This is by far the most requested video for Project Eris on the Playstation Classic so far.
This video will show you step by step, how to get Emulation Station running properly on the Playstation Classic. Consider purchasing one of the WiFi dongles below and the octopus OTG adaptor from down below if you don't already have one. They will come in handy down the road with Emulation Station specifically. Happy gaming!

Your videos are the best! You helped me get Project Eris and Emulation Station up and running 100%. Simple, easy to follow, professional. Thank you so very much!
Thanks for the video(s). I've been waiting so long for ES on PSC and now that it's here, I can't find the time/will to do this.
Perfect for enjoying quarantine
ive tried a few other videos but nothing is helping right now.
everytime i boot ES it just goes black for about 2 secs and takes me back to the boot menu.
Yeah idk what I'm doing wrong. Followed multiple tutorials but the games are just NOT booting when I click them in Emulation Station. I just get a black screen.
Thanks for this. I love my ps classic so much right now and project eris just made it into an awesome emulator machine. Hoping we would have a ps2 classic in a few years.
based on rom size i doubt we will ever have a ps2 classic.
I mean it can be possible but it would probably be the most expensive mini console.
Thanks alot for the video! The cores were my biggest cause for confusion. I'll be looking forward for skraper to be back up and running!
instablaster.
Just starting out, just got my PlayStation classic…. Thought it’d be a cool hobby…. Looking forward to more videos and seeing what I can do…
You're the man! Thanks for always helping us out 🙏
I can't make ES to work it keeps saying "we can't find any systems" I've done all the steps in the video but can't get it working.
So I did all that and downloaded the cores and such but I couldn't get the games to load on Emulation Station. However it DID work on Retroarch. But Emulation Station is SOOOO much more asceticaly pleasing. I need help...
nice video.. will check this out. Sooo this or retroarch? are they essentially the same thing?
how do I get n64 games to play on playstation classic using emulation station...I dumped them into the roms folder but they don't load
what about mame roms? there is no folder for them so ES cant run them. I had to create a manual playlist in retroarch but each game lists the abbreviated file names so its hard to tell what the games actually are.
Did you ever get an anser to this I would like to know too. I prefer ES to Retroarch.
@@bencalantas4569 i stuck to retroarch as ES was choosing the wrong cores. when it came to the ps1 games, that needed retroarch for the new updated HD cores.
I’ve done everything right but emulationstation still says it can’t find any systems I have the core paths right I don’t understand maybe you could help?
What should I use to play Saturn games with? I have them as bin/cue files and they show up fine on my PE desktop app but I cannot play them on the console.
Hi ! I have a problem when I am running my roms from ES on the PS classic, I always have a black screen and the gables never started, can you help me to fix it plz?
Dreamcast & N64 Games are not working i click on the game takes me back to the loading screen i downloaded all the cores ?
whenever I click a game in the ES, it just stays there, doesn't actually load the game, but the games load flawlessly when I run them directly through the emulator on the main screen in Eris. Any help?
wait the games show up for you in Eris? Like on the carousel menu?
@@MasterDuelCentral I don't use it anymore so i'm not sure, sorry!
@@ModifiedMike oh its ok! I figured out how to set all that up
Thanks man, this sorted out the problem I had, SUB added. :)
The main menu has RetroArch and EmuStation, aren't they basicly doing the same but with a different skin ?
How do you add the internal playstation games to Emulationstation? Is it possible at all? They show up in Retroarch without needing to do anything, but not in ES. Do I need to do anything special for multidisc playstation games in ES? Also having some issues with my 8bitdo M30 bluetooth controller. Emulationstation is not picking up some of the buttons on it when configuring inputs. Will not register right shoulder button for some reason for instance. It is autodetected and works in Retroarch, but not in Emulationstation. And scraping in ES does not seem to work like you said.
