Something to do with their character designs. Joker’s phantom thief design is very recognizable, while the other two protagonists’ designs are less so. Instead Teddie and Aegis have designs that can be recognized much more easily can thus be better recreated in a bot form.

So no Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy cameos. I’m leaning toward the money thing. I can imagine for Astro Bot’s first OFFICIAL game (since I don’t count the demo as something official) and a team of 60 people, there wasn’t a big enough budget for whatever amount Square would’ve asked for.

@@bvman2143 I cut out the rest of the Loco Roco cameos as they were just coloured blobs with little distinction to them (and he accidentally skipped two without reading their flavour text). And I cut out the ones in the Horizon-themed stage save the one because Nico says in that clip that he has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA who any of them were as he’s never played the game before. It’s a shame two of the themed levels were misses for him since they are almost like rewards for finishing a galaxy. But I also don’t expect him to know EVERY game in Playstation’s history. He still had fun with them regardless. I was SUPER tempted to replace the Loco Roco cameos with how often Nico hummed the stage song (it was a super catchy ear worm of a theme) and how often Nico played with the slow-mo on the Horizon stage. But it didn’t match the vid so I just cut it out entirely.
