Super idea! I bet you could put a piece of packaging or index card in the little sleeves that do not have the bigger pieces to help hold them up...in the event you use your stash down and things start to move!!!! lol :-)
OMG yes!! THIS!!! This is the way to go! And I would totally keep those flaps up too - so much easier and easy for popping back in as well! Thank you for this!
LOVE this. I am a "grab quickly", "rifle through" and "shove it back" kind of ephemera person and this looks great! I currently use this system, but mine are in glassine bags, but I like these clear bags much better!! TFS!
This also goes to prove a theory of mine: drawers are the best storage. Boxes are for carrying things around. Think of luggage, for example. You demonstrated it all! Drawers take less room, you’re more likely to get at the materials you need, organization within drawers is up to you, and the stuff simply disappears when it is not needed. Best of all, perhaps, is the fact that it remains always at hand-no lifting off cartons or a storage units so you can get to the next one, or the next. Too much work to get them out. Thanks for this video to remind us all. Drawers are the greatest! (Although I love closet space too, like hanging files of stencils on rods, and shelves for bulky equipment) I’m going to subscribe to your channel.Yes!
Just starting to explore ways of storing ephemera as my collection is beginning to grow a bit out of hand! This looks like a really good idea. I have several plastic baskets that I store stamps and dies in. Each one is in an Avery Elle pocket (dies held in place on a card insert with magnetic tape stuck onto it) with original packaging tucked in so I know what it is. I made laminated card dividers with labels that stick up above the pockets (flowers, circles, ovals, borders, etc. etc.). These baskets sit on the counter in my studio with space in front for other stuff or for working, and on a shelf above my main work area. I think I could use your system just fine, with another of these baskets, and continue with the same Avery Elle pockets and divider system. I could probably do the same with my collage scraps which are stuck in a poly wallet all muddled up - perhaps they should be sorted into colours? I certainly don't need to add any more bulk in my studio which is now overflowing with stuff and I seriously need to do a major purge!!! Thanks so much for sharing your brilliant idea.
Inspired me to do it my way..I’ve got some boxes that are long and narrow...I’m going to make my own envelopes with a die cut that will fit..leave the flap up with a label just like this. Thanks!!!
I'm loving this, the photo cases are great for ephemera storage but, like you said they take up so much space. I need to see my stash, so I can remember to use it. Brilliant idea! Thanks Toni, you rock😍
I'm laughing...I store my ephemera the way you used to....I thought about doing what you're doing now...but I worried that I'd make a mess of the drawers so I went with the boxes which helps me stay neat....but I see how much more the drawers hold. Nice share as always :) But I CLEARLY need to buy more ephemera when I get home.
So glad I saw your video. I just started storing my ephemera in cd cases. I do Junk Journaling and have the double sided cd cases from Staples so when I store my flower ephemera I can put pink roses on one side flip it over and yellow on the other. So many ways you can use these. I had the box cases to and now most of them are sitting empty. I agree cd cases are the way to go!
Hi Toni, I love this system and had started doing mine this way a few months ago. I also store my bling and dots this way. Soo much easier. I had those cases too and like you was rinning out of room. Im still in the process of getting it all together but am using it. Tfs. It got me stoked to organize again. Blessings, Pea
Wow that is a more effective way to store your ephemera. Now what to do with those three storage cases. Lol. Thank you for sharing such a great idea. Have a blessed day.
I still store the ephemera and little handmade embellishments in the small photo boxes just lined up in a dollar tree basket. I got sick of opening multiple boxes to get to one thing. The big cases now don't have the photo boxes in them but I used them for cards of ribbons and trim now. Took all ribbon etc off the spools and put onto a card. I now only have 1 box to open to find what I'm after. I spent No money. I used what I already had and didn't waste what I had, I just repurchased it. The dollar tree baskets used to house scrap pieces of paper. Meaning my scrap paper was OUT of CONTROL. I now allow myself 1 basket of scrap paper. When it is full, I don't allow myself to do any "new paper" projects until I burn through the scraps. I make embellishments, die cuts, just about anything I can come up that uses small paper pieces. If it's odd shaped I make it more regular shaped scraps that are usable but don't get hung on everything like how it is after you've used a paper punch, I cut that punched part off. I have what I call scrap buster dies like button dies, banners, small tags, hearts/ stars, tiny bow dies etc. I cut down the entire scrap box into something usable later. Builds my stash and gets rid of a problem at the same time.
I store mine in the photo boxes and just bought another at Michaels yesterday at 70% off. I split mine by category as well but I also have some for Christmas, fall, Halloween etc and just pull out a box as I’m crafting for that occasion
Good idea...now what to do with the old storage boxes...I am trying to organize all my stuff and decided to use clear aryclic boxes to store. This way I can see what I need and use it. It is really hard to be organized.
I purchased the same organizer from HL and I regrets not getting more cause you can fit a lot. I use mine for my flowers and enamel dots and I love it 🥰 I’m getting another one for my ephemera is a great idea. TFS 🤗
I have 6 of these and they are driving me nuts! I have them in 3 different areas..but I have NO MORE ROOM for modular units in my small room. Still a great idea though.Sandy
New subscriber here! I also tried those photo boxes for storing die cuts, punched shapes from gelli prints, etc. but ran into the same “human factors” issue as you: out of sight, out of mind. Too many stacked containers. Too much stuff! So your demo appeals to me as much more workable. Side note: I also used Velcro dots to close my Avery Elle clear envelopes that I use to store die sets and stamps. However, I soon realized that the dots I had gotten pulled off, leaving sticky glue and a mess. I keep them vertically in plastic bins, so they actually didn’t need to be sealed, saving a step. Anyway, your video on using CD envelopes for ephemera looks very workable, so thanks!
Yes! I do the same thing, I buy something to store things in...But then it turns out too much effort to get to. I need to rethinks so many things. TY so much
This is awesome!! I have the CD sleeves..and that's the God honest truth I hardly touch my photo cases and just brought another one from Walmart for emphemra. Tsm Toni!!
Great video. Why do we need so much empherma? I cannot stop buying it LOL I just started scrapbooking in Nov. I don't want to get to the point where I don't use half of it. I'm using Cigar boxes right now for storage. My husband keeps saying More Stuff? you have so much but i keep watching U tube and I keep buying more!! He said last night as long as it doesn't become a addiction. LOL LOL LOL
Love this idea! I’m going to do this once I set up my craft area. I have to move it all from my parents place. I would also alphabetize it lmao my ocd kicks in
Super idea! I bet you could put a piece of packaging or index card in the little sleeves that do not have the bigger pieces to help hold them up...in the event you use your stash down and things start to move!!!! lol :-)
Love love love!! Not only the idea but the quick, concise video!!❤
OMG yes!! THIS!!! This is the way to go! And I would totally keep those flaps up too - so much easier and easy for popping back in as well! Thank you for this!
I’m currently pulling my hair out trying to come up with good ephemera storage...problem SOLVED!!! Thanks SO MUCH for sharing! 😃❤️🔆
LOVE this. I am a "grab quickly", "rifle through" and "shove it back" kind of ephemera person and this looks great! I currently use this system, but mine are in glassine bags, but I like these clear bags much better!! TFS!
Great idea. Glad you added the part that when they were in the photo cases you didn't use them. Thank you so much for sharing!
Great idea and like the condensing your materials. I might try this.
Amazing that all three things fitted into just one drawer! Wow, tfs x

Wow...love your idea. It's hard to believe you had three boxes of ephemera and now just a drawer. Love the idea! Hooray! Have a marvelous week!

That is a good way to store ephemera. I use the photo case to store flowers.
