Absolutely love into the void! Theme carries it a lot for me and I love the ambush mechanic. That's what I love about this series, something for everyone ✨
I'd love to see a fully edited play through of your 2 favorites! Your Final Girl vids have convinced me to give the game a try. I think I'm going to take your advice and start with Hans the Butcher first. But Yes, I'd love to see full play through!
I finally caved and got final girl after seeing all the hype. I started with Hans and the Wolf and after my first play immediately went out to get the poltergeist 😅. It's taking so much restraint to not go out at get more 😬
I don't know how but I just picked up your top 3 from B&N, not knowing ahead of time they were your top 3. Now I'm even more excited to play all of them.
I would love to see a fully edited playthrough! Final Girl is a favorite of mine, too (I also went all in; even the vehicle minis add to the experience), so I would love any other Final Girl content you want to put up. I missed the Discord poll, but I think my personal #1 is A Knock at the Door. Love having the 3 killers!
I don’t really think there is a “best”, they’re all fantastic and together they’re the “best”. The endless combinations of stuff that you can play is just amazing.
not-Alien and not-The Thing are actually the reasons I jumped in during the s.2 KS, so I'm a little bummed that they ranked so low. TBF I haven't played them yet; I'm still getting my feet wet (with BLOOD!?) vs. Hans, Dr. Fright, and The Intruders all of which have been fun as heck. You know I'm down for more playthroughs! I'll miss Final Girl Fridays.
I'm kind of stunned they ranked so low, TBH. They're favorites of mine and my friends, and the USS Konrad works great with other killers in particular, because there are so many different environmental features to it. I like throwing Hans in there for a "Jason X" experience, but it's brutally difficult! Based on what you like so far, I think you're going to enjoy them.
I just got done playing the not-Alien one and it’s freaking awesome. I was skeptical going in, because I like traditional horror a little bit more. But I absolutely adored this game. It’s really about what kind of story you’re interested in and what kind of game mechanics you might like. It’s fun to have the alien evolve over time and there’s lots of things to do in this specific game. I recommend playing the Alien soundtrack and making up scenarios in your head about why you had to leave characters behind or how you were able to get away. The game does much of the story telling for you, but using your imagination and visualizing what’s happening is half the fun.
Kinda funny that this went up today, because I actually had ordered final girl last night and got 3 boxes to try. Happened to get your numbers 2, 3, and 4😄. If I like it, your number 1 is next on my buy list because the theme really draws me in on that one!
I just got the core box and Happy Trails from season 1 and played through it last weekend and it was not a happy ending haha. I had a great time playing, but I think I’ll watch some of your playthroughs to see other strategies I might be missing. And who knows, maybe I’ll start to pick up more copies down the road.
I really enjoy Series 2 so much more because all of the killers feel so unique (although I love them all). I am not sure if I could rank all 10 (maybe my lowest ones, but then it would get so tough). One of my least favorites was actually The Big Bad Wolf (which I had been so looking forward to) just because the track vs slay system makes him so easy. I did a playthrough where I accidentally did both actions on the Terror Cards and it was much more tense. Also, one of the scenarios for him was very tense because it gave him so much health, but in the basic version just not so much. I do really enjoy the location though. That would be another difficulty for me to rank all 10 is there are some I like the location more than others and the killer more than others and not sure how I would balance that out for ranking the sets. I might have to focus mostly on the killer and use the location more as a tie breaker for the close ones.
When the Two Star Queen speaks, people listen. I have Camp Happy Trails, Madness in the Dark, Carnage at the Carnival, and Panic at the Disco 😂 Last night I played Happy Trails and was on my way to defeat Hans (rolling three dice and playing as Paula, the promo card) when I COULD NOT ROLL A STAR ON A SINGLE DIE TO SAVE MY LIFE. And so I lost. AND NO I WAS NOT UPSET AND NO I AM NOT SHOUTING. 😝 After playing Happy Trails multiple times and loving it, I am ready to move on to Carnage at the Carnival. I love the theme of a creepy carnival. After that, it will be the Ratchet Lady at the mental institution. Happy Trails was a great one to start with because now I understand the mechanics of the game and am ready to add on to the ruleset. Would love to see you do playthroughs of your top two! This was a really fun and informative video. Thanks for posting!
