  • Discover the inspiring stories behind the Demining and Increasing The Border Surveillance Capacity at the Eastern Borders of Türkiye - Phase 3 project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in collaboration with the Turkish Mine Action Center. This project has not only made significant strides in clearing 4.2 million square meters of minefields but has also created around 300 jobs in the eastern frontier region. Among these, meet Türkiye’s first two female civilian mine detection dog handlers, Ayşe Kılıç and Merve Çakan.
Follow Ayşe and Merve as they share their daily experiences, the unique personalities of their mine detection dogs, and the challenges and joys of their work. Hear how this project has not only provided crucial employment opportunities but also fostered an international perspective for the young Turkish women. Learn about the impact of this initiative, breaking gender stereotypes and paving the way for women in a traditionally male-dominated field.
Join us in celebrating their accomplishments, proving that Turkish women are not just breaking barriers; they are successfully leading the way.
