The bass on my earphones does no justice to a live concert. I bet the contra bombardes on this organ are simply amazing. Thank you for the upload. One of my favorite meat-and-potatoes pieces.
This is one, if not... THEE best performance of this work I've EVER heard... I played it last year (with the b minor Sonata on piano)... and this on organ and I listened to MANY performances as perp work... and some quite good... but... this could be the best...? i wish I would have had a chance to hear this last year...
the orchestra i work with will be rehearsing it, never heard it before or of it. tx for uploading, should be fun, let you know how it goes with reh and performance! cheers
Some of the people who play this piece rush the pedal notes alot and go to fast but in this recording this guy is really playing it how it should be with the feeling of music.
Does anybody know what timbre should we use in order to deliver the piece as this video does? We have different types of organ (reed, pipe, etc.) Does anybody know the answer?
A very good execution, in my opinion a little fast, mainly on certain points..... Bu definitely one of the best executions I've heard. To me, nearly as Roth's execution.
cette enregistrement ne fait pas honneur à Liszt... il n'y a aucune variation de rhytme entre les mouvement, et la registration type "grosse artillerie" n'est pas très adapté...
The late John Scott made, what is for me, the best performance of this at St Pauls in London
The ending is actually the best part of the work. Best primary example of colouristic chord succession.

Very well performed, just as it should, not to fast and with proper melodic line.
Easy to follow, well phrased and separated. Excellent!
It is a Tracker (mechanical) pipe organ! If you listen very closely you can actually hear the trackers! Very nice!
Nothing short of absolutely astounding!

I don't know a lot about it, but I don't think it is a commercial recording. Thanks for comment.

EXECUTION ?? Death ?? !!!!!
6 second echo
A rough guess: Günther Kaunzinger on the organ in Waldsassen...? Certainly a clear sound... a remarkable recording...
Orleans Cathedral - Marie-Claire Alain
sounds like it was recorded at st milans cathedral because it has the same type of tracker.

@@doctorfoster1968 amazing, didn't expect a reply 9 years later! Thank you so much!
@jodielariviere Yes I am interested!
@elbarto02 Je suis d'accord pour les tempi, mais ton analyse sur la "grosse artillerie" me semble très subjective.
At what organ was this recorded at, I need to know NOW!!!!!.(Tim.)