Ranking final girls would be fun, since there are so many of them. I have not played with all of them. It would be a good video before series 3 is announced to avoid bias😊
Great top 10. I enjoyed listening to your thoughts on each movie and the difference between your top 10 vs the discord. I kept hearing positive reviews on this game so I decided to try it out earlier this year. Van Ryder Games knocked it out of the park with this one. It's not perfect and it can be frustrating at times but for me it is always thematic and so much fun playing each film and being part of the story as it unfolds. My favorite is Terror From the Grave Vignette expansion. There is something truly thematic about the victims turning into zombies after being attacked. Plus the zombies translate well to all of the sites. Zombies at camp, zombies at the circus, zombies in the snow, zombies in... space? Sure, why not. I'm hoping to switch out the cardboard zombies for green meeples at some point. The minis are great but for me there's something about the meeples that sing for me. I for one would enjoy watching your play through of "Once Upon a Full Moon" since it's your favorite. I'm new to Foster the Meeple but having said that I'm enjoying the content that Jeff and you have produced. I like listening to you both in the background as I'm multitasking. Keep up the great job!
Apparently I am in the minority but my favorite is Panic at Station 2891. The creature feature theme is much more interesting to me than traditional thrasher theme. But thats why I didn't get any series 1 feature films, only series 2!
Just started watching ya’ll too. Theme is huge for me. Alien themed one is my favorite because of this. Cool to see how different themes resonate with different people!
I just got into Final Girl. I picked up the core box with Frightmare on Maple Lane, The Happy Trials Horror, and Once Upon a Full Moon. I love the Big Bad Wolf. He is just really good and I have trouble with him. I have the rest of Series 2 coming.
just picked up final girl at my local game store! i saw that you needed the core box and a feature film so i nabbed the haunting of creech manor because i looooove ghost stories, but now i'm wondering if i should've picked up the summer camp one... ah well!!! i'll just have to try it and see :]
I brought final girl from UKGE after watching your freaky fridays (which i love). I also got my first ever button shy, food chain island because of your hype of it. I love it! I would love if you could do a review video of your top 10 button shy games or something along those lines. I want to buy more! 😅 ❤
I have to wonder how well this would work as an app version. I normally don't really want digital versions of board games (unless I am on the go, I have spent stupid hours playing the Ticket to Ride app during commutes) as I like the whole physical component thing of playing board games. I like the tactile nature of the actual board game. But the solo nature of this and the slightly time consuming setup all the various modular sets, it just seems like something that would work great as an app. With multiplayer board games I want to play with the bits socially with my friends, move things around, pick up cards, chat, laugh, give each other crap. I think the solo nature of this is what has me thinking of an app version.
A friend just let me borrow his core box and Camp Happy Trails so I am excited to table it for the first time this week. I would love to see a Dr. Fright playthrough!
Inkanyamba is tough but definitely beatable. I usually worry more about the killer’s wrath over the divine track. I hit him early and often. Many times you have to forego saving victims and go right for the items. Retaliation is key here.
You forgot to mention a really cool new mechanic is crafting weapons in the intruders FF. I'm also curious have you played with any of the special dice or signature action cards? Final girl is also my favorite game!! I've gotten my friend addicted and when she comes over we play it together controlling one final girl taking turns making terrible rolls and it's a blast
Given the fact that this video is 10 months old, have you now seen The Thing? The Thing From Another World from the 1950's is great as well but you really need to see John Carpenter's The Thing.
I love Final girl here such a great solo games even if those dice got me killed on multiple occasions hahaha. Just got The Evomorph, The Organism and The intruders this week.
Killer video Jamie! 😅 I have enjoyed the first FG (Happy Trails Camp) more than once and this video will be my guide to buying more sets. I'm ready! Do you have a favorite Final Girl and a favorite Setting that aren't matched? It might br fun to rank those components separately. I'd love to see you play the different combinations of your top picks!
