- This is one of the most problematic border crossing in Norway because of the steep hill and narrow road . If you meet another truck while climbing the hill at the narrow place and it is slippery, you are pretty much screwed. Right now Norwegians are building the tunnel through the mountain to avoid that narrow part of the road which starts at 14:00

He isn't even driving *that* fast
@@j.ceasar yes he is hes doing 50+ mph in a lorry, on a snow covered road. its irresponsible
@@noswad86 He is doing 50+ kmh, means round about 31+ mph. And his Truck has enough traction for even the smallest steering maneuvers at 50+ kmh.

Your video is soo...oo amazing.
Thats the exact same thing motorcycle guys say. I agree about riding a motorcycle but not riding a truck lol. I dont doubt the experience is great, but its about being in contact with the environment and feel your surroundings. You can only do that riding a bike.
@@reerjgiorge To each its own. I don't think i would be comfortable with all that gear and helmet on.
Believe me theres nothing enjoyable here, its tough work with long hours and difficult logistics, truckers are way too concentrated on work to enjoy the view.
@@pvopop4938 i once helped a trucker to unload cargo at multiple destinations for a day. And ill tell you its fine in rural areas or on the motorway/highways but cities and towns is where its really stressful especially here in Europe i don't know how is it in US but its insane. And in some places you're required yourself to unload and load stuff depending on which company you work for. The most beautiful roads in the world ... I miss them
especially for this 16:50
... A breathtaking view, and this adrenaline on a steep slippery ride
As a Nowregian driving this road every winter to Sweden, I can confirm going down that part is uncomfortable, because you're not sitting as high as in a truck, so you cant's see the drop down before you're over the hil. I'ts actually steeper than it looks on the video too. Kind of like a rollercoaster.

The snow-covered landscape is amazing. I want to be in that truck!

Driven trucks in northern Sweden for about 10 years. I can honestly say, I would never even consider crossing the border in a truck. 😉 I have such great respect for the truck drivers in Norway. I bow before my masters!
Driven a car in Norway, and some of the roads are just insane. But the scenery, my god it is a beautiful country. Every 30 seconds of driving and it's one perfect view after another.
Warmest regards from your neighbor!
As a Norwegian truck driver i can confirm this. The roads are awful, common issue we raise in politics
I was lucky enough to drive to Norway last year from the UK (3.5t van) and I have to say - Sweden and Norway are the most beautiful places I've visited. I've driven through every country in mainland Europe and Scandinavia gets my vote... Just wish it wasn't 10 bloody quid for a beer!
Hi! I'm a fan from Russia, sorry for the mistakes if they are here. Thank you very much for these videos. They are very beautiful and are an inspiration for me in many works! Keep up the good work! Good luck on the road!
I used to drive those roads in northern Norway with a Volvo 480. I miss the feeling of solitude on those roads. Most of those roads are covered with ice and snow from november to mars. There just isn't enough traffic to keep them cleared. As long as its cold, you can go 90 kmh, no problem. In summer and fall I sometimes stopped and fished in the rivers, lots of trouts.
I'd take that over rush hour traffic any day... gorgeous place!
That truck is amazing, seems incredibly comfortable to drive

Since the OP didn`t reply in the comments, I will add something. I am working as a dispatcher for a trucking company which drives mostly in Norway, Sweden and Denmark all year round. You are asking why does he go so fast and isn`t he scared. First of all, I am 90% sure he has snowchains on the truck, second, the truck and the trailer weigh 40 tons combined - not that easy to slide, the cargo presses the driving axle into the ground, third, good winter tires, they cost somewhere between 6000-10000 EUR for the truck itself and that should say something on its own :). And last but not the least, as some of you mentioned earlier - the temperature in January (upload date) over there is somewhere between -25C to -40C - snow in these conditions is a lot grippier, it is not like regular snow at even -20C.
I had been in North Norway in the summer and personally would`ve never chosen to drive there in the winter with a truck. The drivers are skilled proffesionals who are passionate about their jobs and they like driving there more than in any other part of Europe.
No chains but other than that, you are correct. :)
Kristo Boginski I am sure you had seen our trucks, company is called Diana :)
The light on the mountains - wow, exquisite. The driving conditions - ulp!! But, yes, with practice and the right tires.... :)

amazing driving skills just wow in the snow with that speed
Amazing how fast you drive! 80-90 km/h many times. I wouldn’t try that with my car on these roads. But I guess a truck of 25+ tons has a lot more axle pressure per wheel than a normal car and thus more grip. Are you also using special winter tires?
Always love to watch these soothing videos during my breakfast... Truck driving looks so romantic, but I heard many times for most drivers it’s a hard job.
we are using tiers marked like this 3 peak mountain snowflake they are made for this type of driving conditions and also when we are going uphill we lift the 3 axels up so we can get up to 20ton axel pressure but we will then lose weight on front axle
How did you drive at that speed, aren't you scared? I still watched my palms sweat.
Looks very risky to me, 90km/h downhill with a heavy truck on such a snowy road.
Snow is a lot more grippy on low temperatures, it makes that crunchy noise when you step on it and the road didn't look like it had ice underneath the snow layer.