The answer is to wait for an update. Notice the version number is only 0.9.0. You have to realize that they basically released this unfinished so that gamers can play and enjoy it right away, and because much of it is already up and running quite well. It also allows for all the users to report to them any bugs they may come across. They are working on all of this stuff as fast as possible I'm sure, you just need to be patient. For now, you'll have to work around those issues as best you can.
Theres no longer an 'all zip', what do I do? I don't know which one is which.
There is _allcores.zip file in so folder
@@Lako1986 where?
@@OwlWithChainsaw classicmodscloud.com/classic_libretro/stable/PlayStation_Classic/so/_ALLCORES.ZIP
What about actual roms I can’t find any good roms seems like the extensions are always wrong like .bin etc
The PS4 controller I hooked up using USB won't configure at all, I can press the x button and it says PS4 Wireless Controller, but I cannot configure it.
You need an Bluetooth Adapter Controller
Perfect instructions, thanks!
I cannot get the Dreamcast Flycast to work. I have copied the all cores to the right folder and also put bios files in the right folder/location. When I click on a game in ES, nothing happens. I also cannot load the flycast core in Retroarch . It comes up with no core. I tried it with other cores and they load fine. Any ideas? I suppose a wifi dongle will sort it by downloading the DC core.
The roms are in the roms folder . The cores are in the cores folder and ......nothing ...as usual . The games go to black , then back again . The main issue is getting the cores to work in emulation station. In Retroarch I can navigate to the games and assign a core every single time I play , but the games do not play in emulation station . Getting the damned cores working is an enormous problem . The endless confusing menus don’t really help either. I understand this is a geek build , but this is wasting a LOT of time just getting it up and running !
Did you find any solutions? I have the same problem!
@@shibboshibbo Not as yet, I can even run an n64 in retroarch (usually with very little controller inputs enabled) ,emulation station has never run anything with ANY N64 core. Discord is completely useless. A simple comment board would work a lot better. The routine is the same. Get enough patience to study a video or two , follow every step , nothing works .This reminds me of those old 150 in one kits from Radio Shack , only there's a wire out of place somewhere and the instruction manual is missing.
@@Umbargist have bios files installed as well?
A few questions:
- Can a mouse be used for a light gun game such as Duck Hunt or Hogan's Alley? I know there aren't many of them, but thought it doesn't hurt to ask.
- For computer emulation such as the Atari 800, and mouse based computers like the Atari ST & the Amiga, would the Multi USB OTG adapter serve to host a keyboard & mouse/2nd controller?
- Can the Commodore 64, Apple ][ or other classic computers be emulated? Same question about the keyboard & 2nd controller.
Thanks for the always helpful tutorials & reviews!
Bro check his recent vid there’s lightgun support now
Hey dude, can you make a video showing how to replace internal games with the toolset mod, can you please teach us how to do it, I tried the bleemsync replacement process to no avail, :$
Hi friend! How do you make game & watch running? I have the core and I have paste the roms into the specific folder...and when I power on the console I can see the game & watch on the menu, I can see the games but when I try to play them a black screen apeares and after that it sends me back to the menu. What shuld I do?? Do I need a bios file for this in order to work?? Thx!
would this work copying over with autobleem instead of bleemsync? because im using autobleem on my classic.
have been try upload with various of usb thumb drive from 4gb to 64gb and it still wont work like nothing happens~Being using the the PE 9.5 full package~Or im gonna need a 128gb thumb drive?
damn now I kind of want a Playstation Classic
Yeah now is time for people who can't afford that mini system at release date.
IMO the playstation classic is the best mini system to date
You should have bought on when they bottomed out at $20! I grabbed two for the hell of it for extra controllers and just to play in another room or on the go or maybe a gift.
@@Restalgia eh that would be the Megadrive Mini for me. Sega CD and MSX on that are fun
@@yournightmare9999 it's still pretty cheap too compared to the other minis
How do I get my PS1 games to show in Project Eris or Emulation Station? I've left them in the Games folder on the root and put them in the psx in the roms file put I can't seem to get them to show up. The work if I just load the in Retroarch.