First time playing this series played rachet lady and died after walking and lost one health bleeding out I love that you can kind of make up your own story in this series of how you died
I've been catching up on all things Final Girl... Think I'm obsessed!! Jamie are you going to be the S3 promo Final Girl for the upcoming Kickstarter??
Thank you for this! I was going to buy final girl the other day but didn’t know which to get so I didn’t get any lol next time I’m at my local shop I know what to get now! 👍🏻
Intruders/Cottage is way more reminiscent of the movie You're Next to me, especially because of the Blender item card. Top 10 horror movie death of all time.
I was going to subscribe, but then you dissed ”Into the Void”, which is the episode that made me pull the trigger on this game. How can you be a horror fan, and not like Alien, and, especially, Aliens? I just don’t have room for people like that in my life… :) [Edit] Ok, now you are just messing with my tiny little mind! “Panic” is simply oozing with theme, and is based off of one of the best horror movies ever made (Carpenter’s remake of “The Thing”). This and “Void” were my first two purchases, along with the core set. I just added “Happy Trails” to my collection, as I couldn’t get it originally. Who doesn’t want to have a slasher killer on a spaceship, or at a remote Antarctic base? Or a Xenomorph at an Antarctic base, or camp? Or a shapeshifting alien at a camp, or on a spaceship? For me, these three “movies” allow for a great mix of locations and big bads. Haven’t checked the recent KS, but I think I have all I need to scratch that solo horror board game itch… I’m beginning to think you don’t like the horror genre at all… :) Do yourself a favour, and watch “The Thing”. The 1982 version, by John Carpenter. You can also watch the “prequel”, (made in 2011), if you wish, but watch the original (remake) 1982 film first, and foremost. This will give you a greater appreciation for the theme. Same goes for Aliens - the Directors Cut. You don’t have to have watched Alien (1979) first, but it helps. Cheers,
Thank you for this! Always love your videos and super-fun bonus singing. I've only tried the haunted house and Hans and my booty was kicked both times. Have you tried the zombies or birds? Also, have you mixed and matched bad guys and location much? Thanks again!
Box of Props is not essential, but adds some cool stuff. I go over the contents on my channel. Series 2 mat IMO is better, but not to the point of getting it if you already have the Series 1 mat.
I will second what has already been said, not essential but nice to have! If I had to choose between the 2 mats, season 2's is better, but if you're only ever playing with season one boxes than that one will do just fine!
I'm shocked to see Into the Void so low for you and the discord - granted I'm a huge Alien fan, but the layout of the map and the different ways in which the alien can be defeated make for a really interesting experience imo. But part of the beauty of this game is that everyone will have a different favourite film!
If you don't already have a mat get Series 2 as it has a better layout with updated spaces. You can essentially play either Series with either mat. Series 2 mat just subbed out less necessary stuff for things that work with Series 2 and the Vignettes, and the signature cards.
My #2 is a toss up. Frightmare, Intruders, and Ratchet Lady are all #2. Hans and Happy Trails is my favorite mainly for nostalgia reasons. Huge fun of Friday the 13th. Whenever I'm pulling a horror card I'm making a Ch Ch Ch, Ah Ah Ah sounds and not usually just in my mind. This feature film sucked me in FG fan forever
Have you ever watched the original Teen Wolf with Michael J. Fox? A movie from 1985 (and sadly I'm old and saw it in the cinema). As for this game, I love it too and own everything for it! Would love to see a full playthrough.
