Just use a battle simulator like Pokemon Showdown to get the hang of making teams. It takes a couple of tries to get the art down, and it's easier to get through those couple tries when making a team costs you 20 minutes as opposed to 20 hours.

I do think Jacob’s biggest weakness in this game is his cockiness. I feel like that’s what keeps him being a relatively average competitive pokemon player, every time he does alright he acts like he’s invincible. He’s like the real life Hop: mid tier with an Icarus complex.
You know it's kind of funny when you think about Beat Up. When you use it the description of the move mentions how the party comes out and beats up the target. Since you have it targeted against your own Lucario it means it beats itself up.