Ive upgradet from Bleemsync to Project Eris, and i downloadet the cores ect. everything looks fine. But i dont have a system folder....where can i put the bios if needed?UPDATE: now ive heard you saif i should create a system folder, ok thx.
how can I add boxarts to the games in es or retroarch ? and for some reason, i played Mario kart 64 on retroarch which ran just fine, but on es it was lagging and bugging and wasn't as smooth. (I have all the cores and all the bios)
Any guide for Amiga games va ES? I have tried to get it to work but no success so far :( I have placed kickstart files and cores files in correct folders, but games refuse to start. GBA, NES, SNES and Mega Drive games work just fine.
For some reason, after I configure my PS classic controller, the d pad doesn’t respond. Every other button works. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
i have the same problem pls help
When I start a game (except for psx and gb) with emulation station, the screen will turn black for one or two seconds and then it'll go back to the game list in emulation station. How can I fix this? I have all the cores.
Can we get a response to this???
@@VideoVerse 10 months with no response. Nice, I'm having this issue right now. I think it's a bios issue.
My cores extract as Adobe Acrobat files and they do not work when I transfer them over. Is there an easy way to correct this?
Thank you!
There is DOSbox for RetroArch, but where do I put the games for that? No DOS folder in the ROMS folder. Just creating one? Same for some other cores...
I've got a DosBox and windows 3.11 bundled video coming out next week. Hopefully that will cover your questions
@@Restalgia Thanks! Already hyped :-D
For those without the wifi dongle, is there a program I can use on my laptop to scrape the data and save it on my USB?
David Gill skraper
Great videos. Very helpful and are user friendly. For some reason the only issue for me is that I am unable to configure my controller (ps one classic controller that came with the purchase) it recognized the inputs but asks me if I want to "exit emulator" or "shutdown". Or just hit the "B" button. I've tried all 3 options but doesn't seem to save. Even went as to try another PHONE classic controller and I got the same issue. May you assist?
how its works? i mean i use emulationstation, and go to the game, but when i leave the game send me to retroarch (i need quit retroarch to back to emulatiostation), its anyway to instead retroarch back to emulatiostation?
My n64 games keep defuakting to a core that doesn't run well I can change that in retroarch but how do I set then permanently for emulation station?
Once you change them in RA, you need to save the new configuration. You can also adjust the default core for the specific Playlist (assuming you've made one). In either scenario, you need to enter the configuration settings and save the new config file
@Restalgia ok two questions and I'm out of your hair, hpw do you save the configuration in r.a is there save button?
And when I create Playlist I can just label them the systems I'm using like the way I do on the p.c when I click on show desktop menu?
@@maximusthecannabist5170 After you've made all of your configurations, go to the RetroArch Main Menu > Configuration File > Save Current Configuration.
For Playlist, you would scan the directory and it would automatically make the Playlist. If you manually scan the directory you can also manually assign a core for the entire Playlist.
@@Restalgia thank you
I have a question,If I decide to use another flash drive that has more space after installing Project eris and the kernel file ,can I just copy all the files to another flash drive? would that work?
yes
Cant play fba emulator ? Because i have core fba but not running game like blazing star and avp 😞🙁
much thanks great work man
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi I hope you can help me for the configuration of the controller I can set the buttons but when left thurb arrives it freezes why?
Is there a way to manually add artwork? I currently dont have a WiFi dongle to mess about with.
There is a way, but it's kind of longwinded. Basically, in your .emulationstation folder, there should be a folder titled "downloaded_images" (without the quotes). Make sure that you put the images into folders in there that are named the exact same as the rom folders for Emulation station, then you have to edit the gamelist xml files for each console to manually tie each image in. There is a youtube video that has been uploaded that shows how to do this, but I don't know if it would be considered kind of rude to link to it in this comment section.