I got final girl, played 1 game againt knock off freddy krueger, and sent it back to Amazon to get my money back lol. I guess the set up was too much for me but i really love that there is a horror board game like it out there
To see what the whole Final Girl fuss was about, I bought the core box and the "beginner-level" feature film, Camp Happy Trails. After two games, it's a hard sell for me. The first game I got trounced with the killer having about half his health left, but the next was extremely easy and I won handily. I can't stand games that have this much swinginess in outcomes to them. The die rolls make the game extremely sensitive to a win or loss direction, so if you hate dice-driven games, stay FAR away from this one. In addition, the item cards are grossly unbalanced. In the second game, I got an axe, which has a 2-damage modifier. That's HUGE! If you find that, your chances of winning go up by more than 50% at least. The rest of the item cards have a smattering of 1-damage weapons and a lot of general items without damage modifiers. So the randomness of the item deck is also swingy, in addition to the dice. Another point that speaks to the high sensitivity of the game moving in either a win or loss direction is the fact that if you forget one tiny rule or forget to first take health away from a minor dark power card (for example), that's truly game-breaking. This element is absolutely atrocious in board game design, I can't stress this enough. I'd much rather play a board game where a very minor rule that you miss won't upset the game entirely. In Final Girl, BOY is that not the case! When the game chugs along, you'll likely have cards in different places with their own little rules on them to keep track of, which isn't good at all because you can easily end up missing them. Again, if you fail to notice one little, teensy-weensy rule on a card, you could literally either falsely win or lose in 1 round. Then when you catch the mistake, you can't possibly redo what you did before. Overall, I can only recommend this game if you love and want one of the most thematic board games in existence today and are willing to overlook the gameplay mechanics and luck-driven nature of the game, admittedly with a hint of strategy thrown in. That's pretty much it. The theme really shines through, and I really believe that the theme is what tends to blind people to the extreme luck-driven nature of the game and its very *fatal* flaws (pun intended). My final verdict: 2 stars out of 5.
Heh, when it comes to fighting serial killers, you might say luck is extremely thematic! ;) I adore deeply themed games, so I enjoy the experience even when I lose miserably. And when I figure out how to extend the game to find a way to win in spite of a tough situation, I feel like the smartest person around. (If you roll poorly on a regular basis though, I agree, this game is tough.)
I felt the same way… at first. I loved the themes so much I continued playing and there really are ways to mitigate bad luck so that the swings are reduced in severity. Often it boils down to not playing “just one more card” on a turn, and having more time, for more cards and options on the next turn that helps you to win more often. I find I’m much more in control than I used to be… not every single time, of course, but it’s not nearly as frustrating as it was the first few times.
I LOOOOOOVE Wolfe Asylum. But the Rachet Lady... SUCKS! I've been playing Dr Fright at the Asylum and that is so far my FAVORITE combo! Something about taking random pills off the floor is just a good time haha!
I agree with your 10 completely. He is obnoxiously hard, which is ok for me if the game is almost all skill and almost no luck. But this game is too lucky to make a film this hard. I beat him on like my 13th try. I do actively dislike the film. If I get rid of any to keep my collection slim, he's the first to go.
A Knock at the Door is also largely inspired by You're Next, directed by Adam Wingard, hence naming the location after him.

I started playing final girl because of you and I absolutely loveeee it!! So glad you did this video!
I've been looking for just a single video talking about the different features. I'm very thankful to have found your video!!
Great video!
You should do a ranking of your favorite mash-ups (your favorite combinations of killers and locations that aren’t in the same box)!

Cheers,
I have a question. Core box is for both series 1&2?😊
Yes :)
@@FostertheMeeple thanks! Just ordered core and 1 feature film.
Finally got my hands on this game at a secondhand store! I am addicted! I want to get every single set!
That’s amazing!! Just as an FYI they just released A final girl companion app for Apple and android!!
Where does nightmare at the North Pole fit?
Hmmm I really like it I would probably put it in my top 5! This list will need an update after I finish series 3
Thank you for this! Always love your videos and super-fun bonus singing. I've only tried the haunted house and Hans and my booty was kicked both times.
Have you tried the zombies or birds? Also, have you mixed and matched bad guys and location much?
Thanks again!
Have you tried the Birds or Zombies scenario boxes?
Yes and lost both! ahah
They’ve teased the promo Final Girl for season 3 but won’t say yet who it is. I’ll bet dollars to donuts that it’s you.
Called it.
I just played final girl for the first time. It was soo good!
Yay!! So happy you enjoyed it
I have Camp and Maple Lane. I just finally won for the first time and it came down to the last move.
