    I commend how you were so thorough in your explanations of each facet of this simple but critical task. You presented all presedures in easy, layman terms. I also appreciate the absence of obnoxious music, comedic presentation, and the fact that you speak so clearly at a comfortable audibal level.

    Thanks for reminding me about resetting the torque wrench. It's been so long that I forgot about that step!

    I always get nervous towards the end of the torque because sometimes it can feel as if we’re over tightening it.

    I have to play with this to commit it to memory! Excellent video btw and the boot is extremely important and makes the job much easier (socket for spark plug) my spark plugs need the boot socket because I can't get my fingers in far enough to turn the plug by hand.

    As a woman….I was so scared to use a torque wrench. After this…..I’m gonna do my own tuneup this year

    The haynes book that I bought for my vehicle did not have the torque specs for my spark plugs and it's the whole reason why I bought it.

    Happy Sunday morning to U, quick question, what size torque wrench are U using?

  • @petaljuice
    @petaljuice Год назад +1

    The spark plug dry torque spec for my cast iron cylinder head vehicle is 13 lbs/ft. Since I wil be using grease on the spark plug threads to keep rust away I plan on reducing the torque to 10 lbs/ft. Thoughts?

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  Год назад

      Reducing the torque is not a bad idea since the grease will reduce the force. You don’t want to risk over tightening

    It's 1/2 or 3/8?

  • @DavidTMSN
    @DavidTMSN 8 месяцев назад

    What I don't understand is why the spark plug wobbles in the tube after it's already caught threads when tightened by hand.
    Mine have crush washers/gaskets - and every time I get close to bottoming out the plug I cannot tell if I've cross threaded before applying 3/8 torque wrench because there's all sorts of movement.

    How do you know when to stop torque

    • @PhillipsVision
      @PhillipsVision  2 года назад +2

      Set the torque wrench and it will click when the pounds are met

  • @JohanLaujojo
    @JohanLaujojo Год назад

    Extension will cause over torque , let say manual say 20 Nm , if you use extension and set 20Nm ,it will actually around 25Nm

    • @luanpham7469
      @luanpham7469 10 месяцев назад +3

      No, I don't think so. The extension make easier for your move but inside it's working same as it set to.

      @@stevenkirsch7525 none of my vehicles call for ft/in, but if your do then follow that spec. Manufacturer spec is usually ft/lbs