I'm super excited 😁
Isn't that speed on a snowy road very dangerous? I think you should be slowing down. Amazing landscape though I loved it!
it's normal speed for us up here in Norway!
- up here we call winter tire they use in rest of Europe and America for summer tire.... We use proper winter tire, build to grip quite good on snow and ice. (we use one set of tire for summer and another set of tire for winter) + chains for just that extra safety or when it is really bad.
a simplified version of what is required her in Norway by law, to be allowed to drive:
1. Winter truck tire must have no less than 3 mm tread depth (recommended 4mm),
2. A car with trailer where each have an allowed max weight of 3500kg or more, you have to have winter tire on from 5. november to 31. mars by law.
3. requirement for winter tire is that they have to be marked with either "M+S", "MS", "M&S", "M-S", "Mud and snow" or/alternatively "3PMSF" alternatively "3 Peak Mountain Snowflake"
4. in some area it's mandatory by law to have studded tire with minimum 5 mm tread depth
5.
If it is necessary to ensure adequate road grip, the car must have winter tires with or without studs, chain or the like - also outside the time periods.
If police or the Norwegian Public Roads Administration take you in driving summer tire inside the given period for winter tire. depending on situation you can either get a fine of several hundreds of dollars (don't be surprised if you are given a 400-800$ fine), you can also lose you license and if you are involved in an accident, you will lose your insurance.
@@heuhen its OK. But I thought that you can not use a retarder on a slippery road in general ...
@@heuhen
yeah i know the comment is a year old, but i need to correct it lol
number 1 is wrong! minimum tread depth on anything over 3500kg is 5mm in the winter( its 3mm for normal cars under 3500kg) anything lower, and you get a ticket (200 Euro PR TIRE) :)
number 3: the "3PMSF" alternatively "3 Peak Mountain Snowflake" you now need by law (on driveline and steering axle, m+s on rest). only tires made within a certain timeframe is allowed, but as soon as you change to a new set, you need 3pmsf (the fine for not following this is the same as above) :)
4. is it not mandatory by law, as studless tires is a wintertire aswell - preference on the other hand, would not drive a truck without studded tires myself:) it is required to have chains tho, and there is a minimum amount you need to have:
3 chains: if just a single truck(1 steering + 2 drive
7 chains: if its a truck and trailer combo (1 steering, 4 if you have dual drivetire and 2 trailer)
5 chains: same as above except A: has a single drivetire or B: has dualchains, that is linked together and covers both dual tires
you will not loose you insurance if you crash with unlegal tires, you do however get a regress from the insurance company, and need to pay everything out of your own pocket + fine from police.
@@starwanderer6821 you can use it but it is not adviced to do so, since it can lock up your driveline. but there is a lot of factors that need to be considered, is it just snowcovered road, is it icy, is it glazed, how cold or warm is it, etc. if its -10 celcius or colder, and a snowcovered road, you can most likely use it, on a glazed road and around 0 celcius, thats a big nono.
a lot of newer trucks have a automatic exhaustbrake/retarder combo (when driving on cruicecontrol), so it cuts the retarder off, and use the exhaustbrake if it knocks itself loose - if not, it uses both. this as a driver, you can control, since you can turn them of automatic mode by a flip of a switch(one for each)
Yes, I know this, but still I don't have enough practice on the snow and ice)
So I have a question. The company you work for does loads of transports to and from Scandinavia. Now I am an 18 year old Dutch guy that absolutely hates school but has always had a passion for big vehicles and Scandinavia. Driving in Scandinavia will be difficult to start out with, but with some experience first I'm sure you can do it :)

Just what we need... Another driver from central europe who has never seen a hill nor proper winter. They come here, driving while risking everyone's lives on Norwegian roads.
Please don't.
Foreign truck drivers have a very bad reputation here in Norway because they keep crashing, driving without chains or on poor tires. If they only killed themselves it would just be annoying, but when you keep killing the locals with your trucks, it's not that fun.
It may be an "adventure" for you guys, but for us living here it's actual life and death danger when stupid thrill-seekers from down south think they know what they are doing.