@@Grayfox176 I think I know which video you mean. I have a problem as I dont currently have a laptop. If that is the only way then that is sort of a bummer. Do you happen to know which (if any) WiFi dongles work? Do they need to be low volt like the USBs had to be? Or does it bypass this now you have updated it to Project Eris?
I cannot get Saturn or DS games to run correctly. The Saturn games run in slow motion. I've tried multiple emulators and added bios'. Nothing works. I'm ready to give up and go back to stock then seeing if Bleemsync is better.
If you have all the cores, how does Emulation Station know which core to use for a specific system?
Please can you help me, where to put the downloaded PSX covers for Retroarch ??? Thank you so much
what goes in the system folder? i already have the .z64 file in the rom folder. i just want to be able to play n64 games can someone help?
Hi I've project eris 1.0 I've done all this but games still don't boot up in emulation Station. Any help be appreciated 🙏
How do you get the cheats to work?
I am them to my database and turn them on but nothing??
I'm on an og Xbox
Will this method work as well with Autobleem? I'm using Autobleem rn on my PSC.

How bad would it be if I attempted to run Saturn games? What I mean is how bad is the emulation? Are we talking a few frames a second, slide show, bugs, and crashes?
EmulationStation does not work. I added just Atari 2600 and it's not picking up the Retroarch stella core. Using Project Eris only. Please make an updated video. I can load them directly from Retroarch. But the idea is to use EmulationStation. Everything is 11 months to a year old. Hellooooooooooo.
anything on adding covers to project eris? ive tried screen scraper however it wont boot properly
my super nintendo games wont work but do i need that wireless thingy to get them to work?
How do you get Sega CD running on Emulation Station? I am only run the games through Retroarch.
does it grab/ download the same cores if you have networking enabled?
Does anybody know which WiFi dongles actually work with the playstation classic? I'm looking at buying a cheap one but don't want to commit just incase it wouldn't work for some reason.
Could you use a powered USB hub rather than the OTG adapter? I realize it would mean one more power supply, but I have several of them around already and wondering what other advantage the OTG might have. And has the scraper started working?
Yes, powered hub is a great alternative to getting around the power limits
why would I want to have ALL the cores when I only want cores for SNES and NES??? Why is there no documentation on which cores are for which systems etc....
In name to add quarters it usually uses select. If I use select as a hot key is that going to mess it up?
Thanks! I have the official KickStart roms for the Amiga but I placed them in System but starting doesnt start the game. I renamed them kick....rom any hint/tip?
Ramond de Vrede my guess is bios files man, you probably need one to run amiga
I foud really difficult set up neo geo games, I did everithing sait on the video, but when I go for play appear black screen and then back to menu, please help!!!
Neo geo requires a bios to be added. So you need to add that in the systems folder for retroarch. Then it should launch
@@Restalgia hi, I tried, with different bios, but nothing, there is something I am missing?
What all the core names for nes, snes, mega drive gb,gb color.advance?they delete the all core Zip
Just one question, can you save games from emulation station?
Well that's all good but the Zip file you are showing us here is no longer THERE...Sooo Were can we go to find out what CORES are actaully needed? Is there a file or list some were that will tell us what CORE is needed for each system or do we guess? I looked through the file tree and there are SO many cores that have say SNES in the file name...GREAT so just get them all...I mean I love bloated file systems...
i did everything you said and the games still fade to black then back to menu when launched ( didnt download bios because currently trying to play n64 games which dont require them) what do i do
Do you havebthe correct core? You may need to assign the n64 core specifically to those games.
Also you n64 games should not be in a compressed state. Should be unzipped.

For whatever reason I can not get hot keys working in Emulationstation. Once I launch a game the only way to exit is to use the controller shortcut to get to the Retroarch menu, then manually exit Retroarch and it dumps me back to Emulationstation. Anyone else have this issue? I've set the hot key enable to multiple different buttons in Emulationstation and none of them have ever worked.
That's normal for this build. We dont have retropie running, ES is just the front end for retroarch.
