What do I do? You sound amazing but then you mentioned who your father is and he has been embarrassing the Jews. Bad representation. Do you have the same views as him?
How do you call yourself a feminist but yet believe in Judaism’s holy texts and make those two things work in your mind. I thought they put women in second class status. I know there is a prayer that Jews used to and orthodox still do, where the man thanks god for not making him a woman. This is a genuine question from someone who doesn’t know that much about the Torah/Hebrew Bible, I’ve only read the Quran and New Testament.
You're correct that Judaism does have a prayer recited daily by men thanking G-d for not having made them a woman. There is also a prayer recited daily by women thanking G-d for having made us according to His will. At first glance I know this can sound concerning but it's not meant to put women down, but rather to make men appreciate the way they were created. Jewish men are bound by many mitzvot, commandments, and it can be easy to slip into resenting having so many obligations. The prayer is to help men appreciate the commandments they have that only men are obligated to do. As for Jewish holy texts, they do not make women "second class citizens". In fact, women are highly prized and valued in Judaism. We believe that women are naturally on a higher level than men and are, from birth, closer to G-d. That's why men have so many more commandments than women --- they need constant reminders to connect with G-d, and women don't because they're naturally more spiritual. More examples of the way Judaism values women: Every Friday night as Jewish families welcome in the Sabbath, husbands sing their wives a song from Proverbs: 31, called "Eshet Chayil", "Woman of Valor", praising their wives with lines such as "far above precious stones is her value", "she girds her loins with strength and flexes her arms", and "many daughters have done worthily, but you surpass them all". Also, Judaism teaches that blessings enter the home through the woman. Many very ugly things have been said about how Judaism treats women but they are twisted and misinterpreted. Of course, there are cases here and there where women have been mistreated, but that's not what Judaism teaches, and what community exists where bad things never happen? I hope this helps.
The Torah protects the women more than any religion. The reason as to why Jewish men say that prayer regarding not being created a woman is because woman are not obligated to fulfill the commandments that are time bound. Because they are usually busy tending to their families needs. Men on the other hand are obligated to keep the Commandments that are time bound which gives them more merits. The Torah tells us that Women are born on much higher level than men so they don’t need to observe many of the 613 commandments in order to gain a spiritual elevation.
