I know this is old, but this video is a great help to me in 2020. I’m looking at getting the console 1 in the next two months. (On tour at the mo) The comparison between it an Logic swayed me. I’d be interested to know how automation is implemented while using the console 1 in your DAW. GREAT WORK.
I do Automation as you would with any session. Now if i need to do some automation on the console 1, eq, comp and so on. I open the plug on the channel just like you wold any plug. and click my mouse on the plug and move what ever im needing to add automation on. Just like if you would open a verb and click and tweek a knob. I have never gotten it to work if i spin a knob on the console 1. prob something im missing. also Presonus Studio 1 and i think qbase has better integration. It's not Softubes fault its Logic that need to update. at least thats what i have been told. Just look on youtube for videos on console 1 deep integration or something like that... Hope this helps.
Yes then lindell would be nice but i dont have it. It a channel strip i put the softube console 1 one every track i love it still after 4 or 5 years. It does not hit my CPU hard at all. Thanks Again Rhett
Amazing Video mate! I'm so glad I stumbled on your videos after falling deep into an hour long RUclips spiral on the "Console 1 MKII". Planning to pick up this unit in the summer. I would like to know what Monitors do you use? And can you do a metal song mix on the Console One? Thanks! and Cheers from India.
Raghu Ganapathy Im using the JBL LSR308 and I like them. They are not over the top expensive. You might find a deal on them because they have the new JBL 308P MKII 8. i think what ever one you would go with would be fine. Your next question! Can you mix metal on the console 1. Yes i would think so, many records have been mixed on the E series. You can mix a song with stock plugs. But the console 1 is such a great tool. It's on almost every mix that i have produced from day one and it sounds great. I'm old school and it just feels like your mixing. Hope you have a great weekend! Rhett
I don't know I have not worked on the HS5s, however i have on the NS-10s and hated them, The NS 10s are a staple but they just tire my ears, I know if you can make a record sound good on them your mix is prob rocking. but I also know more of my buddies are going with the new JBLs. Just go give them a listen at the music store. I could be wrong but the HS5s highs are less harsh then the NS-10s. Have a good day Raghu Ganapathy gotta fly till later tongiht... TTYL
I prob spent around $500. I had a friend that had a few boxes so i traded work to get it. Its nothing fancy but that would be one of the first investments i would make.
I forgot to also tell you that i use the console 1 still every day. I would be lost mixing with out it. Im old school and my old brain loves it.. LOl Thanks Again,,
For my ear, you have to much hi on cymbals and ohm, and they are little to loud. But I realize this is not final mix. Nice video. I bought softube console 1, and I find this video best on showing what it can do, rather than just bla bla about it. I hate review when they just talk about things most musicians in studio already know, and not just put things running so we can see how they sound, when tweak, when compress etc.
Hi DcoverZ im using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 at the moment. I don't track in my room just mix. It sounds ok for the money. Thanks for asking and have a good weekend..Rhett
Fantastic mix! I’ve had console 1 for a few years and recently just got the fader. This gives me a lot of inspiration. Thanks!
Great to hear!
I'd say this is the best video about the console 1 on RUclips.
Great work! Now I want this unit :)
Thanks Pitch Black Aura for the kind words. I love the console 1 and still use it every day.
Im sure it was Slate drums mix out to wav.. at the time i was just showing people how i use the console one.
SOLD!!! That workflow (and sound)...takes me back to my old Mackie 8-Buss days of knob twiddling..Now I want! Thanks! (Smashes piggy bank) ;-)
Ya it Great
That was really amazing! Thanks!!!
What settings did you used on Console1 for the master stereo out channel? i don't like hh and snare sound on my Dynaudio anyway great job!
Thanks BlueTiger. Sorry I don't recall the setting. I almost picked up the BM15A. Thanks Again! Rhett
