I use these binders to store my embossing folders too. The gray gives just enough contrast so I can see the pattern. I also put a 3/4 length cardstock piece in with the backing cardstock when I have those edge or "strip" embossing folders that sometimes come with the regular size embossing folders. The 3/4 length piece allows me to keep the strips vertical and I can get them out easier when I need them.

I just came across this video and had to smile because this is the way I am storing my stamp sets that don't come in their own boxes! Great minds think alike! A suggestion to avoid cutting and pasting the labels is to go into Word on your computer and set your new document on landscape and create two columns. Then type in your labels at the top of each column. Print double sided (make sure to have them print so that the labels are always at the top of the page) on card stock and cut in half!

Mine are in 2" binders and I did them horizontally for the 4x6 sets, using staples and making little slits along the binder edge (I also have one for the small "dollar" stamps, using the sheet protectors for baseball cards. They're perfect!). For larger sets, I just use a whole page. I use glue dots to secure the back of the plastic sheeting to the cardstock, except for ones that fit nicely into the horizontal pockets I created - just leaving them in their original packaging. I went a step further to get them organized (because I have 10 binders {stamp hoarder! 😆})... every time I add a new stamp/set, I save an image from the internet and I put it into my photo library, using tags for the images and words, plus the name/manufacturer, and I also list the binder it is in (I also write the binder on the insert so I know where to return it). So: when I need a little girl stamp, a background image, or grass or sunshine or "love," I can type that word into my search box and it will show me all of my options and what binders they are in. I love my system and it has worked for close to ten years now! 👏🏼 I used the type of binders with cover openings, so I was able to decorate them and I put paper and each binder's number on the spine... pretty binders are more fun to use! 😁🙌🏼 (oh! I also use the kind of sheet protectors with the flap at the top so they don't fall out. I get them at the office supply stores.)

This is right up my alley. Just was looking at a couple stamp sets that I purchased at Hobby Lobby and Michael's before I knew you had designed your own, and really did not want to organize them in a container. So, yes love this idea.

I did this to my stamps about a year ago. I bought the cheap binders and then added paper to the front - I tried to match the paper on the outside to the contents of binder -some of them I've glued the paper down, because there's more than one subject in it. This helps me find what I'm looking for without having to go through each binder. This really helps me save time when looking for specific stamps. Good luck with your binder's. Tfs :)

Ha, Maymay, I just came across this as I want to put all my sentiment stamps in one place. I am also going to use acetate sheets to stick my stamps on. I just ordered a binder and protector sheets and the acetate from Amazon. This is exactly what I need. I do have the black embossing folder binders you used to sell on your store front online and use those for all your stamp sets.

I think this is a great idea Amy and if I would have so many stamps I would have done it this way too. Still might for some sets. I too use Avery pockets to store my stamps in the way Jennifer McGuire does. But I plan on getting notebooks and just stamping my stamps on the sheet in the notebook so I can flip through it to decided what stamps I want to use if that makes sense.

I use this size binder for dies. Works really well. If you have a large collection it could become very space greedy.

  • @dmaynardabu
    @dmaynardabu 8 лет назад

This is the way I use to store my stamps. However, my collection has grown quite a bit over the last 5 years. This no longer works for me. I use the fridge bins and the stamp sleeves (not sure that's the correct name) that Jennifer Mcquire uses. I also store my dies that way as well. If the stamp set has a matching die set then they go in the same sleeve. I separate them by manufacture and then put the stamps /dies in alphabetical order. This works great and they are easy to flip through. I also have a binder catalog (still a work in progress) but, I stamp each set onto white card stock and the place them in the binder in sections. The sections are of course by manufacturer, then I break them down into categories such as, alpha/numeric, Christmas , flowers, sentiments, etc. then I can go through the binder to see what stamps or dies I want to use and then go pull them from the bins.

I was so excited to see the title of this video in my feed. I am going through my stamps now. I love your binder (I'm very much a black and white girl), unfortunately I have tried this method with a larger page which contained clear and rubber stamps, sad to say it didn't work (probably user error). It was too bulky and the pages drooped because of the rubber stamp weight. I have way too many stamps, I want them in an order of relevance (sentiments, holidays, etc.). I love the neatness of yours, great job!

