The AI just adjusts the timing, not the functionality of the traffic flows. It can only increase or decrease the length of a red light, not turn all lights green at once. For example if it's 4 AM and your car is the only one on the road visible to the system. It will turn all cross-traffic lights red and let you continue without stopping.
I'm all for it, but I think they should simulate entire cities first, then just apply the result to all traffic lights so it has fixed timings, but based on the improved AI simulation.
Eventually (not that far from now) vehicles will be all autonomous. Tell it where to go and sit back. No crazy drivers or someone going 10 mph in a 40 zone. Distance between cars will be standard, speed exact. Rather boring but safe. Insurance rates should plummet but I'm sure they will have a way to get around that!!
@@oldmanjimh3165 I'm hoping to see the same as you, but I also think it's quite far from realisation. Maybe they'll make special lanes for autonomous vehicles, but unless they make them extremely affordable, I can't imagine someone from a rural area to buy themselves an autonomous car instead of a rusty moped. Another problem would be speeding bikers, doing lane splitting and similar maneuvers.
We got AI traffic lights before GTA 6 💀
Lights could be timed much better but AI is scary. If it is hacked, look out for crashes. Then who is at fault???

Maybe they'll be hovercraft!