It is SO satisfying when you win!!!
Have you beat the zombie or bird packs?
I have played both and beat neither!! haha
Stuff and thangs reference there
6:49 Understandable as that one is heavely inspired by the Alien movies (the one with the Xenomorph)
How essential is getting the box of props? is season 2 playmat better than season 1 playmat? Thank you
Box of Props is not essential, but adds some cool stuff. I go over the contents on my channel. Series 2 mat IMO is better, but not to the point of getting it if you already have the Series 1 mat.
@@MerlinsManor Thank you so much
I will second what has already been said, not essential but nice to have! If I had to choose between the 2 mats, season 2's is better, but if you're only ever playing with season one boxes than that one will do just fine!
you are the first person i have met who also loved teen wolf oml yasssss
STILES FOR LIFEEE
I'm shocked to see Into the Void so low for you and the discord - granted I'm a huge Alien fan, but the layout of the map and the different ways in which the alien can be defeated make for a really interesting experience imo. But part of the beauty of this game is that everyone will have a different favourite film!
The Void was my favorite as well, but I am a huge fan of Alien.
Question. I’m just getting all these stories. Do you need both mats? Can I use 2 with 1 or vice versa? Thanks for any feedback!!!
If you don't already have a mat get Series 2 as it has a better layout with updated spaces. You can essentially play either Series with either mat. Series 2 mat just subbed out less necessary stuff for things that work with Series 2 and the Vignettes, and the signature cards.
@@MerlinsManor thank you. Yeah I haven’t gotten a mat yet so I will go with series 2! Thank you!
Play through please! Thanks! Love the channel ❤️
They are coming!! :D Thanks!!
It’s funny your top 3 is the first 3 expansions I brought for FInal Girl
Apparently before Van Ryder Games called it Final Girl the working title was Creepy Deepy. 😂
😂 I'd be on board
@@FostertheMeeple hehe. I finally bit the bullet and the core box with Happy Trails and Maple Lane arrived this week. Loving it so far!
I wonder where Christmas Krampus one falls on your list.
Great question, I think he would fall pretty high for me! Maybe #4!
@@FostertheMeeple Good to know! I just got my copy. Can't wait to play it! Just in time for Christmas. Thank you for your videos!
Play through? Yes please!
it's coming!
Please do a playthrough !!
It's coming!
Have you ever watched the original Teen Wolf with Michael J. Fox? A movie from 1985 (and sadly I'm old and saw it in the cinema). As for this game, I love it too and own everything for it! Would love to see a full playthrough.
I have watched the original!!
The Thing and Alien...how can that not be the best theme! More objective than subjective would've been nice. But hey it's your tier list! Good vid!
How can you have an objective list
@@jc8322 I guess I meant less of her bias in regards to not liking themes and more the mechanics. But I do get your point. Good vid either way!
Those boxes be bangin'
lol I knew #10 would be Grove, that set needs to be burned XD
it do be facts
I got final girl, played 1 game againt knock off freddy krueger, and sent it back to Amazon to get my money back lol. I guess the set up was too much for me but i really love that there is a horror board game like it out there
Oh no! It's not for everyone, but at least you tried so now you know!
@@FostertheMeeple I'm very happy I tried it, I even bought the miniatures because I was so sure I was gonna like it lol
Not every game is going to be for every person unfortunately!
Heh, when it comes to fighting serial killers, you might say luck is extremely thematic! ;)
I adore deeply themed games, so I enjoy the experience even when I lose miserably.
I find I’m much more in control than I used to be… not every single time, of course, but it’s not nearly as frustrating as it was the first few times.
you need to stop right now and go and watch every movie by john carpenter (including the thing)
I LOOOOOOVE Wolfe Asylum. But the Rachet Lady... SUCKS! I've been playing Dr Fright at the Asylum and that is so far my FAVORITE combo! Something about taking random pills off the floor is just a good time haha!
Ohhhh interesting combo!! I will have to try it!
Stopped watching after she said she’s never seen The Thing.
What do you mean?
