here. I definitely need to organize my dies to be mire useful
I was going to order a bunch of them storage containers...but they are crazy expensive. Looking for a cheaper version because I do love those.
Very informative. Now I can see how different products are good for different items. You seemed like a pro. Subbing.
Thanks Robin, hope you will visit again. I have more in store to share. Have a blessed day!
Thank you so much for doing this comparison! It's so helpful, especially if one has little money to work with, & can't afford to make a mistake.

This is such a GREAT video. I had to watch it again.
Thanks for the tips. It would have been a little better for me if u put a list of items used.
It's not hard to look these up yourself.
Excellent presentation!
I liked how you showed the difference of all three, tfs.

Love this video so much! I appreciate it 🙏 tfs
just watched this and yes with date 2017 still going strong thanks a bunch...

I like a more uniform filing system...not a digger like you and Tim. LOL Keep your comparison videos coming!
Carol Salter I just saw those plastic envelopes at Hobby Lobby!
I will check Walmart website...thanks for the update. ;)
What a perfect video on this topic!! Thank you!
My magnetic sheets did not work well from Oriental Trading. The magnet eas too week. Purchased a couple of yrs ago
AWESOME! Just what I need to help me organize my stamps and dies.
Thank you Stacey, Have a blessed day.
Thank you Bevey, I am now organized, hope the video helped you with yours. Have an awesome day.
Yea, have a blessed day.
Can you give me a link to the Crafter Companion magnetic sheets? I have lots of dies with stamps and love your idea on storing the two together. Thank you very much!
The washi tape is a clever idea!
Excellent video, thank you for sharing😍
Darn... The magnetic sheets from Oriental trading are $19.99 per dozen so I guess they raised their price. Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much. Your info is so helpful.
Why would you think there would be adhesive on the back of a vent cover?
Great information. I was wondering how all of the magnets worked. My question about the Avery Elle bags - are they sturdy or do they tear apart? I have seen some people making a really sturdy "envelope" out of laminating bags that looks a lot more sturdy. Your thoughts?
They are sturdy and have served me well for many years. Thanks for stopping by.
I use the 8 x 15" magnetic vent covers glued on inexpensive mirrors from Target and get a large space for my dies for about $16 each.
I wish you would put more information or links to the products in the description
Thanks Ron for the suggestion. Unfortunately, i posted this video before i learned how to edit videos or post (Link)additional information. I am currently learning and will do better. I thank you for stopping by and hope you will consider checking out my channel. Have a blessed day.
I used placemats from the Dollar Tree for 2 dividers, measured and cut them down to size to fit my containers.
Would you still recommend the same product?
I still use the same magnets from oriental trading .. purchased a large quantity . The magnets work perfectly .
Craft Warehouse and other craft stores carry the Avery Elle envelopes. I just purchased with a coupon for a wonderful savings.
Where can you find the plastic holders. No one has them.
I was able to locate some on Amazon. Take care.
Thanks for all the great information
Your more than welcome. I am soon going posting more videos. Have a blessed day

I loved this video , thank you for sharing. Bevey
Thank you Bevey, have an awesome day.
Hello Bevey, Thanks for watching. Take care, Tammy
I would think the caller tree cutting mats would work as dividers also
the oriental trading magnets really jumped in price. they are now $22 for twelve. by the time you add $6.99 shipping and tax, my order was about $30.
i tried the vent cover from walmart. wimpy magnet, barely holds anything. good thing i only bought 2 packages.
Thanks for the info. Nice job!
Smile,,, thanks. I hope you are able to view the other videos. I will have many more postings soon...Have a blessed day.
Great information, thank you.
Thank you for this video it was very helpful.
Hello Jane, thanks for watching. Take care, Tammy

What is the paper holder made of you put those plastic holders in? Be kind to one another. Stay safe. Love to all
It looks like it's probably chipboard covered with decorative paper.
I've seen magazine holders made from cardboard, metal, plastic and thin wood panels.
They are easy to find online in a wide variety of decor styles.
Nice job!
TY I need to do this with my dies
Thanks for this information! I'm just getting started organizing mine!! Where do you buy the thin clear plastic stackable holders? Thanks for sharing.
This was very helpful. Thank you!
Can you share the dimensions you cut the oriental trading magnets please
I wish you the best of organizing, once its finished you will be so HAPPY ...Blessings, Tammy
hey what are these dies used for?
Excellent info!
I hate being disorganized...I moved a year ago and new craft room ...totally different ....and I want to organize.....thanks....now to get some