Hi Maymay ... I have some of my longer sets (like Inkadinkadoo) stored this way as well as my Tim Holtz ... the down side for me is that the binders don't hold many and I have MANY. I use the Avery Elle plastic protectors for all of my others and keep them in the fridge bin like Jennifer Maguire. The down side to that one, is it weighs a 1,000 lbs. because I have so many. I keep my wood stamps in the clear cases by Stampabilities and since I have 30+ cases, I scanned each case and labeled them by number. I have a notebook of the scanned images so I know what case each of my stamps are in so I can access them easily. Wow, I have a lot and I'm blessed to have and enjoy them all. Some would call me a hoarder ... but I've given away far more than I've kept. LOL!! Happy Friday.Jeri

Thats a great idea. I've been hunting for some ways to store my Stampin Up Stamps because those cases they come in take up a ton of room. After you take the stamps out of the rubber sheet, the box is half empty! Jennifer McGuire did a video awhile back on her stamp storage system that reminds me of yours a little bit. She uses "Avery Elle" stamp envelopes. You can slip coordinating dies into the back side of the envelope as another option. She stores her envelopes into "fridge binz" - but I think the size of the AE envelopes changed so not sure if they fit into the same dimensions you can get the fridge binz in now. I think you can get a pack of 25 envelopes for under $10. I ordered a pack on Amazon to see how sturdy they are. Right now I have all my photopolymer stamps hanging up on a Renee "Clip it Up" (another option). I'm really enjoying your videos! Oh, btw, the price you got for your binder was super, they are a lot more expensive at Office Depot, even for the plain white ones! You can get great deals for them on Amazon if you don't mind buying them in sets of 5.

Love this binder Maymay! I have been doing this for a while now for some of my stamps and some I have on a homemade clip it up that I made from a rotating shoe holder I got from WalMart. One thing I started doing this past year is I got this small binder and same clear protector sheets and just copied the stamps I have and I organize by designer and then I can flip through and find what stamp I want to use. I really like this and has been a big timer saver for me. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

I tried that system. The biggest problem I had was that my page protectors did not have 3-holes punched. So I had to punch extra holes. I also spent too much money on my binders. I learned that it is important to cut a piece heavy card stock or the pages were too floppy. I also had some rubber stamps, that they were fat and made things worse. I think this could work well the way May May did it. I would also mention there are differences in page protectors and pretty flimsy. Get the better ones. Another suggestion would be to take pictures so you h=can remember what you have and not buy duplicates.

Great video! I like the idea of your fast-drying glue. Checked your web page and it says it will "dry clear". Does it dry shiny? That's what I don't like about the clear glue I'm using now...if it peaks out past what I'm gluing down, it will dry clear...BUT...it will be shiny and more noticeable. Thanks for your help!

I love this idea for better organization. I'm thinking of trying this with my dies & magnetic sheets instead of card stock. Tfs, Cynthia :)

what magnetic sheets do you buy? I can't seem to find any that aren't really expensive.

@@DenCleBren I buy magnet sheet vent covers at walmart. I cut them in half. Pretty decent price. Hope that helps. Happy crafting :)

@@TheScrappyBookworm1 I went to Walmart to get some and they seemed pretty pricey but I was going to just bite the bullet and get them anyways and then as I was just roaming around looking through their craft section, I found these. They were 2 in a package and they were only 1.97 per package. :) oopppssss can't post a picture but they are GO Create Adhesive Magnetic Sheets. They are 5x8in. :)

If you don't want them to fall out, place a small Velcro at the top. The kind that just stick on.

the only thing I dont like about this system is the stamps have a tendency to fall out. of course I used really cheap sleeves which were flimsy and quite large but i think ill go back through them and try the smaller binders. Thanks alot for all you do

I use a similar system for my stamps, but really like yours better. I've been looking for a tab punch as you showed at the end of this video. Can you suggest where to find one like it? Thanks!
