I commend how you were so thorough in your explanations of each facet of this simple but critical task. You presented all presedures in easy, layman terms. I also appreciate the absence of obnoxious music, comedic presentation, and the fact that you speak so clearly at a comfortable audibal level.
I have to play with this to commit it to memory! Excellent video btw and the boot is extremely important and makes the job much easier (socket for spark plug) my spark plugs need the boot socket because I can't get my fingers in far enough to turn the plug by hand.
The spark plug dry torque spec for my cast iron cylinder head vehicle is 13 lbs/ft. Since I wil be using grease on the spark plug threads to keep rust away I plan on reducing the torque to 10 lbs/ft. Thoughts?
What I don't understand is why the spark plug wobbles in the tube after it's already caught threads when tightened by hand. Mine have crush washers/gaskets - and every time I get close to bottoming out the plug I cannot tell if I've cross threaded before applying 3/8 torque wrench because there's all sorts of movement.

@@johnfranklin685 Thanks for the feedback 👍
Thanks for reminding me about resetting the torque wrench. It's been so long that I forgot about that step!
I always get nervous towards the end of the torque because sometimes it can feel as if we’re over tightening it.
You made it so easy to understand. Thanks.

As a woman….I was so scared to use a torque wrench. After this…..I’m gonna do my own tuneup this year
Awesome, glad it helped
Thanks man 👍👍👍 that was very Helpful 😃
Very helpful. Thank you!
Thanks this is going to be so helpful tomorrow!
The haynes book that I bought for my vehicle did not have the torque specs for my spark plugs and it's the whole reason why I bought it.
Me 2. I have 2 books and can't read them haha
mines gave me the WRONG specs so consider yourself lucky Haynes sux!
Happy Sunday morning to U, quick question, what size torque wrench are U using?
1/2”

Reducing the torque is not a bad idea since the grease will reduce the force. You don’t want to risk over tightening
Thank you sir, great video!
Glad it helped👍
Owner manual says 15-22NM but spark plug says 28NM. Which one should I use ?
Follow the owners manual
So does the extension change the amount of torque put on the spark plug?
Thank you sir do I need to do that to my torque wrenches when not using if so how often ?
Just before use
Thank you sir for the speedy response
Do those manuals work for infiniti cars ?
Do you use different (or less) torque when you re-torque plugs?
I don’t, I use the recommended anytime
My 50 year old snap on wrench said to smack the base on a hard surface when at 0
Is this the HarborFreight torque wrench
Yes
Amazing video
Thanks man

I prefer the old type torque wrench, to make sure. 😅
Thank you!
Thank you
How do you know when to stop torque
Set the torque wrench and it will click when the pounds are met
Extension will cause over torque , let say manual say 20 Nm , if you use extension and set 20Nm ,it will actually around 25Nm
No, I don't think so. The extension make easier for your move but inside it's working same as it set to.
Show how to remove a stuck spark plug.
dude idk about me but it looks like you over tighten the shit out of them
They are torqued to spec
@@PhillipsVision I think it should be ft/inches instead of ft/lbs.
@@stevenkirsch7525 none of my vehicles call for ft/in, but if your do then follow that spec. Manufacturer spec is usually ft/lbs
